If you played and enjoyed last year's Call of Duty: World at War on DS, then you can expect to like Moblized. It brings the war to modern times once more while sticking to the same winning formula. Shooting, manning stationary guns, and getting behind the wheels of some heavy machinery are all part of the classic Call of Duty package and the DS crowd isn't missing out on the fun. The controls won't be ideal for everyone, so give Mobilized a try on a friend's system before you take the plunge if you can. The same goes for the look. Even so, this is one fully featured package and a technically impressive game that successfully takes Call of Duty to the handheld while bringing its own unique presentation to the table.

Excitebike is still a fun design in its enhanced World Rally follow-up. The multiplayer mode and the online-capable track creator feels like natural additions to the classic, though an offline, splitscreen multiplayer mode seems like a no-brainer addition and it's a shame it wasn't in the final product. As much as I still hold the classic near and dear to my heart I don't think it quite holds up to today's standards, but this 3D revisit is easily one of the better WiiWare offerings available.

Painkiller: Resurrection features confusing level design just barely edged out by Call for Heroes: Pompolic Wars (which is terrible) and utterly unsatisfying enemy encounters only slightly more appetizing than the banquet of boredom that is You Are Empty (which, since you probably haven't played it either, is also terrible). It's a repulsive cocktail of inconvenience, design missteps and frustration that fails to entertain on any level. Quite simply, if you buy this game, you are wasting your money.

Shaun White was good fun on Wii last year and it's still a nice ride a year later. Not a lot has changed, though, and you may be a little underwhelmed if you've already been down the mountain. I also want to stress that this is a kids' game, although it's one of the better kids' games around. If you're looking for a simple arcade racer, Shaun White is your man.

Hampered by bland, repetitive play and old control issues, Elite Squadron is one of those games that really will appeal to the hardcore fan only. While there are a couple of bright spots, such as playing as a hero character or in Galactic Conquest mode (which is a vastly underused element for the game), the gameplay hasn't really evolved at all. Overall, it's an experience that, while mildly amusing for a while, leaves you with a desire for much, much more.

I thought last year’s Buzz! Quiz Master has some solid ideas that just needed to be expanded upon in the sequel. That doesn’t happen here. There’s definitely a better presentation to the modes and I dig the new color scheme, but the game's littered with issues. Why have the option for set names if Buzz won’t say them? Why not let me download MyBuzz quizzes to the PSP to play on the go? Why not be able to tell the game I can’t use sound like in Brain Age? Why have so many questions repeat so quickly? There is good stuff in here with modes like Rollover, Buzz’s quips, and the general fun of quizzing, but it’s not enough to overcome the game’s shortcomings. The long and short of it is pretty simple: I like Buzz! games and played Master Quiz a bunch, but I won’t be picking Buzz! Quiz World back up anytime soon.

I enjoyed Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier. I’m a fan of the series and thought the platforming was fun, the puzzles using powers were cool, and the upgrading of ships and Jak provided some depth. Unfortunately, the empty environments, camera issues, and repetitive nature of some of the battles ding the game to the point that I can’t give it a glowing recommendation. There’s fun to be had here, but it could’ve been polished a bit more to bring out the value.

We Cheer 2 isn’t a bad cheerleading game, which was a surprise for me heading into this review. There’s a decent amount of fun to be had in the core gameplay and the career is fairly well designed. The one massive disappointment is the controls which really hamper the experience. The inaccuracies happen several times per song and even more so when you ratchet up the difficulty. It’s unfortunate that a game that’s so reliant on motion controls doesn’t leverage the new technology that’s available. If it had we might’ve been treated to the sleeper hit of the year. Sadly that’s not quite the case.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 is a solid game of soccer that could’ve been improved with just a bit of innovation. It’s tough to expect developers to invest resources in the aging system, but then one has to wonder why they’re still releasing games on the hardware at all. PES 2010 on PlayStation 2 will suit you if you haven’t played the series in several years, but if you have any other option available, you’ll enjoy yourself more elsewhere.

