Should any of the criticism I've launched keep you from playing X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- Uncaged Edition? No, this is an awesome guilty pleasure. Usually, I'll sit down to review a repetitive game that's filled with the same attacks and just tear it apart because the repetition sucks the fun out of the experience. X-Men Origins has repetition in spades, but it's the kind of repetition Wolverine/action game fans are going to love; I mean, can you get sick of literally slicing someone in two and watching the blood explode across the screen? Can you get sick of hoisting a bad guy in the air and savagely stabbing him in the gut over and over again? Can you get sick of watching Wolverine get beaten down to his adamantium skeleton only to sit there and marvel as his muscle and skin grown back in real time? I can't. The story is convoluted, the bosses are boring and the whole experience isn't that deep, but this game sure is fun.

In the end, Nobunaga's Ambition is an ambitious design itself -- and your likelihood of enjoying it depends almost entirely on how patient you can be. This is a game that in no way rewards fast action or a kick-down-the-door offense -- you have to be slow and deliberate to make any progress at all, even on the easiest difficulty setting. If that sounds like something you can handle, and if you've enjoyed other Koei games like Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV here on the Virtual Console, then slap down those eight bucks and get ready for hours upon hours worth of managing food rations, setting tax rates and going on the march to victory. But if you don't consider yourself that hardcore of a strategy gamer, don't even consider spending your Wii Points here.

Neko Entertainment's first Cocoto game for WiiWare was a disappointment, as flawed motion controls marred what could have been an enjoyable fishing design for Nintendo's download service. The character's other outings on the Big N's current console have fared better, though, and while none of them have been either extraordinary or particularly novel they've at least found a place with the budget-minded Wii audience. Cocoto Platform Jumper clocks in a similar experience, as a design that can't be considered all that great thanks to its limited scope and somewhat stiff controls, but is still fairly fun for what it is. At an asking price of 700 Wii Points, I could see where fans of the character, and fans of character-based platformers in general, could find a decent amount of enjoyment here.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 seems like it barely takes a step forward past its predecessor. In some cases, it even takes a step back. If you're a hardcore fan of both the Dynasty Warriors brand and the Gundam universe, you'll undoubtedly purchase a copy even without my blessing, but I beg you to reconsider. Sure, there's nothing "wrong" with the game as far as I can tell -- it still runs fine and there's plenty to do. But it's the same gameplay as the past five KOEI games I've reviewed. It's just not worth buying again.

Despite my problems with the game, N+ is still an enjoyable PSP title with a ton of levels and a healthy number of options. The real beauty of the game comes from its pick-up-and-play nature (X is jump -- that's all you need to know) mixed with its price: $19.99. Hundreds of levels for about twenty bucks sounds like a fine deal to me, so I recommend N+ to PSP owners looking for some basic platforming action. Even though I didn't like it as much as other gamers out there, the abundance of content and highly diverse level design make N+ an appetizing offer for anyone looking for gold. After all, this is a good game for on-the-go play sessions.

Think on this for a moment: Assassin's Creed is an enhanced version of a $30 Nintendo DS game for only $10. For $10, you are getting around six hours of game. That is the very definition of value and a huge reason why I am bullish on the game. Set aside the fact that the game looks amazing and is accompanied by an excellent soundtrack. This is a console game for your iPhone that sacrifices very little. The controls may not be to every gamer's liking, but I was very comfortable with the virtual stick and suffered only a few instances of slipping off a rooftop or beam. Assassin's Creed set a new bar for the kind of hardcore/traditional games the iPhone can host. I cannot wait to see what tops it.

It's so blurry and it stutters so frequently, I can easily say it's the worst version of the three -- even if it has the same content as its current-gen counterparts.

The core Crystal Defenders series is a blast, but with that being said it’s hard to recommend the Wii version to anyone but complete newcomers of the series, and those that don’t have an Xbox 360 or iPhone to use instead. The game only includes 13 levels, is simpler than the iPhone (and original Japanese cell phone) inspiration, and has about as many units and special attacks as world one of the three-world package that’s available on Microsoft’s system or iPhone/iPod Touch. 800 for what’s basically tutorial and a couple levels is a bit much, and if R2 is another 800 point purchase – which it seems to be – that could potentially be $16 for two slightly smaller cross-sections of a $7.99 game on a cell phone. It doesn’t make use of Wii’s controls, it’s a shorter experience overall, and while still very fun inherently, this is a far worse deal than anyone else is getting across any other system thus far. It may not be a cell phone port like on 360, but it’s actually far less content than one. The music, graphics, and core design are all taken from the source material, but are still very strong for a download offering. What isn’t there, however, is the core bulk of the experience. Here’s hoping R2 is offered as a free download, as R1 is really just a simpler reimagining of the first third of the original Crystal Defenders, and costs just as much as the full game’s $7.99 price point on iPhone/iPod Touch.

Nintendo announces the arrival of the Commodore 64 on the Virtual Console -- and then drops support for the system after four games. Nintendo then announces the debut of the Virtual Console Arcade -- and, again, drops support for that after four games. I'm sure we'll eventually see more releases for both of those VC categories eventually, but the timing of Nintendo's Console releases has been broken for far too long. You can't hype up new systems and make surprise launches and then not follow-up. It's ridiculous. It wouldn't be so bad if the games we were getting in the meanwhile were worthwhile, but, really, more repetitive Wonder Boy? A game that's already been released before, in a better version, and that's the only new game this week? And its price has even been inflated? Nintendo, seriously. You've really lost the faith of nearly everyone who originally supported the Virtual Console at this point. You've got to get it together and start giving the people what they want -- and what they want is not more Wonder Boy.

So, to me, Bomberman '94's arrival on the Virtual Console might just be a case of a missed window of opportunity. It's still a great game, it's just unfortunate that it took this long to arrive -- it could have had a much bigger impact if it released a year or two earlier. As it is, the people who want to play Bomberman on their Wii have probably already settled for the '93 edition, or invested in Blast on WiiWare. In fact, I'd still recommend Blast even though this one's now available -- '94 here has a superior single player mode, but if you're playing Bomberman for its single player then you've got no business playing Bomberman to begin with. It took too long for you to get this one out the door, Hudson -- 28 months was way too long a wait. Grab a Speed Up for your VC publishing schedule next time around, and you may have better sales to show for it.

Up and down, left and right, waggle and stop. You just beat Major Minor's Majestic March. The story and presentation are well drawn, but poorly executed. On the other hand the controls are wonderfully precise -- they're just not that fun. Everything works in Major Minor which is commendable, but the overall sum of its parts is less than stellar. Fans awaiting some form of successor to PaRappa and Lammy will have to keep waiting.
