Fast, furious, and all together entertaining, Gauntlet Legends is one of the best mindless action quests to come along in a quite some time. For those of you in search of power, fortune, and challenge (it gets absolutely insane on the hardest difficulty setting) Gauntlet Legends won't (and can't) steer you wrong.

For the most part, Grand Theft Auto 2 gave a big effort and tried its bloody little heart out at being a premier title. But with the shoddy play mechanics and a sometimes overspent nonlinear approach at completing your tasks, DMA and Take 2 could have done better. Recommended as a rental at best, try before you buy this creative entry into a usually cookie-cutter clean action genre.

Fighting fans (and Capcom nuts) should check Plasma Sword out for at least a few sessions. With a decent amount of characters and some hearty specialty moves, it'll at least grab your attention for a weekend. But if its depth and replayability you're looking for, Capcom has done a lot better than this. Wait for the American release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 or Street Fighter Alpha 3 for a taste of what the company can do best.

I had high hopes for Roadsters. A casual fan of Speed Devils and other classic arcade wheelers like Hard Drivin', I wanted it to be something special but this isn't it. Easter eggs and secrets aside, there's not much to hold your interest after the first few races. Plus, it's graphically horrendous and ergonomically frustrating. It's time to start praying that Bizarre Creations' upcoming Metropolis and Midways 4-Wheel follow-up to Hydro Thunder don't suffer the same fate. Do yourself a favor, and race somewhere else.

Disney's Aladdin could have been that game that showed skeptics that the Game Boy Color hardware has a lot of 2D capabilities -- I'm sure the game could have been done a lot cleaner and smoother with added resources and tighter programming. But instead, an amazing-looking Genesis game gets reduced down to a mediocre looking and above-average playing portable title on the GBC -- granted, the Genesis is a 16-bit system and the GBC an updated NES, but I've seen better, smoother, and faster on the hardware. It plays well enough, but the flicker and slowdown is a distraction.
