So while Roogoo might look like a standard falling-block puzzler when you first lay your eyes on it, after taking it out for a spin for about an hour or so, its fun factor becomes apparent. It does a good job of keeping the gameplay fresh and increasingly challenging throughout the 45 stages. Couple that with the multiplayer content and Roogoo’s package is enough to justify the 800 Microsoft Point expenditure.

The Dog Island is a seriously odd title, but its style, attention to detail, and overall offering as a kid-friendly, casual adventure/RPG makes it a solid choice for the younger Wii crowd. The game’s initial appeal is the same as its lasting drive – which is centered entirely around cute puppy animations, a soft, colorful world, and inviting atmosphere – but it’s the overall size and robust feel of the game that actually makes it worth a second look. It’s fun to control, filled with customization options for your puppy, and while the story isn’t anything special, filled with pretty repetitive, ahem, “fetch” quests, it’s still a stronger effort than a lot of other casual-skewed titles out there. The Dog Island proves a very important point about Wii. There’s nothing wrong with casual-centric titles, as long as they’re made well.

Rambo III is brainless machismo, but that's half the fun here. It's a fairly short adventure spanning only six levels, so that really cuts into the game's overall value. However, considering you can score a cart now for significantly less than you could in 1989, it's still worth the pick-up for Genesis owners and action game fans.

Protothea is a totally hardcore shooter that, while challenging, just isn't very interesting. The one unique aspect is its control scheme, but I can't say it's an improvement over two analog sticks. The game doesn't look that great, doesn't sound that great, and doesn't offer much creativity. If you consider yourself a hardcore shooter fan you might want to take a look, if only to check out the IR controls. But there are much better shooters on the Wii.

At the end of the day, UEFA Euro 2008 feels a bit too much like the previous FIFA installation than most will probably appreciate. With no form of Captain Your Country included and a fairly paltry offering of new modes and features, UEFA 08 on PSP will likely be one of those titles that is only truly enjoyed by those who didn’t play this season’s FIFA. Otherwise, you may as well steer clear and hold out for ’09.

Dracula: Origin is elegant piece of work visually, using well-known fictional characters and blending it into a fun and challenging adventure game. Everything ranging from the puzzles to the music fit in perfectly with the story. Note that this game is not ground-breaking in any way; it uses the old adventure format but with a few tweaks that make it accessible and easier for those who aren't familiar with the genre.

Super Fantasy Zone will likely only truly appeal to fans of the franchise like myself, but I hope shooter freaks will take the time to seek it out on the Internet. It's well worth a purchase, as the game is both fun to play and fun to look at. Great music, great color, great control. I do hope SEGA pushes this one out on the Virtual Console so more gamers are exposed to the series.

Grand Theft Auto III was a revolutionary title, one that inspired a whole new generation of 3D action games. Grand Theft Auto IV is just as big a leap forward, though perhaps in subtler ways, and sets a new benchmark for open-world games. Everything in GTA IV works in harmony. The story would be nothing without the city; the city gains realism from the physics engine; the physics complement the improved AI; the AI would make no sense without the new cover system. And on and on. There is no one major weak aspect. A "10" is not a score we give out very often. In fact, the last time we gave a 10 to a console game was Soul Calibur in 1999. A 10 doesn't mean a game is perfect -- it means a game is pushing boundaries, expanding a genre, and doing many things to a level so far above and beyond its competitors that they overshadows any flaws. Certainly, GTA IV has some issues, the most noticeable being the occasional flaw in the cover system, but there are many more pieces of GTA IV that are better than anything I've seen from a game in the past decade. We don't give 10s often -- just to games that merit the score.

Comparing LEGO Indiana Jones to LEGO Star Wars is unavoidable, but it’s also not a bad thing considering just how good last year’s LEGO Star Wars turned out on the Nintendo DS. I’m afraid that if the LEGO franchise continues in this direction the novelty will end up wearing thin (I’m looking at you, Batman), but for now it still feels somewhat fresh. And even though the game shares many of the same elements as last year’s LEGO-ified Star Wars game there’s plenty new to experience.

It’s tough to justify recommending a ten dollar purchase for Buku Sudoku when there are pen and paper alternatives out there that are both cheap and portable. It’s a fun game that succeeds in being challenging for veterans and easily accessible for newbies, and you certainly won’t have a shortage of puzzles to try, but I can’t help but wonder why the developer thought this would be a good fit for Xbox Live Arcade. Like Word Puzzle before it, Buku Sudoku seems best fit for reality.

It’s too bad that the conversion of Quake Wars didn’t go smoother. The gameplay, while fun on PC, was clearly better-suited for the world of a keyboard and mouse combo than a controller. Things like item placement and orientation (facing your turret in the proper direction), aiming, weapon selection and the general speed of the gameplay are simply better handled on PC than they are here. If you’ve already spent hours going up against either the Strogg or GDF on your computer then there’s really no reason to venture back into the battle on Xbox 360. If you haven’t played Quake Wars yet, well there’s really nothing to recommend here that isn’t done better (and at a cheaper price tag) on the PC.

Although the price is low and the graphics have been given an HD overhaul, Warlords feels dated and tired, and there's not much here to keep gamers interested for long. Warlords is a classic, to be sure, but its transition to XBLA leaves us shrugging our shoulders.

When the book is closed on UEFA Euro 2008 people will likely remember it as the final UEFA game to make its way onto the PS2 (we’re guessing). There are a few nice additions here and there but for the most part the entire game is old hat. Portions of the game are starting to show significant age in the way players move and react to one another. The same goes for the framerate which could have been bolstered down a bit more prior to release. All that withstanding, UEFA Euro 2008 is still a fun and enjoyable outing that enthusiasts of the sport will certainly enjoy provided they haven’t seen the current-gen versions yet.

Drone Tactics is a solid strategy game wrapped in a sickly sweet candy shell. In order to get at the gaming goodness you have to bite through generic characters, laughable dialogue, and one of the most inane stories we've ever been forced to sit through (because we can't skip the damn things!). If you consider yourself a fan of turn-based strategy games, though, you may find the engaging insect mech combat to be worth it.

I applaud developer Planet Moon for trying something fresh and original in the music game genre. But I have to give them a wag of the finger for treating the player like a child. Really, we can handle more than a few swings of the Wiimote. You'll only find it difficult if you don't know what the game's about -- because it won't explain things to you. Once you get past the novelty of hearing the classic funk song "Brick House" played by a country band, the game offers nothing else. At the end of your first song, you've experienced everything the game has to offer. Playing along with the songs isn't fun, there isn't any challenge, and there are barely any modes or options to speak of. Even as a casual game, Battle of the Bands fails to engage the player. The fun music player is the only thing saving this one from the scrap heap.
