Apollo Justice surprised us. This may just be yet another of Capcom’s infamous rehashes, but it’s so much more enjoyable than most that it’s extremely hard to ignore. Going into playing this game expecting nothing but the same old-same old shtick, I was extremely excited when I realized that old and new could be melded so nicely. Capcom appeared to pay attention to their startling trend and tried to do something about it. The gameplay and static looks of Apollo Justice are just as we’ve seen them before, and the music will be both familiar and new, but Apollo Justice retains a lot of the charm Phoenix Wright held before it, and adds to the series' legacy. What's old is new again, and damn good, too.

When the game isn't being cheap, it's actually pretty fun. Unfortunately Red Baron Arcade is built on the die-until-you-get-lucky approach, which simply isn’t good design. The relatively enjoyable parts of the game are marred by cheap artificial intelligence. If the enemy AI wants you dead, you're dead. There's little you can do to avoid death. Red Baron Arcade is like the "Final Destination" of videogames. The only people who should look into this game are diehard dogfight fans who don't mind some major flaws. The rest of us should prep our parachutes.

FIFA Street 3 seems to be steering the series in the right direction as it’s an improvement over the first two installments. Still, it’s lacking in a few key areas and that’s what keeps it from attaining the glory that other Street games have been able to find. Add a finely crafted career mode and even more depth to the gameplay and more football fans will take notice, but as it stands Street 3 probably doesn’t deserve a spot in your lineup.

In the end, Phantasy Star II is an impressive example of classic old-school role-playing. Its most notable positive traits are its unique setting and theme – especially since it's the first and only Phantasy Star game to come to the Virtual Console so far – and its epic overall length. You'll get a lot of lasting value for your investment of 800 Wii Points, as this quest could take you 40 hours or more to complete. The negatives that might keep you from cashing in the eight bucks right away, though, would be the considerable level of challenge and the potential for tedium. Only buy Phantasy Star II if you know you'll be prepared to spend a significant amount of time taking care of old-school RPG "chores" like level-grinding – because without that willingness, your experience in going after the Mother Brain might not last very long.

Dungeon Explorer: Warriors of Ancient Arts isn't a broken game, it's just boring and unoriginal. However, the thorough character stats and the wealth of dungeons to plunder make this title a little more than just tolerable. I'm hesitant to recommend this to anyone, but if you're hardcore about dungeon crawling and you want a portable game to pass the time, I suppose this might float your boat. After all, it does have a charming blue-skinned elf girl with glasses. It's tough to say no to that, right?

Forget the fact that this game isn't very educational outside of the fossils mode. The real problem is it's shallow and boring. The idea of swimming around the deep as different prehistoric aquatic creatures sounds appealing, but doing nothing but swimming and eating in confusing, ugly environments gets old fast.

We brought you a review of Myth Makers: Super Kart GP for the Wii just yesterday – it's another racer recently developed by the same team at Data Design Interactive. And the two games have a lot in common, thanks to the developer's tendency to recycle elements and engines between products. The menu is the same, the controls are the same. The issues with the camera and having trouble turning around after collisions on the track are the same. But Rig Racer 2 is ultimately even less worth your while than Myth Makers – that game at least has some fairly likeable characters and a four-player mode. Rig Racer has lifeless, generic trucks and a maximum multiplayer potential of 2. It can be entertaining for a few minutes to command these rigs and watch them run into one another head-on, but Rig Racer 2 is certainly nowhere near worth your money for a full purchase. Give it a rental at best, and then go back to the other, far better racers available on Wii.

So, in the end, we're made to wonder just what the point was. Arctic Tale is slow-paced and mostly boring, which is likely in keeping with its roots as a documentary film, but doesn't work at all in the form of a game. You've got to take some more creative license when you've got this kind of license. As it stands, you'd be better off just watching the film and being done with it. Or, since even the Arctic Tale film has been getting mixed reviews, just avoiding the brand altogether.

Audiosurf is one of those games that offers something for everyone. You can cruise through a neon-future version of your favorite songs at a leisurely pace in freeride or low difficulty puzzle modes, or play as a hardcore gamer might, repeating tracks obsessively with the aim of conquering the leaderboards. A better fusion of casual and hardcore gameplay styles would be difficult to come by, particularly one with such boundless source material. The game is yours to manipulate as it readily acquiesces to your mood, making it worth playing on nearly any occasion, for any reason, for any person.

There is a reason Luxor is on its second sequel over at Mumbo Jumbo's website. This is a proven gameplay formula and Luxor tweaks it just barely enough to stand on its own. The problem here is that the DS version offers less value than the cheaper, downloadable originals. If you're a fan of puzzle games, you'll enjoy this challenge for the fleeting moments it lasts. But the DS market is too crowded for developers to be phoning in these ports.

Myth Makers: Super Kart GP is one of the dozen different budget games recently published by quantity-over-quality- focused Conspiracy Entertainment. And, expectedly, it's a pretty bad and forgettable product overall. But while its glitchy, frustrating gameplay restricts it from ever really offering much fun, there is some redeeming value in certain bits and pieces of its presentation. Its characters and settings are likeable, and it's conceivable that they could star someday in a better, more polished and less broken version of this design. You certainly wouldn't want to consider buying this game, even at its budget-tagged pricepoint – but it could offer you an afternoon's worth of diversion as a rental, if you're a diehard Mario Kart fan trying to pass the time between now and the upcoming release of Mario Kart Wii.

Dragon Quest Swords isn’t your average RPG experience, and as such certain gamers might be thrown off by what Square Enix has done with Wii’s first outing. If you’re looking for a hardcore, 50+ hour experience, this isn’t it. What DQ Swords brings to the table, however, is an extremely accessible role playing experience that works to capture new gamers in the world of Dragon Quest. The combat is fast and action-packed, the actual RPG elements are much lighter than anything we’ve seen from Square in years (maybe ever), and the storyline is simple and accessible for any age. Even the level-building and party management is totally streamlined, as all AI is handled on the fly. There’s a definite wish list of changes we would have liked to see though, as the Wii-mote only controls aren’t extremely comfortable, and the adventure is over before you know it. As a product that ends up being “Dragon Quest Lite” though, Swords is still pretty entertaining while it lasts.

Those looking for a simple turn-based strategy game could do a lot worse than Commanders: Attack of the Genos. The game is a fun distraction as a single player game and a good amount of fun when playing online. For casual gamers or those looking for some relaxed strategy gaming in between more intense affairs, Commanders is worth a look.
