The Sims 3 on the DS finally delivers an open-world god-sim experience, but it’s not without some minor frustrations. Karma powers don’t work nearly as well on the handheld as they do on consoles, but if you look at it as a bonus feature rather than an integral piece of the gameplay, it’s not a huge deal. If you’re looking for your Sims fix on the go, the third time is clearly the charm.

like Monopoly Streets. While its gameplay can be painfully slow at time, especially if you’re looking for a fully streamlined experience, it will still prove to be a worthwhile purchase for Monopoly fans who have no one to play with. As someone who thoroughly enjoys Monopoly and yet fully understands how many people detest the game, I was satisfied with playing against the computer, which presented a fair challenge, especially on its hardest settings. Online multiplayer has some robust options, too, and I had a couple of good, well-fought matches in the online space, though how successful the game will be online depends entirely on if people are willing to purchase the game and become a regular part of the community. Monopoly Streets isn’t going to make new fans if you already find the core Monopoly gameplay boring and mundane, but if you’re a fan of Monopoly and want a version to play on your home console, whether online or offline, you probably needn’t look any further.

Dance Central is great fun, it gets you moving, and it's absolutely perfect for parties. Although it's disappointing to see so few features and unlocks included, the actual song selection, dance routines, and the accuracy of the Kinect implementation is what makes Dance Central worth a look. Dancing is one of my favorite things besides video games, and Dance Central combines those two pastimes beautifully.

I'm sure diehard fans of the manga are going to call for my head, but this game is just a simple brawler. You use basic attacks to build up somewhat neat signature attacks and eventually defeat a boss. There are different stories to play through and plenty to unlock, but it's nothing special.

Blood Stone is not a bad game: it's just a painfully average one. There aren't any majorly broken elements to it, but just because this Stone is relatively polished, doesn't make it a gem. There really isn't anything at all remarkable about it, and even though it's extremely short it still manages to wear out its welcome thanks to its extremely repetitive design. If GoldenEye is indeed the Sean Connery of 007 video games, then Blood Stone is the George Lazenby; not bad, but not good either, and forgettable in almost every way. At just five hours long and lacking in any real innovation or challenge, it won't leave you feeling shaken nor stirred, just shortchanged.

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 has hours and hours of combat that only the most hardcore of fans are going to enjoy. The ability to quickly move between the ground and the air in fights, or to do ultra-powerful super moves will tickle any person's fancy for a moment or two, but ultimately this just isn't a very good fighting game. Overly complicated controls are put into a game where button mashing can win the day with ease, layered on top of no story and a host of unlockable pictures and other trivial things that only the most hardcore of Dragon Ball fans will enjoy. If ever there was a good example of a "strictly for fans" sort of game, Raging Blast 2 is definitely it.

I can understand there’s a bit of resistance to the idea that GoldenEye 007 on Wii is anything but a cash-in for Activision, but believe it when I say that this game is one of the best Wii games of the year. Things might have changed in the last 15 years, but at the very least Activision and Eurocom have done wonders to capture the essence that the original Nintendo 64 game grabbed a decade and a half ago. I don’t think the WIi game will change the FPS genre in the same way the Rare design did, but as a standalone, original experience, it’s hard to deny this game’s greatness.

DJ Hero 2 doesn't mess anything up that made the first game great. I personally prefer the tracklist of the original DJ Hero, but it will come down to how much you like Top 40 radio hits from the likes of Lady Gaga and Pitbull. This is still the best soundtrack of any music game, though, and the mash-ups remain impressive as hell. There are great new additions like Battle Mode and Freestyle crossfading, but also a couple missteps like vocals and Freestyle scratching. If you liked DJ Hero, I'm confident you'll like the sequel and I recommend it to anyone even casually interested in DJ or dance culture.

LEGO Universe is what people in the real-estate industry would call a fixer-upper. There are a lot of issues that mask the elements that sets Universe apart from other MMOs, including bugs, strange gameplay choices and a general lack of content. If all you want to do is build, LEGO Universe might provide the perfect outlet for your creative juices at a fraction of the cost of actual LEGO, but you will have to contend with the multitude of issues that plague the wider game.

I found Fable III to be a lot of fun, which is ultimately the most important thing you could ask of a game. It has its shortcomings -- a few technical bugs occasionally rear their ugly faces and the disjointed design stunts some of the more emotional moments -- but all told it’s a great game that is well worth your time and money. This is a massive game, and yet it remains accessible to gamers of all skill levels. That in itself is a pretty special achievement. Tack on a solid combat system, an immersive world, and decisions with real consequences, and you’ve got a game that just about anybody can enjoy.

It’s amazing that The Sims 3 works so well with a controller and that many of the PC functions are still intact. So if you’re curious about the Sims and don’t own a computer (or a rig that can handle complex games), you should try out the console version. The instant gratification of the Karma powers plus the addictive formula of The Sims 3 is a winning combination, but the game isn’t perfect. With some minor performance problems and the limited world, this title lacks some replayability right out of the gate. However, if it’s a title EA supports with downloadable content like they do with the PC version, Sims 3 could have a promising future. The PC title is still superior, but if you can’t see that version in your future, the console port is worth your time.
