God of War Ragnarok is phenomenal. Even amongst PlayStation Studios' typically stellar output it's a showpiece — a masterfully crafted game that smashes expectations at almost every turn. The sheer, often ridiculous scope of Ragnarok makes 2018's God of War feel like a prologue — and that's perhaps the highest praise we can bestow upon a sequel.

La note parfaite pour un jeu qui l'est tout autant, voilà ce qui résume ce God of War : Ragnarök. On se demande encore comment les développeurs ont réussi le tour de force de faire encore mieux que le précédent opus qui semblait parfait pour tous les médias & joueurs qui l'ont testé. Mais la réponse est simple : le savoir-faire. Se renouveler n'est jamais facile, mais mélanger un style pareil avec une écriture qui va vous émouvoir comme jamais, c'est du génie. On parlera encore de ce jeu dans 20 ans, car beaucoup en reviendront secoués. Voici donc mon jeu de l'année et j'espère qu'il sera le vôtre...

God of War Ragnarok conferma la tendenza dei PlayStation Studios nello sfornare titoli single player dall’incredibile ed elevata qualità, capaci di bilanciare perfettamente sia la narrazione che il gameplay. A differenza di molti dei suoi “cugini” però, la nuova avventura di Santa Monica Studio abbatte il concetto di more of the same migliorando esponenzialmente ogni singolo aspetto del suo predecessore. Il rapporto padre-figlio che va a saldarsi nel corso della storia rappresenta il culmine di una narrazione mai banale e ricca di sequenze inattese per ciò che ci ha raccontato il passato. Una storia che purtroppo ha una sua fine, ma che allo stesso tempo lascia una porta aperta sul futuro della serie, che grazie al finale di Ragnarok potrebbe avere ancora molto da raccontare. Ciò di cui siamo consapevoli però è che dobbiamo soltanto ringraziare gli sviluppatori per questa incredibile avventura di cui abbiamo fatto parte, perché racconti simili è sempre bello leggerli, ma potervi addirittura partecipare è stato un privilegio a cui difficilmente qualcuno dovrebbe rinunciare. Alla fine di tutto non possiamo che urlare dalla cima più alta dei 9 regni che God of War Ragnarok non solo è un capolavoro mitologico, ma un titolo che resterà scoppito nel mito per tantissimo tempo!

Santa Monica insegnaci la vita! God of War Ragnarok è il seguito perfetto di un gioco difficile da uguagliare (94 Metascore, 9.1 User Score). Ragnarok però lo supera, sia per meccaniche di gioco, migliorate e ulteriormente stratificate, che per trama. Una storia intensa, senza mai un attimo di pausa o di noia, narrata divinamente e coadiuvata da una regia impeccabile, da una colonna sonora strepitosa e da un doppiaggio all'altezza di quelli cinematografici. Non è forse il gioco di riferimento per la grafica next-gen, nonostante di passi in avanti ce ne siano stati, ma sinceramente poco importa. Per quanto mi riguarda è il GOTY di questo 2022.

Faites-nous confiance, vous adorerez vivre la fin du monde prophétique de God of War Ragnarok. Ce nouvel épisode renferme une épopée bouleversante, épique, généreuse et extrêmement dense. Santa Monica fait au minimum très bien concernant chaque aspect de son jeu et promet de vous faire ressentir une ribambelle d’émotions, assez pour écarter d’un revers de la main ses quelques faiblesses. Et puis si les sensations en termes de gameplay ne sont pas bouleversées par des changements drastiques, elles demeurent exceptionnelles et s’étoffent de très beaux ajouts. Si vous pensiez que la saga nordique n’aurait plus rien de nouveau à offrir, l’aventure de Ragnarok vous démontre vite le contraire.

