With abundant customisation, and a foundation that allows infinite hours to be sunk into online play, Everybody’s Golf is a solid series entry despite minor niggles in the graphics and online server departments. It’s also very welcoming to newcomers whilst providing a serious challenge to veterans, all wrapped up in a huge online and offline package.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a gripping exploration game, and one that will likely have you thinking about it long after the credits roll. It quickly sucks you into its world and has you hungry to figure out what’s going on with the Finch family, and what you uncover never fails to be surprising. It may not be the longest or most challenging game out there, but it’s one that has an intriguing world that’s worth visiting.

Superhot VR is one of the best VR experiences available. It’s campaign is pure glee for those seeking an action experience. Its formula simply works perfectly in VR, and the developer knew it going in, allowing them to explore great new mechanics and craft a fantastic experience. It still has some things holding it back, such as the shorter campaign, but extra modes and challenges make up for this well. If you have a VR headset then you owe it to yourself to grab Superhot VR.

Elite: Dangerous is a very ambitious title which has been implemented well so far. It has been officially “released,” but that really only means that anyone who has purchased a copy is now able to play whatever features Frontier Developments deems publicly ready. The current base form of Elite: Dangerous leaves much to be desired for the majority of players as, while the universe is exceptionally large with roughly 400 billion star systems spread across the galaxy, the activities you can actually do within the galaxy, while initially fun and engaging, are quite limited in scope and, frankly, repetitive. As it is now, if you’re looking for something relaxing and relatively stress-less to pass the time, Elite: Dangerous is your game. If you’re looking for a game that will bring hours and hours of new and varied excitement in your life, Elite: Dangerous just isn’t quite that game. Yet.

Ever Oasis is a perfect blend of management simulator and action-RPG. Despite being on a handheld, this deep RPG’s stylish presentation and many gameplay systems come together in a way that few games do.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew is a standout VR experience. It not only delivers something that fans have wanted for decades, it does so in unique and interesting ways. Star Trek fans will love every second of it, and thanks to random missions, that time can stretch for quite a while. It’s just unfortunate that the game doesn’t offer more. More enemy types, more ships, more mission options, more of everything. The game is excellent in its current form, but with a little bit of tweaking it could be the system-selling VR game that we’ve all been waiting for.

Farpoint is an interesting game when taken on its own. It’s an OK shooter with some interesting VR mechanics that lift it out of mediocrity. When thought about in the entire VR gaming space it becomes more important, but doesn’t change the feeling that players will get from the game overall. It is not a tech demo, offering a full campaign of relatively short length. And the Aim Controller is really a fantastic new control scheme for VR shooters. It’s worth checking out for VR and shooter enthusiasts, but others might want to wait for a sale

Whether or not Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition is worth adding to your library comes down to what you want out of the game. This is simply the best portable version of Minecraft available. It runs well, the worlds are large, and the solid 60fps framerate can’t be oversold. Splitscreen on the go is fantastic, though anything beyond two players gets a bit crazy. On the TV this isn’t the best version out there, but it’s solid enough to compete with its console brethren. If you haven’t played Minecraft, or just want it in handheld form, then this should be an easy buy.

Tariser has come a long way from the bubbly world of LittleBigPlanet with the dark and disgusting world of Little Nightmares. What it lacks in gamplay substance is made up for in visual and audio design. If that’s a trade-off you’re worth making, then Little Nightmares is a decent entry for the genre.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition is easily the definitive version of the game, and if you’ve never picked up the game previously then now is the perfect time to jump on board. Its fantastic Skillshot system and unique weapons make it still feel fresh six years later, and People Can Fly have done a great job touching it up for modern hardware. The previous issues still apply, but overall it’s a stylish FPS that fans of the genre looking for something outside of the box should enjoy.

David Jaffe has always been known for games that can be a bit over the top and Drawn to Death may be the most extreme example of that to date. The notebook art style is very unique and works well with the varying character roster throughout the fast paced arena matches. However, the long wait times and crass humor used to make Drawn to Death seem edgy really drag down the experience as a whole.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 became pretty elusive after being delisted awhile back, so getting a chance to obtain and play the game with ease again at a solid price is great. The single player content is still lacking and the netcode is pretty shoddy, but an impressive character lineup and the number of costumes included in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for a bargain price is just the recipe to whet your appetite while you wait for the upcoming fourth entry in the series.

For the price, Super Bomberman R is a tough sell. It does deliver on the promise of a return to the classic multiplayer that we all love. And the Switch is starving for content, as all newly launched systems do. If you really love Bomberman's signature multiplayer, or if you really have to have a new Switch game, then Super Bomberman R will serve its purpose. If you want a full, content-rich experience then you'll want to wait for something else.

While Square Enix is largely focused on the future with upcoming games like Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3, they are not one to forget the past, of which I Am Setsuna is a perfect example. Taking a character driven story that will keep players coming back for hours and combining it with a classic gameplay style works exceptionally well, making I Am Setsuna one game that not just ’90s RPG fans will love, but even general fans of the genre should really enjoy.
