Starship Troopers Extermination est un FPS coopératif qui propose d’excellentes sensations manette en mains et qui est pourvu de bonnes idées : les corps qui s’empilent, la gestion de base, l’évolution de notre personnage… Malheureusement, le jeu est gangréné par des problèmes techniques récurrents, mais également par un contenu famélique qui fera crisser des dents de nombreux joueurs qui risquent de délaisser rapidement le combat…

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is an impressively robust celebration of all things Dragon Ball. It's just about as bombastic as arena fighters get, and while the game could do a much better job of teaching players the ropes, there's a technical depth to combat that makes the learning curve feel incredibly rewarding. Boasting a colossal character roster and some of the best anime-based visuals in gaming, Sparking! Zero is an absolute blast.

Di certo Metaphor: ReFantazio non era un salto nel buio per Atlus, visto che lo Studio Zero è formato da un pugno di veterani dell'azienda e del genere JPRG. Eppure, nel mercato odierno, presentare una nuova proprietà intellettuale (peraltro con un nome impronunciabile e con un limitato battage pubblicitario) rappresenta una scommessa notevole, e siamo felici che il publisher giapponese l'abbia stravinta. Non siamo ai livelli di eccellenza di Persona 5 Royal, e d'altronde in questo caso siamo all'inizio di un cammino e non nella piena maturità del franchise, ma la libertà ed il grado di personalizzazione garantiti dal sistema degli archetipi e la riuscita ibridazione tra il rodato sistema di combattimento dei Persona e le fasi action che lo precedono sono pietre angolari su cui Studio Zero ed Atlus potranno costruire in futuro. Alla luce della differente ambientazione e della maturità dei temi trattati, Metaphor: ReFantazio non è solo un passaggio obbligato per tutti i fan dei precedenti lavori di Hashino-san e del suo team, ma anche per tutti coloro che non amassero l'ambientazione contemporanea giapponese ed il cast di adolescenti tipico del franchise Persona. La prima pietra è stata posta e le basi sono di altissimo livello: vedremo quale sarà il possibile futuro di Metaphor.

L'ultima fatica di Katsura Hashino e del suo Studio Zero è un grandissimo GDR giapponese con un problema di identità: è Persona calato in un contesto fantasy metareferenziale con evidentissimi richiami alle dinamiche collaudate della serie Atlus e del progenitore Shin Megami Tensei. Al netto di un comparto tecnico arretrato ma compensato da una direzione artistica eccellente, Metaphor: ReFantazio è un JRPG sospeso in un limbo tra innovazione e tradizione che piacerà immensamente a tutti quelli che amano questa particolare deriva, anche se sarebbe stato più entusiasmante giocare qualcosa di completamente nuovo.

Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire ci ha lasciato con un pò di amaro in bocca, dobbiamo ammetterlo. Da un lato, la voglia di omaggiare i grandi classici degli RPG è palpabile, con omaggi ed ispirazioni che i fan del genere sapranno apprezzare a corredo di un prodotto con diverse idee intriganti. Dall'altro lato, tuttavia, la realizzazione tecnica claudicante, i problemi di ritmo ed un combat system che presta il fianco (anzi, la fusoliera) a troppe critiche, rendono l'esperienza a tratti eccessivamente snervante. Un prodotto che probabilmente aveva bisogno di un pò di tempo extra per essere migliorato e che sfortunatamente, allo stato attuale, può essere consigliato solo allo zoccolo più duro di nostalgici ed appassionati... complice anche la tremenda concorrenza diretta di ottobre. We can forgive a game for being too ambitious for its own good, trying something bold, and possibly falling short. The trouble with Sky Oceans: Wings for Hire is that it tries to deliver something we’ve seen before and still manages to fail at it. Even if you stripped out every technical issue, improved the camera, and polished up the visuals, you would still be left with a painfully average gaming experience. Sky Oceans doesn’t even crash and burn – it fails to leave the runway.

Last Time I Saw You is a narrative adventure set in 1980s Japan, following 12-year-old Ayumi as he navigates relationships, a cursed town, and a mysterious girl who changes his life. The game blends exploration, puzzles, and choices, while the heartfelt story, gorgeous visuals, and emotional depth make it a standout experience. Though the pacing can be slow at times, the compelling narrative and unique setting keep players engaged, offering a nostalgic and relatable journey through the trials of youth.

Remettre au goût du jour une légende du point and click aurait pu inciter son développeur à se reposer sur les qualités d’origine du titre et laisser opérer la magie. Il n’en est rien pour Les Chevaliers de Baphomet - L'ombre des templiers Reforged. Cette aventure merveilleuse profite ici d’un formidable travail de refonte graphique qui fait honneur aux qualités du matériau d’origine. A ce stade il aurait suffi de dépoussiérer aussi les doublages pour offrir au monde un remake absolument parfait. On va tout de même se contenter de cette quasi-perfection et exhorter les joueurs non-allergiques au genre à (re)découvrir ce point and click enchanteur.

The reimagined Silent Hill 2 is an experience that truly understands and honors the original game. It deconstructs and rebuilds the experience from the ground up, creating something that feels familiar yet also like a whole new game. It takes inspiration from the classic 2001 original and incorporates the many advancements made since its release. Influences from games like Condemned, RE, Dead Space, The Evil Within, Alan Wake 2, and even later Silent Hill games are collected and honed to make something very fresh and extremely polished. It may not be pushing the genre forward, but Silent Hill 2 (2024) feels like the peak of what the current horror remake movement of the last five years can accomplish. It’s an experience I confidently recommend to anyone looking for a shining example of what the horror genre has to offer.

Es curioso pero Vessel of Hatred es una de esas expansiones ejemplares a las que no le falta de nada, y con las que es fácil acabar contentos; y a la vez también te deja con cierto sabor agridulce por ese desenlace abrupto que corta la acción justo cuando más empezaba a brillar. El viaje hasta ese final es apasionante y tan frenético como podrías esperar de Diablo IV, con una nueva clase que es divertidísima de jugar, novedades como los mercenarios que contribuyen a hacer más espectacular la acción, y toneladas de contenido para que siempre tengas algo que hacer. Blizzard ha hecho muy bien los deberes, pero no ha sabido rematarlo para alcanzar la excelencia. Aún así es un juego recomendable que te va a garantizar horas de pura matanza demoníaca.

Undisputed privilégie donc le fond à la forme. C’est une position délicate, car à l’heure du photoréalisme tous azimuts, les carences et les imperfections passent de plus en plus mal, et il n’est pas certain que tous les joueurs y trouvent leur compte. Pour autant, c’est aussi un choix cohérent et courageux qui prône l’essence de la simulation comme argument principal et s’affranchit de l’approche « film interactif ». Dans cette logique, le titre édité par Deep Silver va jusqu’au bout, quitte à prendre le risque de s’éloigner du grand public. Ce sera peut-être payant sur la durée, mais Undisputed devra tenir ses promesses en matière de contenu en ligne pour asseoir sa popularité auprès des fans et s’imposer comme héritier incontestable de Fight Night. Pour l’instant, il mène aux points, et c’est déjà pas si mal !
