Está claro que habrá gente con tantas ganas de jugar a Borderlands 2 en una portátil que incluso superarán los problemas de esta versión para PS Vita, pero este hecho no elimina estos inconvenientes. Borderlands 2 es un gran juego, punto. Pero queda poco de aquello que hizo de este juego algo verdaderamente que no haya sido corrompido por los problemas técnicos de este trabajo. El retoque gráfico le resta algo de carisma, mientras que su rendimiento errático y los controles táctiles poco fiables evitan que la jugabilidad brille como lo hizo en el pasado.

Los usuarios de PS Vita finalmente reciben Borderlands 2, un título a la altura de la consola, aunque este lleve casi un par de años disponible en otras versiones. Esto puede hacer tirar para atrás a la hora de adquirirlo a algunos usuarios, pero no os engañéis, Borderlands 2 os va a proporcionar 60 horas de auténtica acción RPG, incluso continuando la partida que quizás habéis dejado ya olvidada en vuestra PS3, y además con un precio muy competitivo.

Finding an orange rarity item is still as exciting as it would be on console, as is the tactical depth if you want it. Esta versión de Borderlands 2 para PS Vita ofrece prácticamente el mismo contenido que nos hizo disfrutar durante mucho tiempo en el resto de ediciones destinadas a máquinas de sobremesa. El problema es que sus problemas técnicos notorios, sobre todo su inconsistente tasa de cuadros por segundo, terminan dañando de manera ostensible a la jugabilidad. Aún así se trata de una aventura estimable y sensacional, pero podría haber sido mucho mejor.

Borderlands 2 on PS Vita is probably the most polarizing game I've ever played. On one hand, the mission structure is perfect for a handheld, controls are responsive (aside from the touchpad) and it looks good despite the handheld's limitations. On the other hand, the amount of bugs and problems that come with it indicate that it just wasn't ready for release and could have used some extra time in development. Borderlands 2 is serious fun, but has serious problems.

Con Bordelands 2 Iron Galaxy riesce a portare su PlayStation Vita tutta la vastità dell'opera di Gearbox Software. Purtroppo però lo fa senza ottenere gli stessi risultati dell'originale a causa sicuramente di qualche limitazione tecnica del portatile di Sony, rispetto ovviamente alle piattaforme domestiche, ma anche di una certa superficialità di fondo, forse, da parte degli stessi sviluppatori nell'operare sul porting, come dimostrano i numerosi bug. Un vero peccato, perché poi le basi per quello che poteva essere uno dei titoli di punta per Vita di questa stagione ci sono tutte, a cominciare dalla bellezza del gioco in sé e dalla notevole mole di contenuti. Troppo poco però per rendere l'esperienza valida come quella vissuta con la controparte domestica e meritarsi la sufficienza piena.

La versione PlayStation Vita di Borderlands 2 è un disastro. E ci ricorda una volta di più, se non si fosse imparata la lezione, che è davvero difficile riuscire ad adattare con successo un titolo pensato per home console alle specifiche ed alle dotazioni di una piattaforma portatile. Ai tempi della PSP molti utenti si lamentavano dei porting di qualità scadente, che poco servivano a caratterizzare la line-up e sembravano solo versioni monche dei titoli originali. Dobbiamo dire che per fortuna la condotta di Sony con la nuova console “tascabile” è stata ben diversa, e quindi potremmo anche dimenticare questo passo falso. La nuova edizione dello sparatutto Gearbox, del resto, è davvero da evitare: non lasciatevi sedurre dalla presenza dei DLC o dalle funzionalità cross-save. Il gioco arriva non solo con un colpo d'occhio meno efficace, ma funestato da una conversione criminosa: tempi di caricamento estesi, lag generalizzato, interfaccia che sta tremendamente stretta, sul piccolo schermo di Vita. Ma soprattutto un framerate intabile e un multiplayer “dimezzato” e martoriato. Il consiglio è quello di passare oltre, evitando quella che sembra, più che una concessione ai giocatori, una mossa di marketing per far apparire più “ruggente” la line-up di PsVita.

Wie gut wäre also ein technologisch einwandfreier Hosentaschen-Shooter mit dem Umfang eines Konsolenspiels? Borderlands 2 gibt darauf leider keine Antwort. Es ist zwar inhaltlich nahezu vollständig und mit sechs Downloadinhalten auf dem Handheld erschienen, wurde aber so schlecht auf Vita übertragen, dass das Spielen keinen Spaß macht. Zum einen macht die miserable Bildrate präzises Zielen fast unmöglich, zum anderen ist das Benutzen des hinteren Touchfelds ein Graus, weil jede Berührung den Verlust eines festen Griffs bedeutet und die damit verbundene Aktion aus Versehen oder nicht zuverlässig ausgelöst wird – beides ein Unding in einem schnellen Shooter. Unangenehm auch, dass sich die Beute, um die sich hier alles dreht, so schnell auflöst, dass in langen Gefechten Gegenstände verloren gehen. Das Lachen über die durchgeknallten Figuren blieb mir dank der miserablen Technik diesmal jedenfalls im Hals stecken.

Surely, there will be people who are so hungry to play Borderlands 2 on-the-go, that they’ll be willing to put up with the Vita version’s issues, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Borderlands 2 is a great game, full stop. But very little of what’s made it a blast to play over the last couple of years hasn’t been poisoned by this version’s technical issues. Its compromised visuals rob it of much of its bombastic charm, while its erratic performance and unreliable touch controls keep the gameplay from shining like it has in the past.
