Fight Night Round 3 è dunque un ottimo titolo, accattivante e ben studiato. Non ci è dato sapere quale standard abbiano considerato i detrattori di tale produzione, ma davvero non vediamo motivo di una così abbattente accoglienza. In effetti a questa versione di gioco mancano alcuni dei tratti che hanno distinto, negli ultimi anni, produzioni pugilistiche di rilievo: non è possibile dosare con precisione la forza dei colpi, ed il realismo viene leggermente offuscato dalla presenza di una “barra di salute”, ma Fight Night appare un prodotto fresco e vivace, in grado di appassionare ogni sorta di utente. Certo, sospettiamo che un utilizzo più sapiente dei tool di sviluppo, e forse una fase creativa indipendente dalle controparti per Home console, potrà in futuro portare a risultati ancora migliori, ma di certo come primo esempio di tridimensionale simulazione di Box, il titolo EA è più che decoroso. Le pecche grafiche dello sfondo, la palette di colori poco brillante e l’aliasing, vengono bilanciate da un ottimo editor del personaggio, da una buona disposizione di oggetti ed opzioni, e soprattutto di modalità. Nel contempo, la scarsa difficoltà delle sfide affrontate durante la “carriera” personale trovano opposizione nell’impegno richiesto durante gli scontri “storici”. Un titolo dunque che esce a testa alta dal confronto fra alti e bassi. Un prodotto che si lascia giocare dagli amanti del combattimento in genere, ma saprà appassionare anche i più distanti dalle produzioni sportive. Uno dei migliori prodotti in un mercato in via di transizione, ancora scarno ma pronto ad esplodere, grazie alle uscite imminenti.

If you're a racing fan ToCA Race Driver 3 is a no brainer. It's got game modes and racing disciplines bursting from every polygonal seam and it's smart enough to cater for beginners and novices alike.

Ce jeu a trois gros points faibles : son aspect très répétitif, son gameplay sans saveur et l'intelligence artificielle calamiteuse. Autant dire que si vous comptez jouer seul, ça n'a pas un grand intérêt. C'est un peu mieux en multijoueur car au moins, on n'a pas à se préoccuper de l'IA, mais bon, il ne faut vraiment rien avoir d'autre à se mettre sous le pad pour apprécier, car c'est tout de même un jeu basique et sans grande envergure.

Fight Night Round 3 is a great sports title, but negligible improvements in the career mode and idiotic computer AI hold the game back from true greatness. Removing the HUD, in combination with visible emotion, creates a more instinctive boxing experience, especially when moving in for the knockout. There are some strange choices in the presentation department, like the lack of rankings, but the outstanding graphics and sound effects create a great in-game experience, which is what counts. The impact punches are a great addition, and the tension from a well-placed stun punch creates a true white-knuckle experience. Creating a fighter and taking the title belt provides decent entertainment value, but the real fun lies in beating your friends’ faces in. Try (or not, as the case may be) as the computer might, it’s your friends who will be your true rivals.
