On the whole, this furious shooter is a nice little addition at a great price for any PS3 owner whose recent hardware purchase has left their wallet a little on the slim side.

Blast Factor is an accessible first attempt for the PlayStation Store and Network, but it doesn't stand out in any one area. There are countless games of its genre that do it better, some of which are more than 20 years old, and its use of tilt functionality doesn't change that. With its planned two-player update and eventual specimen additions it does have the potential to get better -- but right now, it's a simple and safe time-eater to test your ten bucks on while we wait for flOw and other downloadable titles.

Blast Factor è un acquisto consigliato ai patiti degli Shoot’em Up, e a pochi altri. Anche se il rapporto qualità/prezzo è decisamente elevato, il titolo dei Bluepoint (feat. Santa Monica Studio) è poco consistente. Le potenzialità per costruire un gameplay profondo ci sono tutte: un buon set di nemici con reazioni diversificate ed un sistema di gioco leggermente più complesso (ma non ridondante) degli standard. Tuttavia l’assenza di un grado di sfida adeguato e di uno stimolo sensibile all’auto-miglioramento tradisce l’essenza di tutti i congeneri e rende Blast Factor piuttosto evanescente. Gradevole per qualche pomeriggio, adatto a brevi partite con gli amici, Blast Factor non ha il mordente per “sfondare” e diventare un titolo “virtualmente interminabile” come il suo concorrente, vero re del Live Arcade. Aspettiamo il rilascio di qualche Add On o di una versione in grado di rapportarsi meglio con le esigenze dei giocatori che intendono sfruttare le classifiche online ed il servizio Playstation Network.