Dopo una lunga attesa, i venti del Fimbulwinter ci hanno condotto nel cuore di un'epopea che chiude magistralmente l'ordalia norrena dello spartano. Recuperando con convinzione e perizia il taglio più viscerale ed intimista del precedente capitolo, God of War: Ragnarok riesce a fare anche di più: donare al pubblico uno spettacolare punto d'approdo per l'intera saga, con un racconto poderoso, toccante e intriso di richiami antologici che i fan di lunga data non potranno fare a meno di adorare. A sostegno di questo tesoretto narrativo, troviamo un combat system sfaccettato e appagante, che rielabora i tratti chiave del predecessore per proporre un calderone di opportunità guerresche mai così ricco, ardente di furia ma al contempo denso di sfumature tattiche. Questo col contributo di sistemi di progressione ed equipaggiamento che favoriscono la varietà combattiva, con la complicità di un maggiore assortimento di nemici ed interazioni ambientali. Parlando di diversità ludica, abbiamo sicuramente apprezzato tanto l'ampliamento degli scenari esplorabili, quanto quello degli enigmi ambientali che scandiscono la progressione, tra le maglie di un mondo capace di rapire i sensi in un continuo susseguirsi di scorci mozzafiato. Al netto di qualche piccola asperità, insomma, l'ultima opera di Santa Monica Studio ci ha regalato un'esperienza straordinaria, destinata a lasciare un segno indelebile nella memoria collettiva della platea videoludica.

God of War Ragnarök is to God of War (2018) as God of War II was to God of War. God of War II may not have changed much mechanically, but it made nuanced improvements to gameplay, story and level design, all while injecting much-needed variety into the enemies and environments. These improvements yielded a fantastic sequel that remains one of the best entries in the franchise. Likewise, God of War Ragnarök successfully takes the foundation of God of War (2018) and makes various refinements to improve the experience. The story is bigger, bolder and filled with engrossing twists and narrative moments, yet never forgets its characters and their personal stories. Visiting the nine realms is fantastic, though the quality of each varies greatly. Combat is as rich, deep and satisfying as before, with a handful of new twists that add variety to the mechanics. The only real downside is the unsatisfying companion actions and the poor Sigil Arrows, though the AI remains faithfully competent. It’s all packaged together in a beautiful presentation, that despite being saddled with cross-gen technology, still remains one of the best-looking games of the generation. God of War Ragnarök doesn’t change the game, but it successfully builds on its predecessor’s foundations to deliver a compelling, layered and engaging title that’s as fun to play as it is to look at. This is one war that Kratos and players won’t want to prevent.

Il n’est pas aisé de passer après un monument du jeu vidéo tel que God of War 2018. Les attentes étaient énormes, mais les épaules de Kratos sont larges et même si l'on peut regretter une certaine automatisation des actions, par sa narration et son gameplay toujours aussi efficace, Santa Monica Studios parvient à délivrer un nouveau chef d’œuvre qui saura vous transporter et vous toucher pour hisser l’escapade nordique de la licence au sommet de l’olympe !

God of War Ragnarok è bello esattamente come il suo predecessore, ma per motivi profondamente diversi. È più maturo in tutte le dinamiche di gameplay, più completo, più profondo e presenta un sistema di combattimento molto più vario, stratificato e gratificante. Però nel suo essere un sequel così fedele e coerente con il passato, perde per strada qualsiasi elemento di reale novità, si diluisce nella sua progressione e si scrolla di dosso anche quel tono di epicità che aveva contraddistinto il soft reboot. In fin dei conti è un more of the same; un bellissimo, divertente, longevo more of the same.

게임 디자인은 발전이 없고, 이야기는 창의성이 결여된 채 한 자리를 맴돈다. 하나의 총체적 체험으로써 제대로 지휘가 이루어지고 있던 전작과 다르게 이 게임은 영혼 없는 모듈들이 결합한 기계처럼 느껴진다. 아무리 익숙한 경험을 안전하게 구현하는 것이 목적이었다 하더라도 더욱 신선하게 포장할 수 있었을 터인데, 이 게임은 그런 노력이 미비한 전작의 DLC처럼 느껴진다.
