There aren't a lot of role-playing games out there -- certainly not on XBLA. That alone is reason enough for any RPG fan to give PAA:OTRSPOD -- E2 a shot. You don't have to be a fan of the web comic to enjoy Episode Two. You just have to be a fan of good games. If you hate good games, well, then this is not for you. Shoo. Go away. Play your crappy XBLA games. If you want something to pass six hours of your time and give you a few chuckles, then Penny Arcade: Yadda Yadda -- Episode Two is certainly worth 1200 Microsoft Points ($15).

Na also! Geht doch! Wann habt ihr das letzte Mal auf Wii Unterhaltung alter Schule genossen? Und zwar exklusive? Also ohne Gütesiegel für Familien, ohne Rücksicht auf die eigene Fitness oder den Intelligenzquotienten? Das ist verdammt lang her. Bei mir war es Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. An dieses Highlight kommt Disaster mit seiner Mischung aus Survival-Action und Lightgun-Shooter zwar lange nicht heran, aber es ist abwechslungsreich, spannend und zeigt einige der prächtigsten Szenen, die man bisher auf Wii sehen konnte. Und das tut Nintendos Konsole richtig gut. Vielleicht hätte es Disaster besser gestanden, wenn man sich ähnlich wie in SOS – The Final Escape auf die Herausforderungen einer Naturkatastrophe konzentriert hätte – denn in diesen Situationen ist das Spiel etwas Besonderes. Damit hätte man dem Abenteuer mehr Charakter geben können als mit belanglosen Fahr- und altbekannten Schuss-Sequenzen. Außerdem nerven die Schrittgeräusche sowie das primitive Kistenkloppen für Power-ups. Aber am Ende ist es dennoch die Mischung, die mich im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes auf Trab hält: Während die Stadt von Feuerstürmen, Erdbeben und Tsunamis bedroht wird, arbeite ich mich zum Zentrum der Terroristen vor, renne durch Feuerwände, rette Menschen und entwickle meinen Charakter. Unterm Strich ist Disaster ein gut geschnittener Thriller mit dem Popcornflair alter Zeiten. Auch wenn man aufgrund einiger Schwächen keine Wertungsgrenzen sprengen kann: Dieses Spiel füllt eine Lücke. Es tut verdammt gut, endlich mal wieder mit Remote und Nunchuk in ein ansehnliches Actionspiel abzutauchen – viel Spaß damit!

NBA Live 09 combines lackluster gameplay, lackluster graphics and a lackluster contingent of mini-games to form, you guessed it – a lackluster basketball game. To put it simply, this game should only be played on a dare. If you’re looking for an enjoyable basketball offering on the PSP, skip right past NBA Live 09 and pick up NBA 09 The Inside, which is a more enjoyable game in just about every regard.

Fallout 3 is the biggest accomplishment in adventure gaming since Oblivion. It’s incredible how fun and deep this game is. Everything in the game, from the graphics to the sound, is very well done. With a ton a quests and a huge world to explore, Fallout 3 will keep you busy until the next Bethesda release.

After juggling the pros and cons of the game from one hand to the other, I find I'm still ambivalent about it. I depend on a game's fiction to make me finish it and Exodus from the Earth nearly scared me away upon install. I mean, let's face it; the sci-fi, end-of-the-world thing has been used almost as often as Michael Jackson's prosthetic nose, and just like that nose, every time it's applied, it just looks worse. With its solid game design undermined by a cliché story, mediocre graphics and poor localization, Exodus from the Earth is a study in failed potential. The last two-thirds of the game may contain some interesting ideas and good gameplay but many gamers may never see that, having been put off by the shabbily-handled beginning. Let's hope Parallax Art Studio has the opportunity after this to offer us a better title.

Crash has had one bumpy ride on the Nintendo DS, and I had high hopes that last year's Crash of the Titans would lead to bigger and better things for the character. But Vivendi/Activision seriously dropped the ball on this one -- last year's great outing was apparently a one time thing, and we're back to a crummy addition to the once big and popular franchise.