This is the fourth and last chapter in the series, and it feels a bit claustrophobic mainly because Telltale recycles so many assets and locations from before. We understand that's the nature of the episodic beast, but it doesn't change the fact that it feels like we've seen much of this game before. Still, this four episode series has felt like a welcome shot of Wallace & Gromit, with all the invention and charm that the duo is known for.

Most of Dragonology's issues are minor, though, and shouldn't keep young, dragon-crazed DS players from having fun tracking down the "real" dragons of the world alongside Dr. Drake here. Older gamers won't be nearly as entertained, as this one's clearly targeted to the younger set -- but if you've got a son, daughter, niece, nephew or cousin in the Eragon and How To Train Your Dragon age range, Dragonology on DS could be another nice addition to their own growing museums of dragonalia.

The console versions of LEGO Rock Band are merely reskinned, rehashed Rock Band experiences, but the Nintendo DS version feels fresh and new. Yes, it's rebuilding the PSP's Rock Band Unplugged for play on the Nintendo handheld, but it's the first time that design's been made available for Nintendo DS players, so I'm stoked to experience it as a new game. The track list is great and the button-based rhythm gameplay's extremely fun to play, moreso in single player than in the wireless multiplayer. As a direct Rock Band conversion this game isn't an accurate recreation of the true experience, but as a unique rhythm game? LEGO Rock Band is very fun and definitely worth a playthrough.

Band Hero on the PlayStation 2 is $39.99, and that’s ridiculous. By picking this iteration up over the other versions, you’d save $20 but miss out on boatloads of content that make Band Hero fun. Yes, the track list is solid if you like questionable music like I do, but you’re getting the very basics of a multiplayer band game here. You can do better.

Need for Speed Nitro lays some great groundwork as a new series on Wii. This first outing isn’t perfect, lacking some sort of first-person bumper or cockpit camera option, some spotty drift controls, and a generally thin list of locales, but it also swings for the fences during its first outing. The whole “paint the city” vibe is interesting, though downplayed overall, the car editor is hands-down amazing and the highlight of the package, and the sense of speed (complete with 60 frames per second) is insane. Nitro is a blast despite its faults, and brings some simply awesome concepts to the table. If you’re a racing fan, this is the first NFS experience that’s actually worth the cash on Wii. With that being said, there’s so much more that’s possible within the Nitro world, and hopefully EA puts in the wrench time needed to capitalize on its potential.

The Last Resort is a fun game and worth the price of admission for gamers who are Wallace and Gromit fans. The visual style of the show and the overall humor are the high points here, but we were disappointed that the action never really moved beyond a few rooms in Wallace's house and seemed to bounce back and forth among a cast of characters who are nowhere near as compelling as the inventor and his dog. We're just confused as to why Wallace and Gromit have so little to do with each other in their own game. The additional problems in terms of input and visual performance make this version slightly less attractive than the PC version.

I'm still not sure who LEGO Rock Band is for. I'm sure there's somebody out there that owns Rock Band 2, but doesn't want to admit he listens to metal songs, and has a couple kids that refuse to play anything without cartoony characters, and a mother in law who is so bad at rhythm games she needs them to practically play themselves. Plus this guy likes to spend full price for half a game. Lego Rock Band is perfect for you, dude. Trying to tell you whether or not you should buy this game is complicated. Honestly it might require an extensive flowchart. I can tell you right off the bat that you should not get the Wii version. It has the fewest features (in a game that already took out a bunch of features). The lack of DLC support severely limits the replayability. To top if off, it looks like crap, too. It's a shame because the Wii version of Rock Band 2 is by far the most popular. You guys got boned on this. For the rest of you, here are the things to keep in mind: You need to already have instruments to play. You either need to be willing to play the same songs over and over, or be willing to drop more money on DLC. You have to like LEGO enough where it actually makes the game significantly more appealing so you can ignore all the features that were taken out. Or, if all else fails you just need to like the songs enough to be willing to drop $60 ($50 for the game, plus $10 for the export fee) for a track pack. And ultimately that's how this game should be looked at for most people. It's a kind of pricey track pack of a bizarre setlist for a really fun rhythm game.
