The Sims 3 may not sway non-Sims fans from changing their minds about the series, but there’s more than enough here to please the many legions of fans already out there. This is simply a better playing Sims experience, and once you experience the freedom to hit the town without hitting a load screen you’ll be hard-pressed to go back to any of the earlier games. Blowing up the size of the game was certainly a risk, but it was a sensible and overdue one, and kudos to EA for recognizing that the decade-old formula needed some growth. And while there’s still plenty of room for more innovation, we’ll settle for The Sims 3 for now. It delivers a solid foundation for what should be many more years of Sims sales dominance.

Knights in the Nightmare may be – in fact, I’m pretty sure it is – the most complex game I’ve ever played. There’s a near-endless list of options, strategy, stats, and gameplay mechanics to learn, and I could see serious players spending an hour or two learning the ins and outs of the game via tutorials and tips, trying a few missions to get the feel for it all, and then restarting their file once they really get the game. It’s deep, and for some it’s going to be too much. For others though, this is the depth and strategy that is missing from current-day games. If you’re up for a truly original, genre-less experience that innovates and pushes players in a way few titles will, Knights in the Nightmare is meant for you. And with every new piece of the puzzle comes a whole new wave of possibilities. By the time you figure it all out, you’ll have discovered a game so robust and truly complete that you – like me – will want to see everything it has to offer. Knights in the Nightmare is an awesome addition to the DS library. Editor’s Note: Knights in the Nightmare also comes packed in with a CD soundtrack for the game as well as a pre-order full-size art book. These extras were not taken into account for the review of the game itself, but do make for a great collection all at the standard game price. Keep it up Atlus. This is some great fan service for your loyal customers.

Cross Edge teaches us a very important lesson: there is a fine line between "depth" and "convolution." A game that could have been an entertaining compilation of iconic Japanese characters turned out to be a frustrating, awkward mess of menus, gameplay imbalances and annoying dialogue scenes. As appealing as this game may first appear to JRPG fans, I simply can't recommend it.

The future isn't set. That means you still have time to cancel your preorder of Terminator Salvation. A harsh statement, certainly, but considering the latest in the man vs. machine saga can easily be completed in four hours, it's an accurate one. While Terminator Salvation has some good ideas and is fun at times, it lacks any replayability. And more importantly, it lacks the star of the film, which is a rather curious omission. Fans of the Terminator series or Achievements/Trophies should definitely rent this one, but it by no means merits a $60 purchase.

If you're a fan of fast paced action, don't look here – Helldorado is much closer to an involved chess match where your players have to make specific moves to avoid being eliminated. With a heavy focus on stealth and strategy, but mired in trial and error that takes hours to gain any particular progress, Helldorado is only for the hardcore strategy fan that has a massive reservoir or patience. For others, this is a game that you may want to pass over for an easier tactical experience.

Zenonia is a real achievement -- it totally blows away all other action-RPGs on the App Store. While I was constantly reminded of my favorite adventures of yesteryear on the Genesis and Super NES while playing Zenonia, the game also introduces some fresh concepts to the genre like the day-night system and the great skill tree for customizing the hero. The game is epic -- a real value for your money. Right now, it is priced at $5.99, which is a tremendous bargain for how much game is packed into Gamevil's download. This is truly one of the best games for the iPhone thus far and I heartily recommend Zenonia for both retrogamers and adventure fans.

There's no reason for you to play Damnation. It fails at being a worthwhile title on all fronts. The gameplay isn't fun, the levels are too long, the sound is bad, and the story isn't interesting. There are more problems, but I'll leave my written flogging at that. Avoid this game at all costs.

If you've never played a Guilty Gear game before, or you've just recently started dabbling in fighting games altogether, I suggest buying this one -- assuming you have a Classic Controller. Accent Core Plus is the most robust representative of the franchise and sports the same hyper-stylish, fun gameplay that series veterans can attest to. It even comes with the soundtrack! On the other hand, if you own a few of the other Guilty Gears, this one might not be worth it. I'm pleased with the additions, but I'd be more happy to see the franchise (and developer) move on. And as stated numerous times before, playing with the default Remote/nunchuck combo just doesn't cut it. You need to invest in the better gear.

Rock Band Unplugged is a blast and I highly recommend it to people looking to jam on the go, but you do need to examine the cost/benefit side of things. Yes, the gameplay is amazing and a ton of fun, but this is well-worn territory of fans for the franchise. If playing World Tour gigs and hitting up Band Survival Mode every now and again is good enough for you -- and it is for me -- great. However, without any multiplayer you lose the true incentive to download new music and to keep this game forever and ever. Again, the game is impressive, but it falls a bit short of the bar the franchise has set in the past.

Neopets Puzzle Adventure is a suitable puzzle game for younger players. There is a large existing Neopets audience, and Capcom has put in the effort to make a fun and good-looking game that should appeal to those fans. Gamers that have passed puberty and enjoyed Puzzle Quest will likely find Neopets to be a little shallow, though. But you could do a lot worse than 150+ matches of Othello with a twist.

Guitar Hero: Metallica is a great music game, one that has a track list that almost seems like it was written expressly for the purpose of this title. A lot of care was put into the production to ensure that it is both true to the band and its music, while also offering fans cool insight into the group's on-goings. It certainly doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it's been a while since I've had this much fun with a music game. The only thing keeping me from scoring it higher is the fact that it doesn't support most of the Guitar Hero DLC. Other than that, it's a great experience that Metallica fans should run out and get.

It's been an incredibly long time since Nathan Spencer swung onto a console, and for the most part, his return is a solid one. Bionic Commando provides an updated adventure for the classic hero, sending him as a one man army against daunting odds to save the world once again. If you can look past the replayability issues that crop up due to the linear play, you'll find an enjoyable adventure that easily re-establishes the franchise for Capcom. You've been out of duty for way too long, Spencer – Hopefully you'll come back sooner than later.

XNA developers need to be careful what they wish for. When making the leap from XNA to XBLA, there are two possible reactions gamers might have: "Wow, this looks great for an XNA-developed game!" or "Wow, this looks like an XNA-developed game." Your reaction to Blazing Birds will likely be the latter. If there was some really compelling gameplay here the visuals would be easier to overlook, but this is a pretty simple badminton game with power-ups added. The lack of online play is also disappointing. You'll have more fun slapping your own 'cock around.
