Graphically, Godfall is an absolute triumph while also delivering fun pickup and play combat that will appeal to a more casual crowd. With up to three in multiplayer, or a very viable solo implementation, the game is a fun but repetitive romp through a faux-Arthurian world. While there are some technical hurdles to patch, there’s a lot of fun to be had here. Now let’s just hope we get to someday see the rest!

Godfall es un título de acción RPG y hack and slash es un videojuego realmente correcto, entretenido y visualmente muy llamativo, un combate profundo y técnico, además de un sistema de progresión y personalización de habilidades que nos anima a experimentar, y que también se ve espectacular. Aunque cuenta con ligeras piedras en el camino, como por ejemplo una historia algo corta poco profunda, y un diseño de misiones y estructuración de las mismas quizá hubiera necesitado un poco más de tiempo para crear algo más diferente.

Godfall n’est pas la première claque “Next Gen”, mais s’avère plaisant à parcourir, les premières heures du moins, avant de souffrir d’une répétitivité qui détériore sensiblement l’expérience de jeu. Son système de combat à la fois accessible et exigeant, ses visuels attrayants, son chara design inspiré et sa générosité pour tout ce qui touche au loot en font un Action-RPG solide, mais incapable de se renouveler sur la durée. Et ce ne sont ni le récit anecdotique ni l’univers sous-exploité qui corrigent le tir. Counterplay Games et Gearbox Publishing nous livrent un titre honnête qui devrait convenir aux joueurs en quête de joutes intenses et de personnalisation.

Derivativo, con nessuna idea davvero originale e con meccaniche sovrabbondanti e non sempre ben calcolate, Godfall è la vittima sacrificale tra i titoli di lancio PS5. Probabilmente uscito con la fretta di arrivare in concomitanza con la nuova console Sony, il progetto di Counterplay Games naufraga nel mare di quei titoli che dimenticherete piuttosto in fretta.

Godfall mag er dan grafisch wel next-gen waardig uitzien, het kan helaas niet opboksen tegen grotere titels binnen hetzelfde genre. Het combat-systeem is vermakelijk en speelt erg soepel, mede door de variatie in wapens. Helaas is het verhaal een gemiste kans om uit te pakken met de rijke geschiedenis die de game had kunnen bieden en is er weinig reden om te grinden voor betere loot. Ook de end-game laat behoorlijk de wensen te over met zijn veel te repetitieve manier van spelen.

Godfall est une jolie vitrine technique - qui sera vite dépassée - pour votre PS5 et qui montre un intérêt très limité en termes de jouabilité, très limitée, peu variée et répétitive. On ne fait quasiment que se battre, sans grand entrain. L'exploration est réduite à peau de chagrin, et l'aspect RPG ne vous fera pas passer des heures dans les menus, peu ergonomiques. Même le côté action se montre plutôt rigide et basique. Et les quelques bugs que vous devrez croiser n'arrangeront pas le tableau. Par contre, c'est sûr, c'est beau. Que ce soit en termes de design ou de technique, c'est réussi, assurément. Cela sera-t-il suffisant pour faire passer la pilule du nouveau tarif de base de notre loisir préféré ? Ce n'est pas si sûr...

Abbiamo scelto di dare la sufficienza a Godfall perché, nonostante le sue grandi lacune e i suoi evidenti difetti, è riuscito a strapparci qualche ora di divertimento nel corso della sua campagna principale. Il combattimento, croce e delizia di ogni action che si rispetti è infatti viscerale e immediato ed è davvero un peccato che denoti con forza quella mancanza di direzione e completezza che affligge l'intero gioco. Sembra quasi che i ragazzi di Counterplay Games abbiano fatto le corse pur di far uscire il gioco in concomitanza con il lancio di PS5 e, per raggiungere questo scopo, abbiano tagliato con l'accetta e chiuso prima del previsto moltissime parti del loro progetto. Magari, se tra 8 o 12 mesi il titolo sarà ancora giocato e lo sviluppatore proverà a supportarlo potrebbe diventare qualcosa di più interessante ma, per il momento, non ci sentiamo di consigliare il suo acquisto a occhi chiusi.

Godfall is such an unpleasant experience it's difficult for me to find anything to like. Occasionally, it flirts with just being a mediocre snooze, but then you hit an aggravating boss fight that reminds you of how poorly it was designed. It would take an entire shift in tone and genre to salvage anything offered.
