A la fois complet, addictif et dépourvu d'achats intégrés, Assassin's Creed : Pirates présente tout ce qu'on aime voir sur smartphones. Les fans de la série et notamment de Black Flag devraient également y trouver leur bonheur grâce à la présence d'un scénario discret, mais qui a le mérite d'exister, et de la sensation de liberté qui a fait la force d'AC4. Alors certes, la stabilité n'est pas optimale, la difficulté est trop faible et une certaine répétitivité peut se faire ressentir à la longue, mais l'expérience n'en reste pas moins sympathique.

La popular saga de acción de Ubisoft aterriza en iOS y Android nuevamente con un título que pretende transportarnos a la era de los piratas, y con acierto. La mecánica de juego está bien planteada para funcionar correctamente en este tipo de dispositivos, técnicamente está resuelto con tino y además goza de una profundidad y extensión más pronunciadas de lo que suele ser habitual en este tipo de títulos. Un juego muy notable que seguro sabrán apreciar los seguidores de esta gran franquicia.

Le cannonate di Assassin's Creed Pirates non vanno completamente a vuoto. Il titolo Ubisoft riesce anzi a meravigliare a più riprese, presentandosi sul mercato mobile con ottimi spunti. La navigazione libera, il sistema di sviluppo del proprio vascello, le atmosfere e persino le missioni meno concentrate sul combattimento riescono a tenere in piedi la produzione, delineando il profilo di un prodotto persino originale, se collocato nel contesto del mercato di riferimento. Peccato che poi gli scontri navali siano ripetitivi e noiosi, uguali dall'inizio alla fine dell'avventura, e sfortunatamente strutturati come se fossimo di fronte ad un “Infinity Blade coi galeoni”. Una discreta partenza per Ubisoft, che potrebbe ottenere risultati molto migliori con un futuro capitolo: basterà scrollarsi di dosso le assurde mode del mobile gaming moderno, e provare a percorrere nuove vie, liberi come un pirata.

Assassin's Creed Pirates non è purtroppo un titolo destinato a rimanere nella memoria degli aspiranti bucanieri, ma almeno prova a fornire qualcosa di nuovo ai fan della serie Ubisoft e a tutti gli amanti dei giochi a tema piratesco. La trama banalotta (e mal raccontata) è un pretesto per farci timonare la nostra flotta nel mar dei Caraibi, scoprire tesori nascosti e affrontare le navi nemiche. L'ottimo motore grafico riesce a dare vita ad una ricostruzione credibile dell'età d'oro della pirateria, peccato che questa non sia supportata da un sistema di combattimento navale abbastanza vario (o tecnico) da tenere il giocatore ancorato al tablet, ed è un peccato, perché le potenzialità c'erano tutte.

The nautical elements of AC III and Black Flag are arguably the strongest facets of those games, and those themes are rife for exploration in a standalone title. While Assassin's Creed Pirates manages to capture a bit of that sea-faring magic, it never quite delivers the pirate experience I wanted. Unless you're willing to grind through an endless wave of banal ship battles, you're better off sticking to its bigger, better, and much less frustrating console and PC brethren.
