Overall, Nights of Azure is challenging, but it is fun and rewarding when those challenges are overcome. The game isn’t overly ambitious, with a small world, simple objectives and seven chapters of story content. Even so, it can inspire many hours of gameplay and engage the imagination.

Bien recreado, plasmado con acierto y rebosante de contenido, Nights of Azure nos mantendrá muchas horas atrapados por su variado y sugerente desarrollo así como por la progresión y alcance de la relación sentimental existente entre dos de sus protagonistas. Sí, está en inglés y gráficamente no brilla, pero su jugabilidad es muy sólida y tiene mucho que ofrecer. Un nuevo trabajo más que plausible de Keisuke Kikuchi, el mismo que nos regaló obras tan simbólicas y queridas como Fatal Frame (Project Zero) y Deception.

Nights of Azure is a solid action RPG. The large number and variety of Servans add a strategic element to the real-time combat. The well-crafted story and soundtrack create an enjoyable backdrop for a fleshed-out gaming experience. Optional activities, such as the battle arena in the hotel basement and side quests, provide additional content to power up your character as well as take a break from the main questline. At the surface this appears as another sexualized Anime-styled game, but there is a worthwhile experience beneath that packaging.

Nights of Azure supone un nuevo estilo de juego para Gust y un nuevo tipo de historia más oscura, dos elementos que pueden atraer a esos jugadores que no gustan del combate por turnos hacia este título, donde los enfrentamientos son en tiempo real y cuyo componente estratégico lo salva de ser un mero machaque de botones. Su desarrollo rápido y nivel de dificultad creciente pero asequible también pueden hacerlo atractivo para aquellos que busquen una historia profunda, pero que no tarde varias horas en arrancar o exija leer interminables diálogos entre personajes. El contenido post-juego y algunos extras más terminan de redondear un juego que donde más flojea es en su apartado técnico, pero que aún así no desmerece las horas de entretenimiento ni nuestra inmersión en la complicada historia de Arnice y Lilysse.

Si Nights of Azure est indubitablement une incursion intéressante de Gust dans le monde de l’action-RPG, son manque d’intensité général le pénalise grandement face aux ténors du genre. La direction artistique comme musicale reste cependant très efficace et le jeu a ses très bons moments, aux rangs desquels sa fin en apothéose.

Sarebbe stato facile puntare tutto sulla peculiare storia intorno alla quale ruota Nights of Azure, ma sarebbe stato anche ingiusto nei confronti di Gust che ha avuto il coraggio di proporre qualcosa di nuovo e di uscire dal suo solito seminato. Purtroppo l'esperimento è riuscito soltanto a metà perché, aldilà della bella storia e dell'interessante sistema di combattimento, Nights of Azure è un titolo tecnicamente vetusto, troppo facile quando non diventa improvvisamente troppo difficile e discretamente ripetitivo. Resta comunque una buona base su cui costruire un nuovo brand che non mancheremo di seguire con attenzione.

While Nights of Azure isn’t going to wow anybody, it’s still worth checking out for hack ‘n’ slash fans who enjoy their games with a touch of anime charm. Hopping into a new area to take on hoards of enemies is always fun, and sending out your Servans to dish out their own damage only multiplies that. While the story isn’t really anything great, its shortcomings are easy to overlook thanks to a charming cast of characters. It has its flaws like many other hack ‘n’ slash games, but there are enough good ingredients to recommend it to those craving more from the genre.

Nights of Azure è un action J-RPG dotato di alcune ottime idee ma soffre e arranca a causa di una doppia anima che non gli permette di attestarsi su vette qualitative memorabili. Da un lato infatti possiamo godere di un titolo dal gameplay frenetico, poco tecnico e divertente, sorretto da un comparto ruolistico profondo e sfaccettato e da una storia d'amore in stile yuri ben caratterizzata e discretamente "avvincente". Dall'altro, però, dobbiamo scontrarci contro una realizzazione tecnica sin troppo limitata e superficiale (se si eccettuano le curve esplosive delle protagoniste) funestata, inoltre, da un tasso di difficoltà inesistente che porta velocemente il giocatore ai titoli di coda. L'ultima fatica di Gust, insomma, può essere promossa solo a metà.
