Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus è un gioco che non nasconde le sue evidenti ispirazioni ma, pur così facendo, si regge su un equilibrio precario. L'eccessiva enfasi sul pogo e in generale sullo stare a mezz'aria porta a una ripetitività di fondo sia nell'esplorazione sia soprattutto nel combattimento, con boss che richiedono bene o male lo stesso approccio e il cui livello di salute non aiuta ad alleggerire il tedio di scontri trascinati troppo a lungo. Nel complesso è senza dubbio un metroidvania godibile, nonché un buon punto di partenza per il team, ma una maggior varietà di approccio e utilizzo dei poteri a disposizione l'avrebbe reso senza dubbio più piacevole e meno prono a momenti di inutile frustrazione.

I find myself thinking a lot about that guy I overheard who is buying a $500 console just to play College Football 25. I wonder if he, as someone who doesn’t play a lot of video games, is having fun – because despite the NCAA’s wider appeal, it feels like anyone who doesn’t already know how to play EA’s football games is likely to have a bad time. If you know and love college football and just want to pop into Dynasty, build up your favorite school, and play some football that looks good and handles well, College Football 25 is the game you’re looking for. If you’re expecting a great off-the-field experience at your program of choice, however, you’re going to be disappointed. Sure, maybe EA will fix the UI issues, add a proper tutorial, and flesh out the modes a bit more in next year’s iteration; we tell ourselves that a lot in sports (and sports games) to comfort us when we’re let down. “We’ll get ‘em next year.” But promises of tomorrow aren’t certain, and they’re not what you’re buying when you get College Football 25. It isn’t a bad game, and it certainly gets the on-field action right, but it’s not a great one, either. Like any good-but-not-great football team, there’s a solid foundation here; you just hope it can reach its full potential somewhere down the line. We’ll get ‘em next year, right?

Thank Goodness You're Here is the new high watermark for a comedy game. Constantly hilarious, inventive and creative, it's a complete joy. A brisk 3 hour jaunt through the fictional north of England, Thank Goodness You're Here sets out its ambitions from the beginning, and confidently exceeds them.

Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley is a short yet refreshing adventure game whose whimsical world and cast of characters make for a cozy evening gaming session. While the gameplay is simplistic and doesn’t leave much room for deep thought, its strength lies in its ability to allow the player to stop and smell the virtual flowers, taking in the beauty of nature.

While Nobody Wants to Die is not a long game, that short length has allowed the developers to pack in a solid detective story and a beautifully designed world with surprisingly deep lore. The investigation mechanics aren’t the best, but don’t let that put you off this slick, quick love letter to old-school detective films.

Crow Country riesce a unire il meglio della new wave di videogiochi horror ispirati ai titoli dell'epoca PlayStation con delle scelte molto moderne e un flow da sogno, che per circa sei ore sa trascinare il giocatore in un'avventura suggestiva. Si rifà ai classici del genere, e prende qualche ispirazione dal cinema, per presentare un titolo che ha ben pochi difetti. Dopo Signalis, un altro horror indie che è destinato a diventare un piccolo cult per il perfetto mix che è riuscito a mettere insieme.

La conversione per Nintendo Switch non rende pienamente giustizia a ONE PIECE ODYSSEY, che lo scorso anno aveva conquistato pubblico e critica (seppur con qualche riserva). La decisione di Bandai Namco Entertainment di commercializzare direttamente la Deluxe Edition del prodotto, che a questo giro include quindi tutti i DLC precedentemente venduti a parte, non compensa affatto i seri compromessi tecnici cui il team di ILCA è dovuto scendere pur di far girare il titolo sulla macchina ibrida della Casa di Kyoto. Tra tempi di caricamento interminabili e una resa visiva assai carente, nemmeno la possibilità di fruirne in portabilità potrebbe spingervi a preferire questa versione alle precedenti. Recuperatelo su Switch solo se impossibilitati a giocarlo altrove.

Nobody Wants to Die est une expérience fort appréciable, de surcroît pour un premier jeu. Le studio souhaitait parvenir à livrer une œuvre immersive et bien écrite, le pari est réussi. Sans jouer dans l’originalité, les références sont trop explicites pour cela, le soft attire par son magnifique univers rétro-futuriste, avant de nous agripper avec un duo de personnages finement écrit et interprété. Les quelques séquences de gameplay ont le mérite d’être plaisantes, notamment les phases d’enquête profitant de la mécanique du bracelet temporel vraiment stylée, à défaut de réellement nous impliquer de par leur facilité. Cependant, difficile d’ignorer les défauts sur la narration et la mise en scène, l’intrigue qui va trop vite, ainsi que des thématiques qui méritaient meilleur traitement. Un jeu qui devrait plaire aux amoureux de films noir et de dystopie cyberpunk malgré tout.

There’s some fun to be had with Parkitect: Deluxe Edition, but the glaring issues and dodgy controls make this one tough to recommend. Stick to the brilliant PC version instead.

Earth Defense Force 6 is a pretty basic game, but what it lacks in complexity, it makes up for in silly fun. Blowing up hordes and buildings with your buddy, using these wildly unbalanced weapons, all while losing our minds anytime the game tries to do cool things in the story, it all makes for an excellent experience in co-op. So really we feel we can only recommend this if you have someone to play with. You’re going to be buying a game that is extremely unpolished but will give you literal hours of laughing together with a friend and that’s worth every penny to be honest. Try EDF6 with a friend if you think this would be appealing to you. Just maybe try playing on PlayStation 4 or 5 instead for the smoother experience.

Nobody Wants to Die’s relatively brief story isn’t a completely original concept, but it has a cool mix of inspirations and unique worldbuilding touches that all work well together to create something new and engaging. There’s a bit too much hand-holding for a game about the art of investigation, but its conversation system picks up the slack with humor, unexpected outcomes, and a surprisingly deep story about how impactful your past can be on your present — even when you’re facing immortality.
