OutRun is just as much fun as it was when released more than two decades ago, though the gameplay fundamentals haven't changed much and the series is still in need of a bonafide relaunch. That said, I still love OutRun. I'll never get sick of Heart Attack mode. Partially because it offers a great challenge, but also because it's the only time in my life that I've ever satisfied a woman. If you're looking to waste a few hours drifting, OutRun's a great option.

I want to stress that, while I didn't connect with Flock, I think it will find an audience. If you happen to be immune to the aggravation of trying to guide these animals to your goal, there is a lot to like about the game. The single-player and co-op campaigns each have their own levels, the game has personality, and user-generated content will keep you playing as long as you want. But I don't want to wrestle with a game -- I want to control it. Flock is designed to not be smooth or elegant, and the herky jerky mechanics of guiding animals/stopping to pick up stragglers/guiding animals/stopping to pick up stragglers doesn't make me want to follow the herd.

For $30, Samurai Shodown is packing quite a lot of classic 2D fighting into one package, which I always appreciate. But the super fuzzy sprites just don't look as nice anymore, especially in Samurai Shodown VI when they sit on the title's surprisingly slick backgrounds. Then again, hardcore fighting game fans rarely commit to the experience because of the graphics -- it's all about gameplay. This anthology has the classic gameplay some of you will recognize and that in itself is the game's main selling point. Everyone else will feel very overwhelmed upon booting up the game. But at least we can all take solace in Iroha's ridiculous charm. The Wii version supports all the control options you'd want, including the Classic Controller, which is the only way to go. It also has an exclusive motion-controlled mini-game where you catch falling items as one of the franchise pets, like Poppy and Pak Pak. So even though there are a few Samurai Shodowns on the Virtual Console, this is still the most robust, cost-effective option.

Ski-Doo Snowmobile Challenge is a reasonable racing game, but it doesn't pack a whole lot of excitement in with the disc and manual. If you're really into snowmobile arcadey racers, you may find a fair bit to like here. Otherwise, there are a number of other and better "extreme" racers to choose from.

I don't know how I'm going to score a game until I sit down and write the review. After reading the paragraphs preceding this one, it's clear I did not like Wheelman. When Vin Diesel is attached to a project -- whether it be a movie or game -- you expect to have to suspend your disbelief and settle in for some unbelievable shenanigans. Sadly, Wheelman pushes those ideas too far past the point of no return. Sure, the occasional hip check from a sedan is cool, but there's no story to keep you going (Why would the gangs put up with his crap?), the combat is a chore (Oh, another swarm of bad guys to block my path? Fun.), and the game doesn't look that good (Cars are just generic boxes.). I wanted Wheelman to be a guilty pleasure, like 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, but it's just guilty of being a poor game.

Gravity has the right stuff to be a sleeper puzzle game, but it stumbles a bit with a design that's a little rough around the edges. It feels too light on content for its pricetag, at least on Wii. The design seems better suited for the DS platform's pick-up-and-play experience, but the technology isn't quite up to the game's potential.

Even if you're a young girl that adores Hannah Montana, or you're a parent looking for a good gift, do not purchase Hannah Montana: The Movie. It's a cheap, awkward, embarrassing attempt to cash in on the hype of the movie without adhering to any of the standards of modern rhythm/music games.

I expected to be underwhelmed by Star Force, going in, but this is one of those rare and unexpected surprise games that actually turned out to be more enjoyable than first guess would suggest. It's still not an amazing game, or even really one you'd call solidly good, as its simplicity, repetitive level design and too-tough level of challenge will probably turn off a lot of players. But if you don't reach for the power switch after just the first few minutes, and try to get into the relative unfairness of the no-power-ups design, you too might walk away with more of a grin than you'd thought you would. Star Force isn't the worst way to spend five bucks on the VCA.

As a game critic, I want to encourage developers to try new ideas. On the other hand, I also have to point out when those ideas don't exactly work. Away has an interesting premise, nice visuals, great audio, and an original take on an established genre. That original take isn't strong enough to carry the player throughout the entire game, though, and eventually the gimmick wears thin. Rather than being excited about the next dungeon, you may find yourself thinking, "Do I have to?" Still, I bet more than a few gamers out there will be won over by Away's high production values and charm.

Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is by no means a revolution, either for the series or the stealth genre, and if you've played any of the previous titles, you will already have accurate expectations of this PSP sequel. But despite some issues with regard to character control, and the fact that some series staples like lots of rooftop exploration are oddly missing from the PSP effort, the end product is still fun. The 10-plus- hour game is full of thrills and strategy, not to mention satisfying assassination sequences, and you can keep playing long after you've completed the main mission, either attempting to better your level scores or exploring the dozens of quick, relatively easy side missions designed to extend replay value. The PSP version of Shadow Assassins has scored lower than its nearly- identical Wii predecessor -- content-wise, the two are the same -- for a couple of reasons. First, it obviously doesn't look quite as good as the big-screen version, running in 480p. Second, there are newfound load times before, between and after levels that really break the momentum. And third, you lose something when you go from the gesture-based controls to the analog stick, particularly where duel mode is concerned. Still, though, Tenchu is a fun PSP effort so long as you think of it as an all-new take on the franchise. The levels you play through are self- contained puzzles and not wide-open ninja-filled action-fests. If you prefer stealth to pure swordplay, you'll surely appreciate this approach.

The Godfather II places an interesting spin on the second film in the acclaimed series, adding emphasis on both strategy and action elements to give you a sense of what it's like to create and control your own empire. Multiplayer also puts a creative spin on using your henchmen to gain money and even items for your soldiers. However, players of action or strategy games of any variety will blow through this title thanks to the lack of difficulty in the single player campaign, and probably will only turn to the multiplayer once they've beaten the game, since they won't need to increase their henchmen's skills. It's still fun and has almost all of the elements of a great game, but until a harder difficulty level is added (which, fingers crossed, would occur with a future download or patch), The Godfather II falls a tad bit short.
