Il y a de quoi être mitigé lorsque l’on souhaite résumer ce qu’apporte Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1. D’un côté, on accueille avec bonheur la nécessité de ne posséder qu’une seule console afin de jouer aux épisodes mémorables d’une licence culte, de quoi plaire aux fans ainsi qu’aux néophytes. De l’autre, on regrette la manière dont ces titres et le contenu bonus sont intégrés dans cette compilation, et ce à plus forte raison sur Switch. Fruit d’un portage techniquement cantonné au strict minimum, sans apport au niveau de l’accessibilité, ce premier volume semble déjà donner le ton des autres à venir. Inutile de faire comme si c’était une mauvaise surprise, mais un tel constat reste un brin frustrant. À défaut d’être revitalisée, la licence est dépoussiérée, et c’est ni plus ni moins que ce que désirait Konami avec ce Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.1.

And so it is something of a bittersweet experience to play the Master Collection. Its comprehensive preservation of Metal Gear reaches deeply into the franchise’s release history and collates decades of value into a well-crafted and thoughtful collection. Appropriately modernised presentation bundles these games into a cohesive package, the individual titles putting their best foot forward thanks to the foundational work of Bluepoint Games and the renewed sense of duty Konami has found to one of its flagship franchises. There’s an ideal world in which this collection would have been all inclusive, perhaps a better value-for-money proposition and one that truly honoured, and grappled with, the legacy of Kojima. But for now, I’m just glad to not be in a world without Snakes.

The Lord of the Rings. Return to Moria è, in primo luogo, una splendida occasione mancata. Il survival di Free Range Games, sotto la superficie dei suoi difetti, nasconde un'anima ben definita, che si può osservare riflessa nell'oro e nelle gemme che occupano il ventre di Moria, ricostruita qui in modo fantastico, anche grazie a delle atmosfere che i fan delle opere di Tolkien non potranno che apprezzare. Se siete quindi degli appassionati di survival e de Il Signore degli Anelli, vi consigliamo comunque di mettervi nei panni di un nano e di vivere l'esperienza confezionata dallo studio californiano, consapevoli che al momento il gioco è molto lontano dagli standard moderni delle esperienze survival e per questo potrebbe farsi difficilmente apprezzare dai cultori del genere.

Avec Ghostrunner 2, le studio One More Level opère un virage action-aventure qui n’est pas sans heurts. En misant sur des zones plus grandes et pas toujours très précises, on perd un peu ce qui faisait le charme du premier volet… Ici, “die and retry” est plus souvent synonyme de frustration, ce qui aboutit à une expérience moins addictive ! L’aventure est ainsi jalonnée de tentatives (plus ou moins réussies) d’étoffer l’expérience - avec quelques passages qui sortent du lot, notamment dans la seconde partie. On se retrouve donc avec une expérience plaisante, portée par un gameplay toujours efficace, mais qui s’égare un peu trop souvent.

È difficile consigliare Crymachina agli appassionati dei videogiochi d’azione, anche se per qualcuno le parti dialogiche, forti di una sceneggiatura tutto sommato ben scritta e di qualche idea interessante, potrebbero valere il prezzo del biglietto; il gioco stesso, d'altro canto, sembra assegnare loro maggiore priorità rispetto al resto. Insomma: Crymachina difficilmente passerà alla storia come un hack’n’slash interessante, ma le sue qualità artistiche e narrative gli permettono quantomeno di non affondare.

Crymachina migliora la formula tipica a portfolio del produttore, offrendo un'avventura action dai tratti noti, senza stravolgere nulla di assodato. Sicuramente il punto di forza è l'ambientazione, la storia e l'atmosfera generale che si respira, grazie a una scrittura interessante, una narrazione che, quando non si perde nei milioni di dialoghi tra ragazze, sa anche dire la propria. Il sistema di combattimento fa sicuramente un passo in avanti verso la modernità, ma c'è ancora tanto lavoro da fare, soprattutto sul fronte della resa e del divertimento nel medio termine. Crymachina parla ai fan di questa precisa nicchia di prodotti e probabilmente solo a loro.

Cities: Skylines 2 is not the best game in the lineage of Will Wright's original 1989 classic. The champion is still the original Cities: Skylines, at least for now. If Skylines 2 gets the same incredible post-launch support and additional paid and free content as its predecessor, and if the modding community is allowed to thrive, I think this sequel might come out ahead in the long run. There are so many enjoyable new systems and exciting additions, sadly encased in an awful-looking block of concrete that gets in the way of how much I know I could be loving them. It makes too many promises of realism that its most basic features like zoning can't deliver on. It feels like playing a beta, or a very early Early Access game. Frankly, Skylines 2 could have used another few months in the city planning office. For now, it's more of a fixer-upper.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volumen 1 es una edición que solo está cuidada por fuera. Eso significa que se ha recopilado todo el material disponible de cada uno de los juegos, añadiendo muchos extras que, aunque suene a tópico, realmente harán las delicias de los aficionados. Pero los juegos en cuestión pedían un retoque tanto gráfico en algunos aspectos como de calidad de vida en otros y Konami aquí no se ha mojado ni un poco, sin tocar apenas los juegos. Creo que la saga merecía más y también que las nuevas generaciones se habrían sentido más atraídas hacia estos clásicos del videojuego si se hubieran añadido mejoras técnicas y de calidad de vida. A buen seguro el fan querrá hacerse con esta reedición, pero había mucho que se podía refinar en ella.
