I've attempted to stick to reviewing Pokkén Tournament DX on its own merits and not compare it too much with its predecessor. Of course this is the definitive version and superior choice. Fans of Pokémon will have a good time checking out the title. If there is any future content coming or major league gaming events, then it will have a bright future. Regardless, its entertaining gameplay should appeal to Switch owners and earn it a deserved fanbase.

Sin grandes esfuerzos, Bandai Namco construye un título con más contenidos, principalmente gracias a la inclusión de 5 luchadores y nuevas modalidades (entre las que destacan los combates por equipos y retos diarios). Otros aspectos como la pantalla partida o el aprovechamiento de las características de Switch -multijugador local inalámbrico- ayudan a entender por qué Pokkén Tournament DX es una buena opción para aquellos que no hubiesen probado el juego original.

Pokkén è un gioco atipico, divertente e adatto a varie tipologie di giocatori. Pur non raggiungendo i tecnicismi dei picchiaduro classici, il suo sistema di combattimento è stato studiato per garantire una buona dose di profondità ai picchiatori più esperti, senza però sacrificare l’accessibilità per gli utenti più giovani. Nonostante i problemi legati allo splitscreen, la versione per Switch migliora quanto già visto su Wii U e si affianca ad Arms come valida alternativa al brawler Nintendo.

Lo mejor de Pokkén Tournament es su accesibilidad y la rapidez y espectacularidad de los combates. La campaña es un mal necesario para desbloquear a todos los luchadores y pokémon de apoyo y hacer frente al online con todas las armas del arsenal. En el lado de los defectos habría que mencionar que dieciséis luchadores nos han sabido a demasiado poco y a que el sistema de combos es demasiado devastador: con dos encajados nuestra barra de vida será sólo una mancha roja en la pantalla.

Pokkén Tournament DX is a bit odd, because although I can’t help but sing its praises, not much here is new, and I don’t actually know who was asking for a resurgence. Still though, the Pokémon fighter is loads of fun and still looks like a great spectacle in motion - the supers just look fantastic. But if you’re looking to play this by yourself, you’re likely to be very disappointed.

Se Nintendo avesse proposto Pokkén Tournament DX a un prezzo budget o comunque a qualcosa di meno del costo standard di un nuovo gioco per Switch, allora avremmo anche potuto promuovere a pieni voti questa conversione. Non riteniamo che i pochi contenuti aggiuntivi possano incentivare al riacquisto chi ha già giocato Pokkén Tournament due anni fa, a meno che non l'abbia amato alla follia. Se non rientrate in questa categoria, vi piacciono i Pokémon e sentite il bisogno impellente di un picchiaduro la situazione cambia, ma sarebbe stato lecito aspettarsi qualcosa di più.

Complet mais léger, Pokkén Tournament DX propose un jeu plus complet qu’auparavant, mais ne propose malheureusement pas de véritables nouveautés en terme de gameplay, qui ferait revenir les anciens joueurs du jeu. Pourtant, Nintendo a voulu bien faire en proposant 5 nouveaux personnages, un nouveau mode défi ainsi qu’un mode de combat en équipe. Un jeu davantage pour les amateurs de la série que pour les fans du genre.

Pokkén Tournament DX may only provide a few benefits for returning fans, but the improved local multiplayer and expanded roster may be enough to draw back the old crowd. Overly simple AI and easy Challenges make the game’s single-player mode a breeze, but new players may find that simply playing with their favorite Pokémon is enough to enjoy the fight.

Triste déception que ce Pokkén Tournament. Alors qu'il aurait pu être un jeu divertissant et complet, rendant un bel hommage à la licence Pokémon, il se révèle être un jeu de combat trop simpliste et vide de contenu. Avec un roster de seulement 14 Pokémon, alors que l'on en compte aujourd'hui plus de 700, les équipes de Bandai Namco ont fait le minimum syndical. Ce qui se ressent également au niveau des graphismes, d'une autre époque, où des modes de jeu proposés, dont on aura vite fait le tour. Ces défauts, on les accepterait sans peine au format initial, soit de courtes parties à 200 yen. Mais pour un titre console, vendu plein pot, c'est encore autre chose. Dommage, car le jeu repose sur de bonnes idées qui hélas n'ont pas été complètement exploitées. Reste un titre facile à prendre en mains, au online fonctionnel, et très didactique, donc adapté aux plus jeunes.
