Il faut parvenir à surmonter un paquet de défauts, d’oublis, et une ergonomie catastrophique pour passer un bon moment sur Romancing SaGa – Minstrel Song – Remastered. Le jeu n’est pas mauvais, loin de là, il jouit d’idées intéressantes et offre une sensation de liberté grisante, au moins pendant un temps. Mais pas facile de s’investir dans cette aventure entièrement en anglais, dont le visuel daté manque de charme, les musiques tournent en rond, et dont les combats, pourtant profonds, se révèlent soporifiques. À l’image de toute la série, cet épisode parlera à bien peu de monde, et ne peut pas décemment être considéré comme une porte d’entrée accessible pour les néophytes.

McPixel 3 has opened my eyes to the series and has made me want to look at the previous games as it is such a joy to play. With games these days taking hours to get into and days to complete it’s nice to have a pickup-and-play game like this which is great to relax and enjoy an amusing experience. If you like playing quick games and have a childish or crude sense of humour then you will have a lot of fun with this game.

Le créateur de Rick and Morty ne pouvait pas pondre un jeu vidéo comme les autres. Reposant sur un humour doux amer, High On Life n’est pas à montrer à tous. Cela tombe bien, il n’a pas la prétention d’être universel. Apprécier ce FPS coloré, c’est d’abord se coltiner une tonne de dialogues tous plus invraisemblables les uns que les autres. Rien n’est vraiment pertinent dans High On Life, sauf le sentiment de vivre un trip sous acide. On peut donc décider de détester High On Life et son absurdité assumée. Ou louer une fois encore le talent de Justin Roiland, qui offre ici un terrain de jeu digne d’une cour de récréation pour adultes. Bonne nouvelle : il y a quand même un vrai jeu vidéo derrière, c’est-à-dire pourvu d’un gameplay suffisamment travaillé qui évite que High On Life ne vive que par ses gags potaches.

High On Life si propone come uno sparatutto in soggettiva vecchio stampo, pieno di humor nero e volgarità senza censure, e con uno stile che solo il creatore di Rick and Morty sarebbe stato in grado di aggiungere. Ergo, i puristi del genere degli shooter in soggettiva, cresciuti a pane e BioShock, probabilmente storceranno il naso e non troveranno sufficienti motivazioni per non stargli alla larga. Tutti gli altri possono invece trovarsi a tu per tu con uno dei giochi più folli e irriverenti del 2022.

Chained Echoes è una delle più belle sorprese del 2022: un GDR equilibrato, ricco e appassionante da cui molti sviluppatori tripla A dovrebbero prendere esempio. Allo stesso tempo, non è un titolo perfetto, e ci sono delle piccole spigolosità che tradiscono l'esperienza di Linda - e forse anche la sua grandissima passione per il genere - ma se il buongiorno si vede dal mattino, non vediamo l'ora di scoprire cosa s'inventerà in futuro. Basta che non si debbano aspettare altri sette anni.

Sable Sable, come dicevamo, ci ha sorpreso. La sua atmosfera onirica, a tratti autoriale, ci ha stregato e la sapiente amalgama nei vari elementi di gioco ci ha, ironicamente, intrappolati in quella che è un'esperienza totalmente libera e personalizzabile. Sable rigetta tutti gli stilemi, troppo inflazionati, dei titoli più "open" del momento, quali segnalini e indicazioni varie ogni 3x2, con grande maestria. Il mercato indie si riconferma ancora una volta fornace di perle indiscusse. Per fortuna che sempre più creativi decidono di indossare questa maschera coraggiosa. Unavowed is easily one of the best adventure games ever made. The story and characters are fantastic, the visuals immaculate, and the puzzles unique and inventive. Wadjeteye games are always good, but they’ve set the bar pretty high with this adventure.

Il nuovo gioco di Squanch Games è un prodotto che si muove tra alti e bassi, un andamento oscillatorio che riguarda in particolar modo un comparto ludico con asperità evidenti. Sebbene anche sul fronte narrativo non tutto funzioni alla perfezione, il carattere esuberante della scrittura dà spesso vita a situazioni tanto folli quanto esilaranti, che non mancano di impreziosire il titolo di Roiland con le sfumature tipiche della sua opera più celebre, aumentando di netto il valore complessivo dell’esperienza. Proprio l’estro indomabile del team di sviluppo, che brilla anche sul versante estetico, rende High on Life una produzione meritevole delle attenzioni del pubblico, specialmente di quell’ampia platea di giocatori che riconosce in Rick e Morty una delle serie animate più brillanti degli ultimi anni.

High On Life è uno sparatutto imperfetto, una gemma grezza che non brilla certo per il design del suo gameplay, ma che invece si rivela straordinariamente prezioso per la sua capacità di far sorridere genuinamente il giocatore dall'inizio alla fine dell'avventura, una cosa che ormai capita di rado nei videogiochi. Certo, i problemi ci sono e Squanch Games dovrà saper imparare dagli errori commessi ora che è arrivata a vedersela coi grandi, ma che splendido futuro aspetta i fan di Justin Roiland. Alla prima produzione realmente importante lo studio è riuscito a catturare la curiosità di tantissimi giocatori, e adesso ha tutto il tempo per crescere ed evolvere in direzione di un secondo capitolo ancora più folle e sregolato.

Blacktail in definitiva prova a condensare in un’unica esperienza più generi differenti. Nonostante il tentativo sia encomiabile sotto il profilo delle intenzioni, ciò non toglie che i diversi difetti lato gameplay impediranno ai giocatori meno persistenti di portare a termine l’avventura sviluppata da The Parasight. Un’opera che confonde, che sa essere ispirata in alcuni frangenti e che non riesce a brillare, sfortunatamente, come avrebbe dovuto.

River City Girls 2’s RPG elements, dense combat, and witty sense of humor is a real shot in the arm to a genre that has been celebrating its history lately, but also in need of some innovation. Here, by expanding on its 2019 revival of the foundational design concept laid all the way back in 1989, Wayforward has blended history seamlessly with modern day vibes to create something true to its roots and new on the scene at the same time. You might call being led back and forth through the city’s map stale, but you can’t say those locations aren’t gorgeous and full of great music.
