Should these gripes keep you from playing NHL 2K8? Probably not. The game looks good in action and -- eventually -- feels fun on the ice while offering online leagues and tournaments, unlockable uniforms and more. It sucks that the interface is clunky and that people are going to scoff at the new control system, but if you play hockey games for how real they feel, you've found a winner.

Tingle is a very strange game then, and not just because of the far-out plot and bizarre cast of characters. There’s no deny it can be irritating, depressing and positively unfair at times but equally it has an undeniable charm that helps overlook some its inherent flaws. Exploring familiar-yet-skewed Zelda locations and the superbly imaginative bosses are certainly a highlight, and concocting recipes is fun too. Plus there’s Tingle himself, who is such a relentlessly cheerful idiot you can’t help but want to see the adventure through to its climax. The problem is that to do so you have to suffer enormous frustration and if that’s enough to turn you off then give Tingle a miss. However, if you’re willing to persevere you’ll discover one of the DS’s most curious and quirky titles to date.

I like MySims and have given it a "good" final score. The game has style and charm. I'm partial to the cute, colorfuly visual presentation and actually wish that EA had done a little more with it, going so far as to incorporate Mii avatars – I feel that was a missed opportunity. The world that you explore in the game is filled with objectives, which is great. The problem is that nearly all of the objectives revolve around the same two tasks: the collection of essences and the construction of houses, buildings and items. All of the Sim management and social interaction elements of the previous games – well, you're not going to find much of that in the streamlined Wii affair. If you can get past that, you will still find a fun affair that uses the Wii remote well and generally looks pretty good. It just isn't as non-linear or deep as any Sims game before it. With any luck, the sequel will marry the depth of the series with the new Wii look and controls.

With the DS version of MySims EA set out to create a very laid back, Animal Crossing-like experience for the younger pocket crowd, and for the most part it succeeded. On one hand you’ve got aspects of the game such as the active map that shows exactly where everyone in the town is at all times, or the comprehensive top-screen clock that can be activated, showing exactly how much time is left in each section of the day. On the other, however, MySims is lacking in any serious depth, relying heavily on the replay value of just a handful of mini-games that, in the end, are about as entertaining as a single Mario Party challenge. The game has a very soft, inviting design to it, including everything from the color palette to the simplistic musical score, so if you’re looking for something geared towards younger, new gamers MySims fits the bill. Just don’t expect it to hold players for more than a few solid hours overall.
