Narration sombre que l’on dévore du début à une fin qui marquera les esprits sur le long terme, personnages attachants, mise en scène convaincante, VF de très grande qualité, bande-son magistrale, gameplay amélioré et level design offrant plus de liberté, claque graphique et artistique constante… A Plague Tale: Requiem est un jeu inoubliable qui prend aux tripes. Si Innocence était un excellent jeu en 2019, sa suite est un véritable chef-d’œuvre digne d’un sérieux prétendant au statut de GOTY, n’en déplaise au public le plus exigeant et aux puristes qui pourraient lui reprocher quelques défauts insignifiants.

In 2019, Asobo surprised us all with a game that found a way to utilize AAA tropes in the pursuit of a compelling narrative. Three years later, Asobo have not only bested that prior effort, they might well have crafted one of the best follow-ups not just of this year, but of the past few years. It’s hard not to understate just how much more refined, fleshed out and expanded in scope A Plague Tale: Requiem both looks and feels. But it’s because the game is firing on so many cylinders where the former surprise of prior comes flooding back in a sequel that manages to exceed even such high expectations going into this. Terrific story and performances from its cast, smart progression, a compelling stealth-focused gameplay loop, an expanded palette in its visuals and a soundtrack that underscores the roller-coaster of emotion underpinning all of this. A Plague Tale: Requiem seldom loses its footing — a sequel and indeed a tale that’s both ambitious and compelling to the very end.

A Plague Tale: Requiem è uno splendido inno all’amore fraterno, un'esperienza potente ed appassionante che vale la pena di giocare intensamente dall'inizio alla fine, in nome di una profondità narrativa che nel panorama videoludico è ormai divenuta sempre più rara. Il gioco riparte dalle solide basi di Innocence per dare vita ad un’esperienza più evoluta, più ricca e stimolante da giocare, grazie a delle interessanti soluzioni che favoriscono la libertà di approccio del giocatore. Anche stavolta la storia di Amicia e Hugo non è certo priva difetti, eppure la qualità complessiva dell’opera sovrasta le imperfezioni centrando in pieno l'obiettivo e andando a costruire un’opera che mostra ancora una volta tutta la sua struggente bellezza e la sua straordinaria caratura narrativa.

A Plague Tale: Requiem es una secuela en el mejor y en el peor sentido de la palabra. Por un lado, su continuismo respecto a la obra original intenta romperse con la inclusión de unas nuevas mecánicas que no funcionan del todo bien y que la mayoría de las veces lastran la aventura, virando más hacia una acción que no le sienta nada bien en detrimento de unos puzles o situaciones más calmadas, dónde destaca como siempre. Por otro lado, el juego brilla más que nunca contando una historia que va más allá de lo que podemos imaginar y que no deja de escalar insaciablemente hasta llegar al clímax con un final difícil de olvidar. Un final apabullante para una historia apasionante que nos coge de la mano para no soltarnos ni un instante, por nada y contra todo, tal y como hace Amicia con su querido hermano, Hugo.

Sin aportar grandes novedades jugables, A Plague Tale Requiem suple la falta de innovación respecto a su predecesor Innocence, apostando por una jugabilidad de la vieja escuela que, lamentablemente, cada vez vemos menos en la actualidad. Si te gustan las aventuras cuidadas, hermosas en el fondo y en la forma y que te mantienen pegado a la pantalla, no te lo puedes perder.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is an impressive sequel to one of my favorite action-adventure games, upping the ante in almost every way. It doesn’t do a ton to distinguish itself from its predecessor in terms of its actual gameplay mechanics, but with a depressing yet awesome story, fantastic graphics, and rat-filled moments that I’ll never forget, this unique adventure very much deserves your attention. I certainly wish it were more ambitious with its stealth action sandbox and took more risks than it does, but it’s still a worthy follow-up that left me with some great memories and a few recurring nightmares.

A Plague Tale : Requiem est une franche réussite qui nous a, une fois de plus, laissé le cœur en miettes, après une bonne séance d'angoisse. Amicia prend son envol dans cet opus de la maturité et redéfinit la manière dont elle aborde son aventure, un choix qu'Asobo Studio a fait pour lui-même également. Nous avons droit à plus d'émotions, plus d'espace, et surtout plus d'options de gameplay, bien que le tout reste très fidèle à son essence. Malgré quelques couacs au niveau de la technique, Requiem est une aventure terriblement absorbante.

Technical limitations get in the way some of the time, but with improved stealth and combat mechanics, this is a really well-rounded game that excels at nearly everything it does. On dit souvent que les suites sont généralement toujours moins réussies que les premiers opus. Ici, ce n’est pas le cas. A Plague Tale : Requiem redouble d’intensité et de drame dans son scénario, approfondissant les relations entre les personnages. Artistiquement, il voit encore plus grand en proposant des environnements plus ambitieux, mais toujours aussi splendides et une bande-son marquante. Le gameplay n’est pas en reste non plus, donnant plus d’options au joueur grâce à un panel d’outils plus complets. Requiem arrondit les angles et capitalise sur ses forces pour délivrer un très bon jeu.

A Plague Tale: Requiem me ha parecido un ejercicio tan remarcable en lo visual como irregular en lo mecánico y narrativo. Un videojuego competente que gustará a aquellos que disfrutaron del primero, pero que repite, e incluso diría que intensifica, algunos de los desaciertos que se le señalaron al original.

A Plague Tale: Requiem is a sometimes compelling adventure weighed down by poor technical performance, and simple, frustrating and repetitive gameplay. While the stealth action can be enjoyable, and the puzzle elements of using the impressive hordes of rats to your advantage can be engaging, it’s a game that introduces compelling ideas but never really capitalizes on any of them. Pair that with some dodgy AI and it’s a game that’s at its best when the characters are simply walking through the world, talking to each other.
