There are a handful of Japanese companies that laid down many of the foundations for gaming. SNK, along with Taito, Capcom, Sega, Namco, and Nintendo was one of those pioneers, and had a prolific run of quality coin-ops. This collection is a fitting commemoration of those efforts and will undoubtedly please retro enthusiasts. Although younger gamers might see these as antiquated curios, there’s still fun to be had with these spirited, sprite-based titles.

Warriors Orochi 4 takes that notion to the extreme, as teams cleave through opposition and when confronted by rivals, generate screen-filled displays of might.

Most fifteen-year old games exhibit a bit of aging, but Disgaea 1 Complete feels just as enjoyable and relevant as it did in 2003. The timeless Fire Pro Wrestling gameplay burns as brightly as it ever has. World is leaner on default content than I was expecting given the series' history, but a quality Edit Mode and FPW Net community creations help to fill the void. For years, wrestling fans have wanted an alternative to the annual WWE 2K game and now they have it. Better yet, this one's a strong contender.
