It may take place at the bottom of the ocean on a distant alien planet, but Harold Halibut’s story is an entirely human one, both in terms of its carefully handmade environments and its strong emphasis on empathy towards its eccentric cast of characters. While I wish that there was a little more interactivity to be found throughout its subaquatic setting, and Harold’s shuffling run could have been boosted to a sprint to reduce the time spent repeatedly schlepping from one end of its levels to the other, I nonetheless remained captivated by his whimsical quest to unite his community and explore the spectacular surroundings of his sunken home. Consistently funny and full of surprises, Harold Halibut is a wholesome, handcrafted adventure with plenty of heart.

Transcending the line between video game and interactive art piece, Harold Halibut explores the meaning of home on an isolated alien water world. While some pacing issues exist within the larger story, the handcrafted visuals that consistently charm alongside an extravagant cast make this a treat for fans of narrative adventures.

Con uno sviluppo durato ben dodici anni, risulta legittimo chiedersi se Harold Halibut sia un'operazione riuscita appieno: ciò che possiamo dirvi è che l'opera dello studio tedesco ci ha convinti, grazie ad una narrazione matura e coinvolgente in grado di affrontare temi tutt'altro che scontati. La speranza è che il lancio su Game Pass possa dare la giusta spinta a quello che è pur sempre un titolo di nicchia, e chissà che Slow Bros. non si ritrovi fra le mani una piccola gemma destinata a lasciare il segno. In un mercato come quello dei videogiochi, c'è bisogno più che mai di opere come Harold Halibut.

Harold Halibut fa dello stile artistico il suo cavallo di battaglia affiancandolo però ad una buona storia, con personaggi che non risultano scontati. Al contrario, il lato gameplay e la fluidità generale dell'esperienza non risultano immacolati

Pepper Grinder è uno di quei titoli che ti piace molto mentre lo stai giocando: ti stai divertendo, stai trovando modo e voglia di fare anche ottimi numeri nelle prove a tempo e ti muovi a ritmo con la sua ottima colonna sonora. Poi ad un certo punto la musica cambia, i livello perdono la verve iniziale e culminano con una boss battle decisamente scadente. Il problema? Che sono passate appena due ore scarse, e questo è un vero peccato.

Gli amanti dello splatter adoreranno The Kinderman Remedy, un gestionale capace di spruzzare sangue e cattiveria da tutti i pori. Il solido e divertente gameplay dell’opera di Troglobytes Games accompagneranno i giocatori nel riscattare il “buon nome” del dottore protagonista del gioco, oltre a metterli alla prova con scelte morali discutibili. Una ripetitività di fondo e un comparto grafico abbastanza semplicistico non bastano a mettere a repentaglio quanto offerto dal team italiano. Un’offerta per sadici e amanti di violenza e torture, ma pur sempre una buona offerta.

Ereban: Shadow Legacy è uno stealth game solido, molto tradizionale e molto derivativo. Un'esperienza piacevole per gli appassionati di questo sottogenere, lunga il giusto e discretamente ben bilanciata nei suoi aspetti chiave: il design degli scenari, la capacità dei nemici di rilevarci ed eventualmente di dimenticarsi di noi, la gestione dei checkpoint e un sistema di potenziamento che però si finisce solo per sfiorare nel corso di una campagna che scorre via senza particolari acuti.

While the user interface takes some getting used to, and the script could have used a little more polish, the story and investigative gameplay of Between Horizons are highly entertaining. I really enjoyed playing as Stella, molding both her character and the story’s ultimate outcome with my dialogue choices and efficiency as the Zephyr’s chief of security. I loved roaming around the spaceship looking for clues and talking to other characters, each with their own unique personality and background, with not one but ten different mysteries to investigate. And there’s a great amount of detailed worldbuilding, both visually and narratively found in this game. It’s a shame that trying for a different outcome demands another complete playthrough, but I was very satisfied with the ending I got, despite only finding the right solution for eight out of ten cases. Even if you’re like me and generally have no real affinity for science fiction, this intriguing detective/sci-fi story aims for the stars, and as far as I’m concerned it’s mission successful!

reedom Planet 2 takes everything great about the first game, adds a bit of polish and some extra mechanics, and gives us an absolute beast of a game. I cannot praise it enough, it’s just brilliant fun!
