Overall Alien: Isolation is the game Alien fans have been waiting for. In spite of the numerous broken promises in the last 35 years, Creative Assembly has successfully formatted a love letter to fans of the franchise, one that has taken far too long to get here. A golden standard has been set for all future titles in the Alien universe. Simply put, Isolation is the definitive Alien game that no fan should miss out on.

There have been many games based on the Alien series over the years, but Alien: Isolation is the first that truly does justice to the original movie. Eschewing balls-out action for dread, terror and a feeling of utter powerlessness in the face of a perfect killing machine, this game will scare the pants off of you again and again and make you feel intense relief simply at having made it through a tricky section. It’ll also frustrate you and push your patience to the limits, which means that it won’t appeal to everyone. If you’re used to being handheld through first-person shooters, you’ll find Alien: Isolation to be a markedly different experience. In some ways, we welcome that: it’s not often you play a game that demands this much concentration to play. It’s healthy to be challenged, and it’s rewarding when you finally triumph. But because it’s such an intense experience, you may feel that it’s not always enjoyable. Me? I mostly loved it. Mostly.

Endlich wieder ein gutes Alien-Spiel! Die Entwickler von Creative Assembly haben es verstanden, das beklemmende Gefühl und die düstere Atmosphäre des Film-Klassikers eindrucksvoll einzufangen und liefern mit Alien: Isolation einen packenden Kampf ums Überleben. Zwar sorgt der deutlich überlegene und unberechenbare Xenomorph für viele Frustmomente, doch überwiegt der aufregende Nervenkitzel, der durch die vielen spannenden Situationen, die Hilflosigkeit und Ungewissheit entsteht. Leider nagen künstliche Streckungen und viel Recycling innerhalb der langen Kampagne an der Motivation. Zudem versperren zahlreiche Bugs, Ruckel-Videos, Ladezeiten und die mäßige Story den Weg zum Award. Sega liefert aber endlich eine längst überfällige Wiedergutmachung für die enttäuschenden Colonial Marines. Ja, Spannung, Panik und Frust liegen sehr dicht beieinander: Trotzdem hat es bisher kein anderes Spiel geschafft, die bedrohliche Kreatur und Ridley Scotts Filmvorlage so überzeugend einzufangen wie dieses Alien: Isolation.

The game becomes less about being scared of the Alien and more about confronting a worthy adversary and trying your damndest to best him at every turn (by running away from him, of course). The crafting and resource system allows several different methods to distract it or ward it off for a time -- usually a short, short time -- but none of these methods are foolproof. This makes Isolation the highest-stakes chess match you will ever play, and there's nothing wrong with that. Despite having a few superfluous levels, Alien: Isolation ends up being a game Alien and survival horror fans can hold in high esteem.

Alien: Isolation, nonostante qualche peccato veniale – dovuto probabilmente a un tempo di rilascio prematuro di qualche mese – è a conti fatti un gran bel gioco horror. Che un po’ riporta alla mente le atmosfere cupe e ostili di Outlast, un po’ quelle degradate e malinconiche di Bioshock, un po’ quelle desolate e opprimenti diDead Space 2. Il tutto in un gameplay che fa dell’intuitività quanto della profondità intrinseca i propri punti di forza. Se giocare a nascondino con un alieno assassino è un’idea che vi intriga, non esitate e fate vostro Alien: Isolation, soprattutto se siete fan della saga. Altrimenti dategli un’occhiata e, se ne avete modo, provatelo. Potrebbe spaventarvi abbastanza da piacervi.

Alien Isolation supone el reencuentro de los fans de la franquicia con el mundo de los videojuegos tras unas últimas entregas no demasiado satisfactorias. Bajo un apartado técnico a gran nivel en líneas generales se esconde un estilo de juego que termina por volverse demasiado repetitivo al abusar de las mecánicas hide and seek. El gran punto fuerte es su atmósfera, basada en la película de Ridley Scott, que consigue atrapar al seguidor de la serie Alien hasta el sorpresivo final.

Alien Isolation vaut-il le coup ? Hormis la présence de quelques petites soucis techniques, si vous êtes un amateur de frissons et de la saga Alien, ce jeu vous fera passer un excellent moment. Nous attendions de ce dernier opus quelque chose de nouveau, et nous voilà servis. Oubliez le zigouillage de créatures, oubliez les précédentes et honteuses adaptations vidéoludiques de la série de Ridley Scott ! Avec son ambiance suffocante, saupoudrée d’une tension palpable, Alien Isolation est sans conteste la meilleure adaptation vidéoludique des films de Ridley Scott

Alien: Isolation semblait, sur le papier, être le parfait jeu Alien. Et pendant les premières heures, on même dire qu’il tient sa promesse. Notamment grâce à ses graphismes hors du commun et sa bande sonore qui recrée fidèlement l’ambiance du film d’horreur. Mais finalement, ce qui était le "grand espoir xénomorphique" devient sur une nouvelle déception pour un jeu sous licence bourré de potentiel du point du vue du divertissement. Il est dommage qu’Isolation ne conserve pas les statistiques, car j’aurais été curieux de savoir combien de temps, sur les 15 à 20 heures de campagne, j’ai pu passer dans des placards à fixer le traqueur de mouvement et surtout, combien de centaines (oui, centaines) de fois je suis mort sans avoir la moindre chance de m’en sortir. Il peut sembler étrange de se plaindre de la trop grande durée d’un jeu, mais quand les fantastiques moments de peur (lorsque l'on est chassé par un prédateur impossible à arrêter) sont diluées dans une trop grande répétitivité, l'interminable longueur de la campagne d’Isolation joue finalement contre lui. Un beau jour, quelqu’un va faire un jeu vidéo Alien incroyable qui répondra à tous les critères. Mais malheureusement, ce n’est pas dans Alien: Isolation.
