We're surprised to see that Rapala is again making strides in the right direction, but there's still a long way to go if the franchise is going to reach its former glory on previous consoles. As far as Wii fishing games go, Fishing Frenzy blends some fun motion-based casting and fish battles with a still-simplistic core, so while you'll have fun hooking and landing some lunkers this time around, it still isn't strong enough to warrant a purchase. There are still just a few dozen lures and fish, only seven locales, and only a short tournament and challenge mode to keep you busy. Visuals are still extremely bland and PS2-like, there are load times just to get to the title screen and then game interface after that, and the menus loaded aren't worth the time it took to get to them, with bland icons sitting on top of flat colors and bland white text for everything. If Activision is looking to make Fishing Frenzy a true kid's title, we're down for that , as it'd give it a unique style, but the company should focus less on useless controller shells and magazine giveaways, and focus more on making a coherent design for the title to follow. Right now it's a mix of assets and styles that - while fun at times - is in a serious identity crisis.

Buzz! Quiz TV is a great game. Sure, I would like voice chat patched in immediately, the ability to organize user-created quizzes in game, and there has to be a way to let me and an in-house friend play in the same online match, but that doesn't overshadow everything this game has done right. The wireless buzzers feel great and seem to have a good battery life, Trophies are always awesome, the game looks great, load times are minimal, the menus are a breeze to navigate, Sofa v. Sofa is a great idea, downloadable quiz packs being supported right out of the gate is sweet, and MyBuzz! literally offers you the avenue to find or create a quiz about anything you could imagine. If you're a trivia junkie like myself, it doesn't get any better -- no matter what videogame system we're talking about -- than Buzz! Quiz TV.

It's still a mystery why it's taken this long for Vectorman to finally arrive on the American Virtual Console, especially when you consider it's been available for download in both the Japan and European territories since early last year. It had been so long since we'd heard anything about the status of this title, too, that we were already scheduling it to take a spot in an upcoming "Most Wanted/Where Are These Games Already?" list of potential VC releases. But now that Vectorman's officially on sale in the American Wii Shop, we can call off the search and rescue team and simply leave you with a firm recommendation -- it's a classic action title that's well worth an investment of 800 Wii Points. Let's just hope it's not another year and a half before we get V ectorman 2.

Mega Man 9 is exactly what hardcore gamers were hoping it would be, as Capcom has come out of the gate with a game that's full of nostalgia and fan service, but also one that truly does rival the best in the franchise's 8-bit roots. If you look at this game as a time warp into the NES era, it's one of the top titles out there, as it's hard as hell, somehow fresh in design (even though there have been well over 100 Mega Man games in 15 years), and simply a blast to rip through. If you weigh this one against other download titles out there though, the game will of course fall short in the graphical department (maybe the only game out there where a low graphics score is a compliment? ), the lack of innovation overall, or a lot of the modes or options you'd expect to get for your money. With that being said, Capcom did go the extra mile with online rankings, downloadable content, and a few extra areas to check out (time trials could last players a long, long time), and it makes Mega Man 9 a no-brainer download if you've got $10 to spare across any console.

Dominoes is a social game and not even Xbox Vision Camera support can bring the same feel as playing the game in person. Dominoes isn't about the game at all, it never was and never will be. It's about the social interaction. That's something that doesn't translate well online. But, more importantly, this game isn't worth $10. It's probably not even worth $5. More variations of dominoes would have helped quite a bit.

I'm really dig Buzz! Master Quiz. It might just be that I'm one of those people who has a trivia itch and likes the idea of having a bunch of quizzes in my bag for those airport layovers and carpools to work, but I think that the UMD successfully captures the challenging questions and interesting quiz types that the franchise is known for while tossing in a multiplayer system that works for the portable platform as well as a single-player mode that I'm actually compelled to go back and play as long as new questions keep popping up. It's by no means perfect -- it can be a visual bore; you will see repeat questions; the multiplayer doesn't give off that party vibe; and if meaningless trophies aren't your thing, you might not like single-player like I did -- but trivia fans who find themselves constantly on the go or at least ready for some portable action every now and again should pick this one up.

Mega Man 7 is indeed one of the weaker entries in the original series. The come down from the first three games -- which still feel fresh and exciting -- is palpable, even though Mega Man 7 tries to inject the game with a handful of new features. Some work, like the addition of Auto's shop and the new items. Some don't, like the decision to limit the number of robot masters at the beginning of the game. It's still worth a play to see the 16-bit jump, but expectations should be appropriately curtailed.

Force Unleashed makes up for some of its visuals with certain elements that end up looking really nice (Felucia on the whole is a pretty colorful, vibrant area), but it really comes down to the lack of detail in visuals and in presentation -- camera and AI - working in tandem. It can be a blast to play, and using the nunchuk and Wii-mote for force powers is unrivaled when compared to any other control scheme, but the gameplay isn't strong enough on its own to make up for the overall rushed feeling in the game. LucasArts and Krome tried to make the experience unique on every platform by adding in the duel mode on Wii, and while it’s a nice touch, we can't help but think of how the PSP version (again, also made by Krome) was privy to not only a vs. mode of its own, but an additional challenge and survival mode as well. Whether you're looking at the lack of modes, the clunky presentation, or the PS2-like visuals, there's just so much in Force Unleashed that you wish was better, but ultimately ends up being just passable. The combat is great, the game is extremely entertaining at times (if you're a Star Wars fan, you'd do well to pick it up, or at least rent it), but it's never truly great in any stretch of the imagination. We look forward to what Krome and LucasArts could do with future Wii titles, especially considering the awesome potential of Wii MotionPlus, but as far as Force Unleashed is concerned, the game is a fun but flawed action game, and nothing more. If you're looking for this type of game on Wii, give it a rental. If you're a big Star Wars fan, you'll enjoy it. If you want a polished, well-rounded effort overall, you won't find it here.

