In the end though, Indy 500 Legends is still constrained on DS as it was on Wii, as its historic roots make it true-to-form, but thin on overall fun. If you’re a previous Indianapolis 500 racing fan, you’ll have fun with the game, as you get to race as legends, relive actual moments in racing history, and drive cars inspired from that era. Since it’s all tethered to specific years, however, the single player mode will have all racers and ride predetermined, with no vehicle tweaking or customization to be had. On the audio/visual side, Indy 500 DS has a very similar look (using the same single Indy 500 track, redesigned for each era), but doesn’t have the authentic audio experience that the Wii version did, with actual recorded car audio from the historic Indianapolis 500 museum. All full video intros and VO, however, were included.
