We can forgive a game for being too ambitious for its own good, trying something bold, and possibly falling short. The trouble with Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is that it tries to deliver something we’ve seen before and still manages to fail at it. Even if you stripped out every technical issue, improved the camera, and polished up the visuals, you would still be left with a painfully average gaming experience. Sky Oceans doesn’t even crash and burn – it fails to leave the runway.

Remettre au goût du jour une légende du point and click aurait pu inciter son développeur à se reposer sur les qualités d’origine du titre et laisser opérer la magie. Il n’en est rien pour Les Chevaliers de Baphomet - L'ombre des templiers Reforged. Cette aventure merveilleuse profite ici d’un formidable travail de refonte graphique qui fait honneur aux qualités du matériau d’origine. A ce stade il aurait suffi de dépoussiérer aussi les doublages pour offrir au monde un remake absolument parfait. On va tout de même se contenter de cette quasi-perfection et exhorter les joueurs non-allergiques au genre à (re)découvrir ce point and click enchanteur.

The reimagined Silent Hill 2 is an experience that truly understands and honors the original game. It deconstructs and rebuilds the experience from the ground up, creating something that feels familiar yet also like a whole new game. It takes inspiration from the classic 2001 original and incorporates the many advancements made since its release. Influences from games like Condemned, RE, Dead Space, The Evil Within, Alan Wake 2, and even later Silent Hill games are collected and honed to make something very fresh and extremely polished. It may not be pushing the genre forward, but Silent Hill 2 (2024) feels like the peak of what the current horror remake movement of the last five years can accomplish. It’s an experience I confidently recommend to anyone looking for a shining example of what the horror genre has to offer.

Silent Hill 2 Rifare Silent Hill 2 sembrava un compito ingrato ed impossibile, e immaginiamo che non sia stato affatto facile, ma Bloober Team ce l'ha fatta a modernizzare un classico del genere senza stravolgere, anzi, facendolo brillare di luce propria, ciò che lo rendeva così speciale e amato dai fan. Il combattimento - seppur un pochino "pesante" e non sempre immediato - funziona alla grande, il plot narrativo già eccellente è stato ampliato e risulta essere ancora più straziante ed emotivo, i puzzle ambientali sono gratificanti e non diventano mai ridondanti o frustranti, il tutto sorretto da un'atmosfera orrifica, claustrofobica, terrificante e incredibilmente immersiva, impreziosito ulteriormente da un doppiaggio fenomenale e da una veste grafica straordinariamente realistica. Vi spaventerete e avrete la pelle d'oca, ve lo garantiamo, ma ne vorrete sempre di più (anche se il backtracking talvolta è un po' frustrante e noioso) fino ad arrivare ai titoli di coda di questo capolavoro psicologico inquietante e profondo, senza alcuna ombra di dubbio, fra i migliori dell'ultimo decennio. Grazie Bloober Team per aver riportato fra noi questo classico del 2001! Bloober necesitaba mantener y adaptar todo lo que hacía genial al juego de 2001: su atmósfera, personajes, historia... Han hecho todo eso y han añadido sus propios ingredientes para presentarnos una experiencia completa, emotiva y apasionante. No es perfecto en lo técnico, pero Silent Hill 2 tiene todo lo necesario para destacar en la niebla.

Silent Hill 2 is a welcome modernisation of a survival horror masterpiece. It smoothly polishes down the rough edges of the original game’s combat while taking a piece of heavy grit sandpaper to scuff up every rust and mold-covered surface of its nightmarish environments, successfully making them appear far more abrasive and menacing to explore. Previously primitive boss battles have been transformed into substantially more intense encounters, and its intimidating audio design kept me acutely aware that every fog-cloaked street I walked down could quickly hurry me towards my own dead end. It does feel a little padded out in parts, and I do wish that Bloober Team had streamlined some of its more convoluted puzzle sections to prevent the story’s momentum from sagging on occasion. Still, intermittent pacing problems aside, Silent Hill 2 is a great way to visit – or revisit – one of the most dread-inducing destinations in the history of survival horror.

Silent Hill 2 Remake consigue trasladar con éxito el clásico de Konami a la actual generación. Un regreso fiel, aderezado con los cambios que hacían falta para disfrutar la experiencia en los estándares jugables actuales. Una excusa perfecta para volver a vivir la historia de James y un regalo fantástico para todos los que la experimentéis por primera vez.

Avec Silent Hill 2, Bloober Team a enfin trouvé le terreau narratif et la formule qui lui convient. C'est un vrai plaisir que d’arpenter à nouveau ces rues à la fois identiques et différentes, de retrouver Mary... Chef-d'œuvre.
