The Xbox 360 version of Star Trek Legacy has managed to erase some (but not a lot) of the disappointment of the PC version. Given that the starship combat offerings on the 360 aren't quite as numerous as they are on the PC, the console version naturally stands out a bit more. Honestly, if you want a Star Trek game and all you have is a 360, this is pretty much your only hope. Gamers who have a gaming PC may find it worthwhile to try older and more satisfying titles like Bridge Commander. The console controls are much better, which makes Legacy a better proposition on the 360. Still, the overly long missions and the lack of save points make it hard to really embrace the game. There are plenty of interesting achievements to unlock if you stick with it but the overall appeal of the game starts to wear thin after you're forced to replay a forty-minute mission just because your objectives weren't very clear. On the plus side, fans of the Star Trek franchise will definitely appreciate the visuals, sounds and story elements. Legacy hits the right spots here, faithfully bringing the various series of Star Trek to the Xbox 360 in a very convincing, consistent manner. In the end, however, the license is all this game has going for it.

Es geht aufwärts, es macht wieder für ein Match zwischendurch Laune, aber das reicht nicht! Dieser Basketball kann trotz der Fortschritte gegenüber der Katastrophe des Vorjahres nicht begeistern. Es gibt wie immer einige Highlights in der Präsentation, das Publikum geht lautstark mit, der Umfang stimmt mit Online-, WM- sowie Dynasty-Modus und manche Dunks sehen klasse aus. Aber unterm Strich wird spielerisch gerade mal ein befriedigendes Niveau erreicht. Und man weiß nie genau, ob man jetzt eine Simulation oder Spaßbasketball spielt – irgendwie ist NBA Live 07 weder Fisch noch Fleisch. Es fehlt einfach der Flow, das Krachen, die Faszination. Es fehlt das Gefühl, die Spieler wirklich präzise steuern und den Ball mit Timing und Auge wirklich optimal werfen zu können – hier reicht ein Knopfdruck! Immerhin stehen die neuen Dribblings, das taktische Aufposten und einige coole Superstar-Bewegungen auf der Habenseite. Die Offensive hat eindeutig an Qualität gewonnen, tendiert fast schon wieder Richtung Arcadeleichtigkeit. Aber man vermisst die Kontrolle in der Defensive und das Geschehen auf dem Platz wirkt phasenweise immer noch zu abgehackt. Auch die Freiwürfe lassen Natürlichkeit vermissen und hinzu kommen Schiedsrichterentscheidungen, die einfach nicht nachvollziehbar sind. Und bei allem Respekt vor diesem unterm Strich befriedigenden Weg, der vielleicht mit NBA Live 09 mal zum sehr guten Ziel führen könnte: Warum soll ich mir dieses durchschnittliche Spiel kaufen, wenn die Konkurrenz selbst mit dem alten NBA 2K7 nicht eine, nicht zwei, sondern drei Klassen besseren Basketball serviert? Bald kommt übrigens NBA 2K8…

The King of Fighters XI is fun, complex and has a ton of characters to try out, with only a handful of them requiring an unlock. At only about $20, it's hard not to recommend this to fighting game enthusiasts. While it doesn't bring anything new to the table, and its visuals fail to impress, the fast-paced tag-team battles and old-school challenge make this a title to look out for. Casual gamers beware: this is a game with an absurd amount of information to learn and master, so skip this one if you don't want to invest the time and sore thumbs.

P0rtal è un tuffo nel passato. Quando la singola idea, azzeccata ed originale, bastava per sfondare; ma anche nel futuro, grazie ad una realizzazione che integra impeccabilmente esigenze artistiche, ludiche e commerciali come raramente accade di questi tempi. Impossibile farsi sfuggire un prodotto di questa portata, a maggior ragione tenendo in considerazione l’offerta cumulativa “Orange Box”, di cui il suddetto è parte integrante. Chiudiamo con la laconica esclamazione riportata in calce sulla confezione di gioco, ad opera di una celebre testata d’oltreoceano. Semplicemente: “Il miglior affare nella storia dei videogiochi”.

Ci si aspettava qualcosa di più a livello narrativo ma per il resto, Silent Hill: Origins è un titolo eccellente soprattutto dal punto di vista tecnico. Ferma restando una struttura ludica piuttosto classica, ritoccata qua e là in modo da risultare più attuale, in questa produzione ritroviamo lo stesso ritmo incalzante e opprimente che abbiamo amato negli altri episodi. I difetti riscontrati nella gestione della telecamera e una longevità non proprio all’altezza delle aspettative (cinque ore di gioco con un po’ pochine anche considerando di volerlo rigiocare per sbloccare i vari finali e costumi alternativi) non bastano a cancellare l’effettiva bontà di questo titolo a cui, volenti o nolenti, si continua a rimanere incollati nonostante l’incredibile senso si fragilità ed impotenza che riesce a trasmettere. Da non perdere.
