OneShot is an incredibly unique experience, and one of my favorite adventure games. While there is a tiny bit of magic lost in the transition to console, the additions more than make up for it, especially for fans double dipping with the World Machine Edition. Whether it’s your first, second, or third time adventuring with Niko, this is an incredibly memorable journey that you will never forget.

Despite its shortcomings, The DioField Chronicle is still a solid tactical RPG experience with enough JRPG tropes to interest fans of both genres. The unique gameplay provides plenty of challenge, though it can require a lot of grinding to keep pace with the difficulty curve. The art style is beautiful both in and out of combat but the characters and plot fail to live up to the same standard. In this case, its ambition outstretched its means and it fell just short of where it wanted to be.

Soulstice features decent combat with a few unique tricks, but it grows repetitive. With a dull story and lackluster presentation, it might mostly be of interest to DMC fans on a budget.

If you just can’t get enough of the style of action-slasher that Hideki Kamiya made popular in the United States over 20 years ago, Soulstice might help scratch the itch – at least while you’re in combat. The setting and story, even with its strong pair of main characters, are largely just a bland backdrop for its generally competent and challenging hack-and-slash battles against some deviously fun and interesting enemies. So long as you have the stomach and willpower to trudge back and forth through its tedious, linear levels and wrangle its unruly camera in the midsts of colorful, screen-filling chaos, those fights are the light at the end of the tunnel.

Soulstice è un action con qualche spigolo, ma sicuramente anche degno di attenzioni. Concepita come un mix ideale tra Berserk e Devil May Cry, la nuova avventura dark fantasy creata dal team di sviluppo milanese autore di Joe Deve's Lone Wolf vi porterà in un mondo oscuro ricco di misteri da svelare e sfide da fronteggiare, nei panni delle tenaci sorelle guerriere Briar e Lute. Certo, siamo lontani dall'aver trovato un nuovo grande classico del genere di appartenenza, sebbene Soulstice possa riuscire sicuramente ad appagare chi cerca una decine di ore di sano stylish gaming.

Soulstice è un gioco che ha tutto il diritto di guardare verso i mostri sacri del genere, come Bayonetta e DMC, al punto da rendersi un potenziale candidato al pantheon degli hack 'n' slash (anche per il fatto che lascia spazio a un seguito e dunque alla serialità). La storia di Briar e Lute è semplice nel suo intreccio ma ben scritta e accompagna il gameplay sempre più stratificato, dando inoltre un senso a Ilden in quanto unica ambientazione del gioco. L'utilizzo che Soulstice fa della città e il senso di progressione e distanza che riesce a trasmettere sono probabilmente il suo aspetto più rivoluzionario, almeno nel genere di cui fa parte. Un'ottima prova da parte di Reply Game Studios, nonché un gioco che risulta ambizioso senza aver mai voluto esserlo.

Soulstice conosce il suo obiettivo e lo porta a compimento in modo eccellente: un'avventura dinamica, divertente, intrigante sotto molteplici aspetti che vi spingerà a voler scoprire sempre di più la storia di Briar, Lute e del Sacro Regno di Keidas. La trama migliora capitolo dopo capitolo, e le combo (sfruttando l'arma di Briar e le abilità di Lute) saranno sempre più fantastiche da vedere a schermo. Un vero gioiello del genere, che non solo ne porta alto il nome, ma prova anche a riprenderlo dal dimenticatoio dove era caduto per rilanciarlo alla ribalta, dove merita di stare.

Soulstice does an exceptional job of keeping the player engaged throughout its entirety. The amount of content just within the combat is jaw-dropping, so much so that it feels like Reply Game Studios aren’t saving anything for a sequel. There’s a lot to discover (and a lot to master) as you slowly trek through its massive world and uncover one of the most enjoyable detective-style stories that I’ve come to experience.

Though Trails’ usual splendor of combat options here should come as no surprise, what’s striking with this year’s remastering is how well this once portable-only entry has translated across to more modern-day portable screens alike. Improved textures, a modernized presentation and sensible quality-of-life inclusions are but the fitting accompaniment for one of the series’ least talked-about entrants and now more than ever, deserving of recognition for how much, a decade-plus later, it gets right. How well this game’s world-building on top of its gameplay has held up is praise in of itself, but it’s PH3’s assistance this time round in freshening up the overall look that helps Trails from Zero shine as a deserved look-in, no matter one’s prior experience with the series. An intriguing tale full of interesting world-building and appealing character moments alike, brief visual and performance issues aside, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero — specifically for those on Switch — should not go overlooked.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, pur rappresentando un passo indietro rispetto ai quattro titoli della serie Trails of Cold Steel che lo hanno preceduto sul suolo europeo, è comunque un capitolo solido e divertente dell'espanso franchise creato da Falcom, e siamo sicuri che tutti gli appassionati della lore della serie non se lo lasceranno scappare. Rispetto ai titoli succitati, però, il peso degli anni intercorsi dalla prima pubblicazione è qui più gravoso, per colpa di una presentazione non all'altezza, di qualche scelta di game design invecchiata maluccio e di uno sforzo non troppo intenso da parte dello sviluppatore nel riproporlo al pubblico odierno, probabilmente dovuto anche ad un budget tutt'altro che stellare. Se siete alla ricerca di un JRPG ben scritto, con personaggi credibili ed un combat system classico ma estremamente funzionale, siete nel posto giusto, ma bisogna anche tener presente che la concorrenza è molto forte (tanto su Switch quanto su PS4), a partire proprio dai quattro Trails of Cold Steel della stessa Falcom.

Trails from Zero puede haber quedado desfasado en algunos aspectos, como la parcela técnica o algunas decisiones de diseño, pero sigue siendo una pequeña joya RPG a descubrir, gracias a su soberbia historia y diálogos, que casan con un mundo muy interesante. Si superas su lento arranque y tareas repetitivas, disfrutarás de una gran aventura.

Vous l’aurez compris, ce test de Deathloop aura été un véritable plaisir ! Le jeu de Arkane Lyon s’offre une place parmi les FPS les plus originaux et les mieux construits de ces dernières années, proposant une expérience de jeu personnalisable et intelligente que l’on n’a pas souvent eu l’occasion de voir. C’est clairement un must-have du Xbox Game Pass et probablement l’un des jeux les plus ambitieux depuis la sortie de Bioshock, notamment. À faire et à découvrir, sans attendre. C’est un chef d’œuvre, rien de moins.

Le aspettative su Return to Monkey Island erano indubbiamente alte, ma posso dire che Ron Gilbert e Dave Grossman hanno reso onore alla saga con un nuovo capitolo che, pur con qualche ammodernamento, gode della stessa brillante anima dei loro primi lavori. Se c'era il rischio che il nome di Guybrush Threepwood o di Monkey Island potessero venir macchiati da quest'ultima avventura, direi che non è più il caso di preoccuparsi: i due co-autori hanno infatti confezionato un'altra ottima storia per i fan della loro commedia piratesca, al netto di un finale che può lasciare qualche perplessità; la conclusione di una storia è sempre una delle sue parti più importanti ed è un peccato che proprio lì si potesse a mio avviso fare qualcosa di più, per quanto questo non tolga nulla alla bellezza delle dieci ore precedenti.
