System Shock is, on paper, a brilliant remake that thoughtfully updates the 1994 original for modern systems, introducing both gyro aiming and mouse support along with a host of graphical upgrades. Unfortunately, the move over to the Switch 2 has tanked the performance, resulting in a game that never feels satisfying enough to play.

Terminator 2 : Le Jugement dernier est l’un de vos films de chevet ? Alors on ne peut que vous encourager à lancer une partie de Terminator 2D: No Fate, pur hommage old-school qui invoque de la 2D, des sensations d’antan et du pixel art pour réadapter le récit culte de James Cameron. Alors oui, le jeu mise ouvertement sur votre rapport à la nostalgie pour captiver votre attention, mais on ne peut qu’admirer le travail abattu par Bitmap Bureau. Non content d’être visuellement très réussi, Terminator 2D: No Fate s’efforce de varier un maximum les plaisirs dans un format terriblement compacte (une heure environ pour boucler une partie complète. C’est vraiment un jeu réalisé par des fans pour les fans.

Terminator 2D : No Fate est une déception majeure qui nous mène en bateau, réduisant le rôle du T-800 à quelques séquences tandis que les voies alternatives de l'histoire (vantées dans le marketing) s'avèrent extrêmement paresseuses. Qu'en reste-t-il ? Un pastiche soigné de l'ère 16/32-bits avec une excellente bande-son et pas grand-chose de plus. C'était mieux en bande-annonce.

Interestingly, half of what makes Terminator 2D fun is its painstaking reproduction of the movie on which it’s based. Were it to have no relationship to a beloved IP, it would likely be criticised for its brevity, linearity, and general simplicity. Once fully beaten, you won’t likely return to it for anything except a nostalgia hit, but T2 fans and 16-bit diehards will feel well-served by its detailed reminiscence.

Terminator 2D: No Fate is a nostalgic throwback to the time when Terminator 2: Judgement Day was released, and it feels very authentic to that. The shooting and action carry this game, making it feel like it was a tie-in released alongside the movie, but the short length and repetitive nature of it may weigh on some people and cause some questioning of its price tag. Regardless, even if you have never watched any of the Terminator movies, you may come away enjoying what this game is in its short spurts.

Learning to skate can be hell, and Skate Story proves this by taking us to what’s probably the weirdest vision of the underworld you’ll see without a belly full of Guatemalan Insanity Peppers. Fusing a solid foundation of satisfyingly grounded skate tricks with a bizarre, abstract world bathed in neon and starlight, Skate Story is a wild trip. I question its replayability and the limited nature of some of its objectives (and I did lose focus occasionally while tapping through its regular text-based conversations) but there’s no doubt it’s one of the most distinctive skateboarding games of the decade.
