Se siete degli appassionati di Formula 1 o se semplicemente volete provare l'esperienza di questo sport in un videogioco, F1 24 è indubbiamente la scelta più azzeccata con tanti contenuti e attività da fare. Di fatto però non si tratta di una vera e propria scelta, perché la concorrenza non c'è, essendo Codemasters l'unica a possedere la licenza ufficiale di questo sport. Siamo consapevoli che un gioco con cadenza annuale non può stravolgere la formula o arricchirla vertiginosamente come in tanti sperano. Quest'anno però gli sviluppatori hanno introdotto esclusivamente novità marginali, andando a ritoccare poche piste così come altri aspetti meno rilevanti del videogioco e forzando l'inserimento di nuovi elementi che aggiungono poco valore nella già ricca Modalità Carriera. Inoltre, hanno anche intrapreso una strada piuttosto incomprensibile per quanto riguarda il "miglioramento" del modello di guida e del motore fisico. Le premesse sotto questo punto di vista sembravano veramente entusiasmanti, ma alla fine dei conti ci siamo ritrovati con il medesimo feeling alla guida con diverse perplessità ed una sensazione di costante mancato realismo e simulazione. A noi risulta chiaro che la direzione intrapresa quest'anno non sia quella corretta. Speriamo che in futuro questo scivolone possa servire da lezione, anche per cambiare un modello di distribuzione ormai obsoleto, perché pagare il prezzo pieno ogni anno per vedere così pochi cambiamenti non ha veramente senso.

Si te gustan las aventuras con una fuerte carga narrativa, y que traten temas reales, aun con tintes fantásticos, A Space for the Unbound tiene muchas papeletas de encantarte. Y además lo tiene casi todo: gráficos, sonido, buen diseño, personajes, guión... Quizá tenga algunos altibajos en su desarrollo, pero si picas el anzuelo, no podrás dejarlo.

Where most Mario games will leave a smiling impression between bouts of frustration, this Paper Mario entry wants you to be laughing out loud as well. I’m just worried that the humour might not carry everyone to the finish line in light of repetition, laborious backtracking and uninteresting combat. But there’s no denying that this remake is polished to the smoothest presentable sheen, leaving a first impression I still love, even though it burned me out long before the credits.

Incluso 8 años después, este juego sigue siendo uno de los mejores de la franquicia y tiene montones de sorpresas por descubrir. Eso sí, hubiéramos agradecido que aprovecharan el salto generacional para aportar novedades técnicas de peso.

It is a masterclass in vibes, the kind of immersive experience games with a small country’s worth of budgets can only ever try to clumsily emulate. That is of course if you’re open to what POOLS is trying to do, no doubt some will find its lack of explicit systems or goals frustrating or outright boring. Fortunately, I’m a sicko and this kind of slow-burn, ambient horror is exactly what I want from interactive experiences. As I began to piece together my understanding of events in the game through stray imagery and implications, jumping at shadows and straining my ears for an attack that never came, I realised I had drowned somewhere along the way in POOLS.

Despite varied factions and excellent maps, XDefiant’s shootouts are let down by a lack of identity and sluggish weapon progression. Outside an emphasis on making skill-based matchmaking optional, the game plays like every shooter from the last decade, leaning into nostalgia over attempting a breakthrough. While technical pitfalls can be resolved with seasonal updates, XDefiant needs novelty to sustain a player base.
