Survival Kids è un titolo pensato per i più piccoli, o per coloro che cerchino davvero un'esperienza semplice e confortevole. Di "survival" non ha quasi nulla, a parte lo scopo principale di fuggire da un'isola disabitata: raggiungere l'obiettivo è semplice, come semplice è anche capire e padroneggiare le (poche) meccaniche a disposizione. Questo non vuol dire che sia un gioco noioso o che prometta contenuti poi assenti: Konami è stata anzi chiarissima su ciò che dovreste aspettarvi. Dovete aspettarvi un gioco in cui ognuno di voi controlla un bambino su un'isola dalla quale deve fuggire, e fuggire è molto facile. Con l'online o il multigiocatore in locale il tutto resta facile ma un po' più divertente, perché ci si possono dividere mansioni e azioni da completare. Sia come sia, anche a fronte del suo essere "contenuto", probabilmente lo abbandonerete in fretta per altro.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die è un roguelite tutto basato sulle sinergie tra armi, potenziamenti e meccaniche a disposizione del personaggio, che crea effetti molto divertenti sulla partita e che si gioca su un sistema di power up da distribuire con intelligenza su una griglia. Il nuovo corso del franchise è davvero intrigante, e sebbene paghi un po' per la mancanza di spessore e di mistero, è impossibile non ammettere che sia ben riuscito. Infatti, ne avremmo voluto ancora di più! Questa volta il lancio del dado è stato fortunatissimo per Stormteller Games, e la nuova faccia di Lost in Random ci ha convinti pienamente.

Non si può certo affermare che Lost in Random: The Eternal Die sia un brutto progetto, sia chiaro, ma la sensazione di essere davanti a un lavoro decisamente meno coraggioso del previsto è forte e netta. Parliamo comunque di un buon roguelite che riesce, con una certa intelligenza (e con astuzia), ad attirare i fan del genere grazie a numerose combinazioni di abilità e a un fattore imprevedibilità che valorizza la rigiocabilità generale. Se pensiamo, però, a tutto il potenziale legato alla narrazione e al comparto artistico del mondo di Alea, con le sue critiche e i racconti grotteschi, non può che rimanere un po’ di rammarico.

Lost in Random: The Eternal Die is a great time for any fan of roguelites. It is, unashamedly, like Hades, but also a seriously fun time that I enjoyed almost every single moment of… aside from some of the glitches I ran into.

È un peccato che non ci sia più casualità ad ogni partita, ma nonostante ciò, vale assolutamente la pena (considerando anche il prezzo budget) passare un po' di ore a tirare i dadi con Aleksandra. PRO Funzionamento delle reliquie davvero intelligente | un fantastico Roguelite con combattimenti divertenti | armi divertenti da utilizzare | Bellissima art e sound design ... CONTRO ... anche se una maggiore diversificazione non avrebbe guastato | avremmo gradito una maggiore casualità fra una partita e l'altra

Dune: Awakening è sia un ottimo survival, sia un tributo rigoroso all'universo creato da Frank Herbert nonostante sia ambientato in una timeline alternativa. La campagna ha una struttura tipica del genere survival-crafting con risorse e zone a livello crescente e una narrativa ispirata alla ricerca dei Fremen fatta da Duncan Idaho nei libri e nel primo film. I combattimenti sono intensi e hanno una decisa curva di apprendimento, ma le unità nemiche sono davvero poche. La progressione è tarata alla perfezione e tiene sempre lontani noia e grind: il mondo è pieno di pericoli e opportunità, tutti organizzati secondo un codice colore che mette in chiaro benefici e rischi di ogni attività. L'endgame è massiccio, in costante cambiamento, complesso e impegnativo, cosa che lo rende davvero accessibile solo a chi è un membro attivo della sua gilda e del suo server. C'è tanto divertimento nella campagna e nelle attività di fine gioco PvE ma l'esperienza definitiva è intrisa di PvP e per vincere bisogna essere molto preparati. Ce n'è per tutti (o quasi) in Dune: Awakening, e siamo convinti che Funcom abbia fatto i giusti compromessi così da creare un'esperienza accessibile ma con tante potenzialità e che vale l'investimento di tempo ed energie per chi vuole dedicarcisi anima e corpo.

