Per essere un prodotto di debutto, The Chant si dimostra solido e promettente, tuttavia la sua stessa natura tende a evidenziare l’immaturità di un team di sviluppatori che sta imparando a coesistere sotto un’univoca direzione artistica. Nonostante abbia tutte le carte in regola per dimostrarsi un horror degno di nota, il titolo manca infatti di focus, si spezza tra la creazione di un’atmosfera tesa e la catarsi action, quindi non riesce a sviluppare il pieno potenziale dei suoi sporadici tratti virtuosi. Tenendo conto delle molte alternative a disposizione degli amanti dei giochi dell’orrore, The Chant fatica a stagliarsi dalla massa, disperdendosi in un’allucinazione perversa che stenta a lasciare un segno imperituro.

God of War Ragnarok is phenomenal. Even amongst PlayStation Studios' typically stellar output it's a showpiece — a masterfully crafted game that smashes expectations at almost every turn. The sheer, often ridiculous scope of Ragnarok makes 2018's God of War feel like a prologue — and that's perhaps the highest praise we can bestow upon a sequel.

Football Manager 2023 es una entrega conservadora para la saga de Sports Interactive, y ya van varias seguidas. Aún así, si bien ninguna de sus novedades destaca por por sí sola, todas ellas reman en la dirección correcta para hacer del juego una experiencia más inmersiva, realista y desafiante, capaz de hacer que inviertas una cantidad indecente de horas en hacer campeón al Morecambe.

God of War Ragnarok è bello esattamente come il suo predecessore, ma per motivi profondamente diversi. È più maturo in tutte le dinamiche di gameplay, più completo, più profondo e presenta un sistema di combattimento molto più vario, stratificato e gratificante. Però nel suo essere un sequel così fedele e coerente con il passato, perde per strada qualsiasi elemento di reale novità, si diluisce nella sua progressione e si scrolla di dosso anche quel tono di epicità che aveva contraddistinto il soft reboot. In fin dei conti è un more of the same; un bellissimo, divertente, longevo more of the same.

When you get into the guts of it, WRC Generations is by no means a drastic shake-up on its quality predecessors, even if there have been some small but welcome improvements to the career mode and customisation tools that have spiked my enthusiasm. It does, however, deserve credit for both the very respectable range of relevant rally cars it features, as well as its absolute mountain of rally locations. With almost every country to host the WRC over the last decade represented, WRC Generations may be KT Racing’s last WRC game, but there’s nothing least about it. The kitchen sink philosophy has resulted in a fantastic and uncommonly generous package for gravel groupies, asphalt addicts, and mud-slinging maniacs alike.

WRC Generations s'annonçait clairement comme une sorte de menu maxi best of, et c'est ce qu'il est. Certes, la simulation de KT Racing sonne davantage comme une compilation que comme un véritable nouvel opus, mais vu le contenu, et à ce prix (le jeu est vendu sous les 30 euros dans beaucoup d'enseignes), il serait vraiment dommage de se priver pour tout fan de la discipline.

Sword and Fairy: Together Forever est une excellente surprise. Totalement inconnue des joueurs Xbox, la franchise de Softstar s'offre un épisode maitrisé qui pêche sur quelques détails, avec notamment un rythme que l'on aurait aimé voir pencher un peu plus du côté de l'action que de la narration, forcément plombée par ses textes en anglais. Sur le reste, la direction artistique incroyable et les combats sans fausses notes nous offrent un titre de très grande qualité qui s'inspire des meilleurs titres du genre, pour un résultat tout aussi convaincant.

From Space doesn't bring a lot of new ideas to the table but succeeds where it needs to, delivering an entertaining twin-stick shooter. It won't change the world, but for the price it'll give you a few fun evenings.

The Chant è una discesa perturbante in altre dimensioni, giustamente separate dal nostro piano dell'esistenza; un'avventura a base di cultismo, natura, scienza prismatica, guru e meditazioni. Non è un videogioco che vuole davvero incutere paura, e anche i salti dalla sedia si contano sulle dita di una mano, ma nonostante questo una sottile angoscia comincerà molto presto a pervadervi. Sulla narrazione principale vi è poco da criticare, anche perché lo stesso argomento di partenza è non solo interessante, ma in parte anche originale. Diverse riserve potrebbero essere avanzate sul comparto tecnico, non propriamente brillante, soprattutto dal punto di vista delle animazioni dei personaggi, fin troppo carenti durante i dialoghi, e in generale poco soddisfacenti anche in tutti gli altri contesti; ma gli ambienti, complice il fascino generale e l'atmosfera, si salvano. Come survival horror, infine, The Chant brilla di rado di luce propria, ma le meccaniche proposte - la tripartizione tra Mente, Corpo e Spirito, nonché la possibilità di fabbricare e utilizzare oggetti improvvisati - sono coerenti con l'impostazione generale dell'intera esperienza. Se dobbiamo scegliere al posto vostro, vi consigliamo di provarlo. Soprattutto se i classici titoli horror non vi hanno mai davvero convinto.

The Chant offers a far-out setting, unique upgrade system, and some vintage charm, but restrictive level design, listless combat, and dingy visuals strike a sour note. While old-school survival horror fans may find The Chant appealing, wider audiences probably won’t be drinking the Kool-Aid.
