Art Academy puts me in a weird position. As an artist, I think it's a neat toy that has some good lessons for novice painters and drawers to improve and develop their basic skills. But I also feel hesitation at the bad habits it seems forced to encourage due to the limitations of the DS hardware (and also, not one mention of composition anywhere?), and the lack of any export-to-SD card feature is a strange omission. Would-be artists can check it out for a decent introduction to drawing and painting, but those truly interested in building a solid art foundation will need to seek a more robust course load elsewhere.

Besides the few mini-games that are broken, Crafting Mama works fine; it's just not that fun. And while its target audience might really enjoy it, I can't understand why anyone would want to make a paper airplane in a game rather than just making one in real life.

Gods vs. Humans makes you feel like a schmuck, not a diety, since the incredibly efficient humans can undo all your hard work easily. Plus, with only four different areas and a few unique God powers, almost every level feels and looks the same to play, which gets tiresome very quickly. Simply put, Gods vs. Humans isn’t fun and isn’t worth 1200 Wii points.

GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo DS is a better multiplayer game than it is a single-player experience. But ultimately it’s not a good replacement for the Wii game, nor can it stand up to the classic Nintendo 64 original. It's definitely the weakest entry in N-Space's DS first-person shooters -- Call of Duty: Black Ops, released in the same window, looks to be the better FPS option.

Flip's Twisted World is a constant frustration. Its core concept is sound, its main character is well-designed, and its story setup works well -- but the poorly programmed, poorly thought-out execution of its ideas in the game itself just leaves you disappointed. You'll want to like this game. You'll try to like it. But, in the end, you just won't.

That's irritating, and makes me want to just go back to normal Bejeweled or one of its better imitators, like Puzzle Quest.

In the end, Blood Drive is just some generic cars running over some ho-hum zombies. The controls could be tighter and no one seems to be playing online, but the game succeeds at giving you a license to run over the undead. It just isn't that exciting.

HAWX 2 is one of the few games that actually feels like less than the sum of its parts. As a mostly on-rails arcade shooter, it functions, more or less, though there are much better games on Wii that do similar things. But from the awful presentation to the poorly implemented secondary modes (and I didn't even mention the cutscenes that are static images drawn in what looks like Photoshop in about 5 minutes), HAWX 2 for Wii has a solid target-lock on the bargain bin.

Last year, I fell in love with Shank based on its promise and presentation, but after finishing the game, the honeymoon is over. I can appreciate the things Klei pulled off, and in many ways, they’re achingly close to something magical. However, the fundamental level design issues later in the game, combined with the eventual tedium of the combat it relies on, makes Shank a good game for a particular audience rather than a great game worthy of everyone’s attention. For PC players, the best looking version is plagued by an interface that feels a bit lazy in transition from the consoles. Fans of character action titles should pull out their virtual wallets without hesitation, but otherwise, Shank might just be too sharp to handle.

I really like the idea behind TV Superstars. It’s a decent attempt at doing something unique in the casual space -- spoofing popular reality and game shows and creating what is in essence a series of mini-games for players to work with. The character creation is novel, and the career mode is a nice hook that will certainly keep gamers engaged... at least for two or three hours until you’ve seen everything the game has to offer and then some. And that’s really the crux of the issue with TV Superstars. There simply isn’t much meat on this bone. The game has personality, and I appreciate that, but where’s the substance? There’s a nice idea to build off of here, and TV Superstars is probably one of the better investments for games to play with the Move. But then again, that’s not really saying much. Even if you’re playing with friends, TV Superstars is best relegated to a weekend rental. I honestly can’t imagine a situation where someone should buy this game, not because it’s bad but because the amount of content doesn’t warrant its price tag.

Sonic Colors is a dizzying combination of the distantly familiar memories of the first few Sonic titles combined with thoughtful new abilities and mostly well executed level design. There are a few issues that mar an otherwise awesome experience, but those shouldn't stop Sonic fans and Wii owners from grabbing the best Sonic game in 18 years. As a blueprint for the future of SEGA's star, Sonic Colors delivers, and then some.