Splitgate 2 is an interesting sequel. In a lot of ways, it fixes the issues we had with the original; it looks nicer, runs better, gameplay is far improved, there’s a lot of content on offer, and the portal mechanic is good fun to learn. It's a great pick for those casual sessions with your mates, but we still can't help but feel underwhelmed by it all. The maps are fine, and the cosmetics are dull as dishwater. If you removed the portal mechanics — which were arguably more freeing in the first Splitgate — you'd be left with a competent, but ultimately uninspired shooter.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is officially off to the races, and Mario Kart World is a great way to get things started. The first brand-new Mario Kart in a decade makes huge changes to the established formula, but ironically, the best parts about it closely follow the blueprint of every entry that’s come before: unbeatable local multiplayer racing on well-designed tracks that more than live up to the series’ legacy. World’s tight controls, celebratory soundtrack, and universal polish marvelously complement the action, and I can’t wait to see how top players will take full advantage of its exciting parkour mechanics in the months and years ahead. The way Nintendo built 30 courses into an interconnected series of highways is undeniably impressive, too, but Mario Kart’s first attempt at an open world is also fairly uneven across its variety of modes. The clear standout among the new ways to play is Knockout Tour, a thrilling battle royale that makes the best use of World’s intertwined roads. But when you add in frustrating online multiplayer limitations and some head-scratching design decisions around the interface and unlockables that will hopefully be fixed in future updates, World feels like it was hit with a blue shell right before the finish line. Still, Mario Kart World’s chassis is so strong that, with a few key tune-ups, I’m confident it will eventually end up popping champagne in victory lane.

Mario Kart World è il capitolo più ambizioso della serie, capace di portare una ventata di freschezza con l'eccezionale modalità Sopravvivenza e un gameplay accessibile e divertente. L'idea di un mondo interconnesso è un passo audace che amplia le possibilità di esplorazione, anche se l'open world risulta un po' scarno e alcune integrazioni appaiono disordinate. Nonostante queste imperfezioni, il titolo si conferma solido e coinvolgente, capace di offrire ore e ore di intrattenimento soprattutto in compagnia. Non ancora il Mario Kart definitivo, ma un passo importante verso qualcosa che potrebbe diventarlo - anche solo con aggiornamenti mirati e DLC.

When its performance is stable and you’re explosively blasting your way through robots, MindsEye can masquerade as a serviceable action shooter for a few minutes at a time. Its near-future setting and driving feel also impress. However, its flashy graphics and cinematics can’t otherwise hide its distinct lack of substance. High on ambition but low on original ideas, MindsEye’s rigid mission design renders its open world largely pointless – and it’s consistently undermined by vanilla combat, janky AI enemies, and its sloppy frame rate and bugs. Throw in its insultingly unfinished free roaming component and it’s clear it was simply not ready to be released. If you had your sights set on MindsEye, think again.

Dès son annonce, MindsEye a attiré notre attention et le studio Build A Rocket Boy est parvenu à nous hyper. Hélas, au fil des mois, la communication très étrange du studio a transformé notre excitation en méfiance, jusqu’à nous faire douter. Force est de constater qu’on avait vu juste. MindsEye est clairement le gros raté de cette première partie de l’année. Un jeu qui n’est pas terminé, extrêmement buggué, instable, dépassé techniquement sur tous les points, avec une histoire intéressante, mais vraiment mal écrite. Cela nous donne un titre sans réel intérêt, qui vous occupera entre 10 et 12h. Comme quoi, même quand on s’appelle Leslie Benzies et que l’on a été le producteur de l’une des plus grosses saga de jeu vidéo et de la pop culture, cela ne fait pas tout pour diriger le développement complet d’un jeu qui se voulait être ambitieux et qui, finalement, est le pétard mouillé de l’été. On espère que le studio parviendra à proposer les mises à jour nécessaires, rapidement, pour permettre au moins d’avoir un jeu stable, sans bug.
