If you missed the original version on the PS3 and you want a musically-inspired shooter to play on the road, Everyday Shooter is just fine. The port runs well and the controls -- while a bit awkward due to the loss of the two analog sticks -- function well enough because of Everyday Shooter's angular mechanics. I would still recommend the PS3 version over the PSP version, especially because playing on such a small screen can make seeing pixel-sized enemies a colossal chore, but the portable release is still worth the ten dollars.

Tomb Raider: Underworld on the Wii is not a bad game, but it's disappointing for fans of the series. The whole things has been oversimplified and dumbed down. The Wii puzzles are a joke, the combat is almost nonexistent, and the game is pretty short. If the Wii is your only choice for gaming and you've never played a Tomb Raider game then go for it, but fans of the series are going to find an empty tomb here.

T-Mek for the 32X is playable, which is a nice way of saying it's only a modest step above functional. But the charms of the arcade game, an over-the-top Battlezone update with network play, are nowhere to be found. And the visuals are positively terrible. It's almost like Nintendo paid Atari to make the game look bad to create bad press for the 32X. Not that the 32X wasn't doing just fine in that department on its own...

Heavenly Guardian is an affront to everything that games are now and were back in the day. It can be held up as a brazen defiance of the march of technology, a testament to when games were simple but fun (and despite all my bitching, Heavenly Guardian is still fun... to a degree). It's also a painfully generic, downright pitiful display of what 2D gaming can still offer. I don't mind old-school games, though I do feel that nostalgia often tints our perspective on really old titles until we see them with modern eyes, but that isn't the case here. I wanted a spiritual successor to Pocky & Rocky -- even if the name wasn't there. Instead, I got a game apparently transplanted from the early 90s that was stripped of its soul during the trip. There's no heart to what's happening, only a tired series of canned patterns and lifeless trudges through wintery wastes. This is not the 16-bit throwback you're looking for.

A slavishly accurate conversion of a classic racer thought lost to the smoky arcade mists of time, Sumo Digital has retained the joy of the 1996 original while bolstering the game with a handsome offering of online modes and an attractive high definition overhaul. As exacting a port as it is, GTI Club + is still a relatively slim package – recommended wholesale for anyone with even the dimmest of recollections of the original, but those unfamiliar with the formula may be left wanting by what’s on offer.

Yes, Inferno still has some glitches to its name (it crashed on me twice) and the gameplay could have been further refined, but there's no question that the PS3 version is a major improvement over the originals and offers a much more enjoyable experience. Despite all it's problems, I can really see what the developers at Eden Games were going for when they set out to make Alone in the Dark, and I find many of their efforts both admirable and intriguing. If you feel like you can work through some of the remaining gameplay issues and a few plot holes, I think Inferno is an adventure game that gamers can appreciate. At the very least, you can more clearly see what the overarching vision for Alone in the Dark was while enjoying the game's super cool soundtrack.

Shaun White Snowboarding is a decent casual game on the PlayStation 2 that is easy to get into and offers some interesting character progression possibilities. There are definitely more exciting snowboarding games on the system, though -- all of the SSX games make Shaun White feel like child's play. But there are still several hours of breezy fun on the mountains to be had here.

Zaxxon Motherbase 2000 is not a Zaxxon game. It's a pointless, un-fun shooter that merely sharing the same camera angle as SEGA's arcade classics. The game is slow and a visual non-de-force that deserves to be in the bottom tier of 32X games to collect if you are assembling a library. Hopefully, SEGA will one day give Zaxxon the respect it deserves... by just leaving well enough alone and letting gamers appreciate all that entails.

If you have a puny, atrophied brain, spending some time with Brain Challenge will make you feel better about it. The graphics aren't much to look at but the menus are sharp and easy to navigate, and the controls are intuitive. There are some issues with the tutorials and multiplayer, but the basics of a decent educational puzzler are here.

If you've so far neglected to enter Grand Theft Auto IV's stunning modern metropolis of Liberty City, by all means get this game. The overall GTA formula has been refined and retooled in this version to be more convenient, more realistic, and ultimately more mature, though it still gets stuck on brambles held over from games past. As far as living a virtual life goes, managing the social network, night life, travel habits and explosive forays of virtual dynamo Niko Bellic is one that'll stick in your thoughts for years to come. The PC version comes with a few added features, such as online filters for finding matches, the ability to save clips and edit them together, added graphics and control options, as well as a larger player capacity in some of the multiplayer modes. Though you'll need a high-powered system to truly experience the PC version's enhanced visuals, Liberty City is still a wonder to behold.

It's tough to get excited about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. It's essentially a re-release of Guitar Hero III with a new song list and some new avatars. Still, it is Guitar Hero and the formula can deliver a lot of fun. The game is easier than any before it, which makes it a nice choice for anybody looking to jump in and try out a Guitar Hero game for the first time. Just double check your status in the Aerosmith fan club and make sure your PC meets the system requirements before running out to buy this one.

Regardless of the version, Tale of Despereaux is the type of game you need to avoid at all costs. Despereaux's movement and jumping (especially on the PS2) is pretty much a disaster; combat is a serious exercise in button-mashing and the lack of camera control, as well as any real sense of depth, makes playing through Despereaux a chore. No matter where you look, you'll only see poorly executed game design. I strongly advise you to save your money and leave this one on the shelf.

Boogerman was a fine idea for a mid-'90s video game superhero, as in that era you needed to do whatever you could to get your game to stand out from the crowd -- the platforming genre was incredibly popular, and it was definitely difficult to distance your product from your competitors'. But his gross-out theme just isn't strong enough to stay interesting beyond that first few minutes, as the novelty of seeing a hero be so nasty wears out quickly when you realize the gameplay is just as standard as any other cookie-cutter platformer from that same 16-bit age. Boogerman isn't a bad game, and if you're finding yourself captivated by the concept for whatever reason, it's not the worst way to spend 800 Wii Points. But I'd recommend you save that eight bucks for a better adventure -- maybe Interplay's own Earthworm Jim, or Earthworm Jim 2, which is also coming soon to the Virtual Console.

This is a game that's difficult to recommend for kids. It seems to be another one of those titles that doesn't quite seem to know its audience. Though the game is directed towards young children, there are many aspects that will likely be over their heads. There's nothing about Defendin' de Penguin that stands out as being predominantly bad, but at the same time, there's not really anything it does particularly well. It acts as something of a, "my first RTS", title; introducing young gamers to a genre they've likely never experienced before. Unfortunately, there's not a lot this game has to offer beyond that.

Fans of D&D and single-player role-playing games should definitely check out Storm of Zehir. Yes, there's a shortage of single-player D&D games in this age of MMOs that we live in, but Obsidian has still crafted an involving and engaging adventure. It's also nice to see the company take risks, presenting new forms of gameplay and evolving its series even further. With its emphasis on party, this feels like an homage to the old school D&D games of the past.
