The Chant promettait une ambiance intriguante sur un thème très peu représenté et le bilan est plus que positif. On adore l’atmosphère générale qui s’y dégage et la direction artistique infaillible. Reprenant certaines idées ci et là de cador de l’horror/action, The Chant amène sa petite touche personnelle pour rendre le périple des plus appréciables et agréables. Techniquement assez solide, il ne présente qu’un ou deux petits défauts qui peuvent facilement être corrigés. La production de Brass Token mérite le coup d’œil, même en cette période charnière de l’année pourtant surbookée.

An enthralling spectacle to behold and an even more exciting one to take the reins of, God of War Ragnarok melds action and adventure together to create a new, unforgettable Norse saga. Impeccable writing, pitch-perfect performances, knockout action – it’s a complete work of art from top to bottom. Reflecting its core themes, it's everything a sequel should be: respectful of its legendary lineage, but not afraid to take it to exciting new places. God of War Ragnarok is an almighty achievement and creates a new high that makes many of its peers look positively mortal by comparison.

God of War Ragnarök is to God of War (2018) as God of War II was to God of War. God of War II may not have changed much mechanically, but it made nuanced improvements to gameplay, story and level design, all while injecting much-needed variety into the enemies and environments. These improvements yielded a fantastic sequel that remains one of the best entries in the franchise. Likewise, God of War Ragnarök successfully takes the foundation of God of War (2018) and makes various refinements to improve the experience. The story is bigger, bolder and filled with engrossing twists and narrative moments, yet never forgets its characters and their personal stories. Visiting the nine realms is fantastic, though the quality of each varies greatly. Combat is as rich, deep and satisfying as before, with a handful of new twists that add variety to the mechanics. The only real downside is the unsatisfying companion actions and the poor Sigil Arrows, though the AI remains faithfully competent. It’s all packaged together in a beautiful presentation, that despite being saddled with cross-gen technology, still remains one of the best-looking games of the generation. God of War Ragnarök doesn’t change the game, but it successfully builds on its predecessor’s foundations to deliver a compelling, layered and engaging title that’s as fun to play as it is to look at. This is one war that Kratos and players won’t want to prevent.

When you get into the guts of it, WRC Generations is by no means a drastic shake-up on its quality predecessors, even if there have been some small but welcome improvements to the career mode and customisation tools that have spiked my enthusiasm. It does, however, deserve credit for both the very respectable range of relevant rally cars it features, as well as its absolute mountain of rally locations. With almost every country to host the WRC over the last decade represented, WRC Generations may be KT Racing’s last WRC game, but there’s nothing least about it. The kitchen sink philosophy has resulted in a fantastic and uncommonly generous package for gravel groupies, asphalt addicts, and mud-slinging maniacs alike.

Si l'on aurait aimé pour la dernière danse de la collaboration KT Racing-WRC des nouveautés réelles sur le mode Carrière et un peu plus de fantaisie sur les modes de jeu classique ou l'habillage, WRC Generations fait le job. Dans la modélisation de ses spéciales d'abord, dans la prise en main de ses bolides selon les surfaces et les conditions ensuite. Dans la lignée d'un épisode anniversaire abouti, l'ultime titre réussit, sans chambouler drastiquement sa formule, à être un opus durable et avec la meilleure durée de vie de la saga. Plus de 150 spéciales dans 22 pays, plus de 80 bolides avec l'ajout de moteurs hybrides pour le WRC, des modes multi ligue et clubs quotidiens et hebdomadaires, l'objectif est atteint par Kylotonn Racing : le titre est immortel.

The Chant è un gioco con qualche buona intuizione: dall'atmosfera lisergica a un vivo senso di urgenza che tiene desto il giocatore per gran parte della campagna. Improntato su un sistema di combattimento limitato nelle mosse a disposizione, ma decisamente efficace nella pratica, il survival horror di Brass Token si lascia giocare con piacere. Superata la perplessità iniziale nel trovarsi praticamente di fronte a un action, The Chant, con l'esplorazione graduale dell'isola, le lotte soddisfacenti e i poteri prismatici da acquisire e accrescere, poggia su una struttura di gioco più che discreta. La solidità dell'esperienza, tuttavia, è minata da una caratterizzazione fin troppo stereotipata di tutti i personaggi del gioco, protagonista compresa. Con i loro drammi di cartapesta, i comprimari fungono da semplici trigger per mandare avanti la storia, raccontata tra l'altro da dozzine di anacronistici documenti e qualche sparuto "filmato" impresso su vecchie pellicole. L'incedere del gioco patisce inoltre l'assenza di figure forti con le quali rapportarsi e il bactracking, richiesto per la risoluzione di oziosi enigmi, finisce per sbeccare irrimediabilmente la seconda metà dell'esperienza. The Chant, con la sua gestione interessante della forza interiore, l'inizio intrigante e una rappresentazione psichedelica dell'orrore, non è però un brutto gioco, sebbene gli stereotipi, la sceneggiatura priva di guizzi e le ambientazioni poco varie nelle quali tornare più volte lo rendano per lunghi tratti un po' tedioso.

Un título referente en su género, que destaca por encima de sus competidores y que disfrutarás de principio a fin, seguramente varias veces. Un juego destinado a convertirse en clásico con el paso de los años.

Charon’s Staircase is more a thriller than a horror with a very intriguing story that has some pretty cool twists. Some of the puzzles are a bit ambiguous and will leave you scratching your head, but in the end you’ll have experienced another treasure of storytelling from the minds of a talented and dedicated smaller studio.

Me queda la sensación de que este port podría haber dado más de sí en lo técnico, de forma que tuviéramos unos gráficos acordes al magnífico trabajo artístico original. Aun así, y a pesar de resultar visualmente inferior a las versiones del resto de plataformas, la magia cooperativa original sigue vigente en Nintendo Switch, con una aventura divertidísima que goza de los mismos atributos que en su estreno. Fue y sigue siendo uno de los videojuegos más recomendables para jugar en compañía, así que si no tuviste ocasión de probarlo, corre a por él.