Drawn to Life: Spongebob Squarepants Edition is clearly THQ's attempt at making the Drawn to Life concept more marketable and sellable to the consumers and retailers. Whether it's out of respect for the original team or because it's a better game, I'd rather play the original Drawn to Life over this cash-in. But hey, even I can see that the Spongebob Edition isn't a bad kid-focused title -- it's built off a great foundation.

I think de Blob is one of the best third-party efforts to come over to Wii in a long time. This is a fun, stylized 3D platformer that oozes atmosphere and shines with amazingly slick presentation and polish. All of the gameplay mechanics work very well, the challenges are enjoyable and there's even good comedy peppered between the stages comprising the adequate 10-hour-plus experience. Meanwhile, if you want something to come back for, there are a variety of secondary sub-challenges and the spit-screen multiplayer mode, which enables you to compete in paint-off contests with a few friends, isn't half bad, although I would much rather play a notably absent online component. I have only a couple of genuine complaints, the biggest of which is that there aren't more of those ultra-entertaining head-scratchers -- the puzzles that require you to think about how to color certain multi- tiered objects. And that the Wii remote isn't better utilized. No pointer functionality in-levels is a disappointment. Utilizing gestures primarily for jumps doesn't feel broken or bad, just unnecessary. There's a well made, fun, unique, gorgeous platformer to be found here. If you're a Wii fan, I strongly recommend that you support this caliber of third-party effort so that we can see more games like this. Specifically, a sequel that addresses the few concerns that I've mentioned, adds Wii MotionPlus functionality and an online mode, and takes THQ's blobby hero to the next level.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed for DS is a fun, straightforward action game with a unique and enjoyable control scheme. It also looks pretty good, even if there are some slowdown and camera problems along the way. So if you're a Star Wars nut who doesn't own any of the home consoles, you might want to check out the portable version. You will certainly get all the basics and you may just like the surprisingly fun control configuration. But if you have access to the PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii versions of the game, I don't think you will find the DS iteration complementary, for it adds little and loses much in regard to presentation and depth. I think n-Space is onto something with the title, but I would like to see even more polish to the engine and camera system and a touch-interface that fully supported play sans stylus in any possible sequels.

If you played the original Yggdra Union and are looking for an upgrade, Yggdra Union for the PSP works well and looks cleaner, though most of the content is the same. Yggdra Union newbies will find a very technical, very specific experience here and for the most part I recommend it to the hardcore strategy RPG audience (though it has its fair share of problems to consider). And remember: justice does in fact lie with the Holy Sword. Or does it?

Battle Fantasia is a decent distraction but can’t compete with the high profile fighters, both out now on Xbox 360 and on the way, in looks, depth, or feature set. The character design is about the only thing that sets this game apart from the pack. You’ll probably have some fun with this fighter for a few hours before relegating it to the shelf.

TNA iMPACT! on the Wii is the worst version of this game on the market. Sure, its graphics are a bit better than the ones found on the nearly identical PS2 version, but the Wiimote/nunchuk setup cripples a control scheme that's easy to get into on other systems and a throwback to the wrestling games of old. There's no CAW; the moves are limited and repetitive; there's no online; clipping issues abound; the game is not that pretty; and above all, iMPACT! doesn't feel like real wrestling. The opponents never stay down long enough, they don't sell limb damage, there's an announce table and announcer voices (that are barely used) but no announcer bodies, there are no championship belts to wear or defend even though they're mentioned in the story, chairs are just sitting around the outside of the ring, there is no rope break, and every match is no count out/no DQ. TNA fans and Wii owners deserve better.

In the end, I think this is a really good game for casual gamers. I showed it to some non-gamer friends this weekend and they had a blast just playing on easy. I had to practically rip the remotes out of their hands to get them to stop. But here in the IGN office, fans of the original Samba pick up the remotes, crank up the difficulty, and find the controls to be almost unworkable. This monkey is still a charmer, but his Wii controls need refining.

Capcom's intention with the upcoming Mega Man 9 is to mirror what made Mega Man 2 such a success -- and to emphasize the point, they've positioned this Virtual Console release of the game as a lead- in to the new title's WiiWare debut. The company's marketing tactics are sound here, as there's no better way to get yourself ready for Mega Man's next great adventure than by experiencing his greatest past quest. Let's also hope that strong sales of this, the first Mega Man that came to the VC last month and Mega Man 9 all together will encourage Capcom to continue to support Nintendo's retro download service with more of the Blue Bomber's past adventures -- because even though Mega Man 2 is the pinnacle, there are still several other spectacular sequels we'd love to revisit in Virtual Console form.
