Flipping Death is similar to its spiritual predecessor in many ways. It has a lovely aesthetic that never gets old and a type of silly humour that seems to have become a trademark for the developer. While the platforming is a lot more fun, the physics based mechanics rubbed me the wrong way and I didn’t care much for revisiting the same level (and possessing the same characters) over and over. It’s still an enjoyable game for a single runthrough and one that I would recommend for fans of the genre.

The Crew 2 isn’t afraid to try some new stuff, but it should have spent a bit more time looking at established racers to avoid making obvious mistakes like having us eye the minimap too often. The random hitbox detection and unforgiving AI can also be a cause for frustration, especially in the longer races. It may be flawed, but there’s a ton of content and the base game is still fun to play , so I’m still recommending this to fans of the genre.

Far Cry 5 is a huge game with plenty to do and a natural sense of progression. The main story is all over the place and requires plenty suspension of disbelief but it still ends up being enough to drive the narrative and it’ll keep you coming back until you’ve completed all it has to offer. If you want some bang for your buck, Ubisoft open world games are usually a pretty safe bet and this is no exception!

ONRUSH is a fantastically fun game that reminds us why we love to get behind the virtual wheel and boost/takedown our way through the opposition. I may have come over as too negative with those last few remarks though but I absolutely had a lovely time with it and in fact, I’d rather be playing more of it instead of writing this review. I just can’t help but raise the red flag on the few major issues it has. If Codemasters manages to tackle some of these, you can add at least half a point to the score at the end of this review. EDIT: and that’s just what I did; bugfixes combined with listening to community feedback made me up the score to an 8!

The actual giant ogre-slaying gameplay is a lot of fun, but it’s not enough to carry an entire game on its shoulders. Repetitive gameplay and a boring story keep the game from being any fun beyond the first few hours. If the developers had spent an extra year creating different environments and characters we could feel some sympathy for, than we might have had a more than decent game on our hands. The current product feels like you’re replaying the exact same level over and over again so I simply can’t recommend getting it at full Retail Price.

Assassin’s Creed Origins takes the series in a new direction with more RPG elements and it’s better for it. The game has a huge map with an incredible density of things to do which will keep you busy for well over 100 hours. It looks amazing and especially those playing on an Xbox One X hooked up to a 4K/HDR TV will not believe their eyes at how simply gorgeous it is. The production quality here is off the charts and I can’t help but look forward to where the series might be headed next. But for now? I’ll gladly dive back in for a NewGame+ This is a MUST purchase, people!

Evoland 2 is a fun experience above all. You’re constantly curious about what will happen next in this timetravelling tale. The many different gameplay mechanics all fit together nicely and do their best at not making the game outstay its welcome. However, the somewhat slow pacing combined with often not knowing where (and when!) to go next makes it feel longer than it actually is. On Mobile devices it also has some pour design choices when it comes to the controls. But when all the pros and cons are weighed, it remains such a brave attempt at creating a fresh experience and it has so many humorous references to other popular media that it still makes for a worthy purchase. I’d recommend getting the PC version if you have the option though, as it provides the better experience.
