Quantum of Solace isn't a bad little action game on DS, but it is noticeably less cunning and sleek as the agent that inspires it. While stealth can be used to a certain extent, and while the added melee mode attempted to deepen the core experience, we often found ourselves getting just a strong of results from sprinting through the halls with 007 armed and dangerous, getting the jump on baddies, and then mowing them down from a rage of two or three feet. The camera is too close for any serious gunplay, and the lack of a cover system means you're often stat-mashing against other players to whittle down stats and ultimately deliver a killing blow, and stylus-only control is a bit odd in certain cases, specifically when dealing with "tap to shoot" controls that slightly manipulate the camera with every tap, or just aren't as satisfying or accurate as we'd like. If you're a Bond fan, and you've got your heart set on a pocket offering, Quantum of Solace will satisfy for at least a few sittings, with lots of options, character expansion, and some pretty impressive production values for a DS game. The gameplay though seems to take a back seat to the rest of the package, and while it still has its fun moments, there are a handful of better ways to do this type of game on DS.

But you might be less of a fan if you let this one pass by, as the delayed arrival of Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou in the States is an event that should be celebrated and supported by anyone who's ever enjoyed a Gradius game before. This Import is an excellent installment in a reliably solid series, and shooter fans should feel good about putting down nine digital dollars to give it a download. If we're lucky, Konami will continue to support the Virtual Console with more of the spin-offs, follow-ups and sequels that gave this series such a firm fanbase in the first place -- we'd still love to see games like Life Force, the Famicom version of Gradius II and the Parodius series make it to the Wii Shop as well.

With that said, there's still a lot to see in Alien Crush Returns, and it makes for a fun experience. Online leaderboards are available for every map, and include both score and time trial modes. You can connect online with friends, region players, or worldwide and play four-player vs. ball, and the promise of additional downloadable content in the form of extra stages (the game is a little too short now) and action abilities could open up the package substantially. While story mode is a bit simple, the animation and overall visual presentation the game is pretty impressive overall, and at the end of the day, the game is fun enough to warrant an 800 point purchase if you're into pinball, or were a fan of the older Alien Crush/Devil's Crush games. It isn't perfect, but it's certainly a fun game to play between lengthier, full-fledged Wii titles. Hopefully the downloadable content delivers, as it could really flesh out a package that is -in its current state - fun, but shallow. Oh, and as a message to Hudson, we'd have no problem paying $50 for a gigantic space epic Alien Crush with dozens of stages, extra modes, local multiplayer, and a more fleshed out "guilty pleasure" story. Alien Crush Returns is fun. Now we want more.

And it's a shame too, as there are some great ideas happening within the package. The Wii version, for example, is the only one to offer split-screen multiplayer, and while you still have online options (albeit very simple, and nothing compared to what we expect from Treyarch's upcoming World at War Wii) the option of doing local play with a few friends was added specifically for Wii, and it holds up relatively well on a technical basis. Even online, which we mentioned was very simple, runs relatively well, and is an area of the game where things work by design, and could have been fleshed out much more for a larger audience. Then again, we'll be getting what sounds like a pretty impressive Call of Duty online product from Treyarch, so since Bond was limited to you and a couple other cronies running around a few levels with only two main modes, hopefully that's just a taste of what's to come in just a couple weeks. You've also got a control setup for the zapper, IR-based interactive sequences, and Mii integration for online and local profile management. It's obvious there were ideas at work here, but the overall tech crippled the game in a big way, partially due we're sure to the fact that it was developed in tandem between multiple consoles, and multiple teams, all using the same design. Even the control options, which attempted to include pre-sets, as well as a bounding box editor for specific control tweaking just didn't end up working like it should have in the final version, with the end result a half-functional, rushed effort that we're sure could have been impressive with enough time to get everything working. Even Treyarch's Call of Duty 3 controls better than Quantum of Solace, and Bond isn't a launch game like COD3 was. We've played and reviewed lots of "bad" games on Wii, but unlike those before it Quantum of Solace feels like a title that has a real soul to it, and somewhere in the mess of unprecedented frame issues, visual bugs, and sloppy port code is a game that really could have been a blast to play. Instead, it's one you want to avoid at all costs, as Bond's first Wii effort doesn't deliver over some of Activision's previous (and upcoming) efforts on Wii.

If you love games like Order Up! or even (on some level) The SIms, you might find Home Sweet Home interesting for a few short-lived minutes, but if you fancy yourself a hardcore gamer you will loath this title. Any way you slice it, this is not a game worthy of 1,000 Wii Points -- half that would be pushing it, as far as I'm concerned. Supposing you really want to decorate some rooms, go online and tool around with the thousands of websites that enable you to do this with real furniture. Or wait for PS3's Home Network, which will let you walk around your IKEA-inspired virtual apartment.

The only redeeming quality I could point out regarding Make the Grade is that it, at the very least, functions properly and doesn't seem to crash. That's about it. I'm not even sure I could recommend this game to hardcore fans of the TV show, but I will admit that getting a bunch of people together to laugh at the game is fun enough. Watching the fifth grade girl get denied a high five was certainly the highlight of my time with Make the Grade. Hopefully that tells you all you need to know.

Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? makes a worthy attempt at doing trivia right. Though it ultimately fails, it doesn't seem as if this was a game just thrown together. Work was put into 5th Grader, but it falls short of other quiz games on Xbox 360. If you're truly smarter than a fith grader, you'll pass on this game.

Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant is exactly like its predecessor: a mildly enjoyable platforming romp that's sure to satisfy younger players, but won't provide much that seasoned players haven't already experienced before. If you believe yourself an absolutely die-hard Bandicoot fan or if you already liked Crash of the Titans, by all means check this title out. There's some good humor housed within, the gameplay mechanics work well enough and the platforming challenges, while very traditional (if not simple) are usually enjoyable. But if your idea of a good platformer is Super Mario Galaxy, you will find Nintendo's plumber in a completely different universe than this game both in terms of innovation and polish.

What's Cooking? Jamie Oliver is an admirable effort but it doesn't go far enough beyond regular cookbooks to make it worth it. Truly interactive features like voice commands (so you don't get your DS grubby while cooking) and video tutorials would have been useful -- and will appear in Nintendo's first-party cooking title later this year. Plus, the game aspects here are more annoying than anything. Gamers who want to get their hands dirty in the kitchen should wait a bit for Nintendo's effort.

In the end, Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a missed opportunity. Activision, Treyarch, Aspyr and Shaba were given a blank slate to create whatever Spider-inspired tale they wanted, and they put together a game starring a whiney hero, a foggy story, repetitive gameplay, and a focus on pretty combat combos instead of engaging combat mechanics. Web of Shadows is better than the last Spidey game to make it to the market, but that's not a ringing endorsement. If this game makes your spider-sense tingle in a good way, I'd suggest renting or waiting for a price cut before taking the plunge. Web of Shadows has its moments of fun, but they're lost in a sea of gaffes that True Believers are likely to revile.
