Arizona Sunshine 2 è esattamente quello che ci si aspettava, il classico sequel "bigger and better" che migliora ed espande quanto c'era di buono nel titolo precedente. Tra le novità abbiamo apprezzato l'introduzione di Buddy, un'ottima aggiunta che arricchisce il gameplay e il coinvolgimento del giocatore, senza dimenticare il nuovo approccio fisico ai combattimenti che valorizza le caratteristiche della realtà virtuale. Non possiamo dire lo stesso per il sistema di crafting, che si è rivelato invece poco influente nell'economia dell'esperienza. Al netto di qualche sbavatura tecnica e di una scarsa varietà dei nemici, il nuovo shooter di Vertigo Games funziona molto bene e riesce ad offrire una campagna degna di nota, presentandosi come uno dei prodotti a tema zombie più validi del catalogo VR.

Ne paniquez pas : la note a (littéralement) été attribuée sur un jet de dés, et Baldur's Gate III ne l'a pas totalement volée. Nous faisant passer par toutes les émotions, le jeu est dans un sens fascinant. D'un côté, l'immersion est à son sommet en matière de production, d'écriture et d'interactivité. Néanmoins, le titre oublie parfois les fondamentaux et fait le choix de l'élitisme en se rendant diablement austère. Autant être clair : dans l'industrie du jeu vidéo en 2023, cela ressemble à une régression et à un acte manqué. Parce que même en passant outre des choix de game design parfois discutables, il est difficile de fermer les yeux sur tous les soucis d'interface et d'ergonomie. Les boomers défendant le bastion du PC trouveront probablement en Baldur's Gate III un porte-étendard et un nouveau cheval de bataille mais, ici, nous aimons penser que l'on peut faire des expériences profondes, démesurées et accessibles. Baldur's Gate III reste néanmoins un très grand jeu-monstre, difforme, gargantuesque, destiné à une élite, mais livrant un discours malin sur l'identification ainsi que son lot de moments mémorables. Un terrible mélange d'amour et de haine, en somme... Mais avec une autre philosophie et quelques autres choix, il aurait assurément pu prétendre au fameux titre de jeu de l'année. On attendra d'éventuelles améliorations pour relancer les dés.

The Finals does a great job standing out from the competitive shooter crowd thanks to its fast-paced action, excellent environmental destruction, and gameshow-meets-squad shooter vibes. The way flying through the battlefield with a grappling hook or hulk-smashing through buildings mixes with its strict, objective-based modes is a breath of fresh air. It’s a concern that there are only two of those modes total right now, and it definitely feels like both in-game balance and the overall reward economy need some adjustments. But those are small critiques relative to the outrageous fun and breathtaking spectacle of buildings crumbling around you.

Embark Studios debutta con uno sparatutto competitivo come non se ne vedevano da tempo. Bello graficamente, esaltante per le orecchie e irresistibile nella sfida che propone, The Finals appare però ancora un po' acerbo. Se fosse una strada, ci sarebbe insomma un bel cartello "lavori in corso". Ciò non toglie che era da anni che non provavamo simili emozioni a duellare sui server di un videogioco, ed erano anni che non vedevamo un gameplay così simile ai migliori Battlefield della nostra vita. Da provare assolutamente, a patto di essere in tre e di avere un Pc, un Xbox o una PlayStation 5.

Even in such a banner year for RPGs, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader stands out as one I wouldn't want to have missed. Excellent writing, great combat, and the chance to get up close and personal with some of the most interesting and exciting elements of the 40K universe makes for a stimulating gore-feast of a journey. Its systems are a complicated beast to master and the bugs are numerous and significant, but it speaks to the quality of everything surrounding them that they didn't sour the experience for me more than they did. Owlcat has taken a proud step forward as an RPG developer to keep an augmentic eye on. Count this one among the Imperium's finest.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ha il grande merito di catapultarci nel mondo creato da James Cameron, raccontandoci una storia canonica che si svolge in una zona inedita di Pandora ma che possiamo percepire come autentica grazie alla cura e all'attenzione che Massive Entertainment ha profuso nella sua realizzazione. Si tratta però dell'unico aspetto davvero eccellente all'interno di una produzione che prometteva meraviglie (quadrupla A?) e che invece dimostra ben presto di non avere grandissime idee.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is a serviceable open world game elevated by a stunning presentation. While the visuals will utterly wow you, it's a shame it doesn't introduce more original ideas.
