Kao the Kangaroo is a well-meaning game, and despite some missteps, it is in my opinion one of the better 3D platformers of modern gaming. Heck, I’ll go as far as to say that I enjoyed Kao far more than I did the recent Crash 4, which was an incredible disappointment to me. For what Tate Multimedia is charging for this game, I say Kao the Kangaroo is easily worth buying for any 3D platforming enthusiast.

Contrat rempli pour Tate Multimedia, qui avec Kao the Kangaroo modernise un héros du début des années 2000 en surfant sur une recette que les amoureux du genre platformer 3D connaissent par coeur. Au croisement d’un Crash Bandicoot et d’un Spyro the Dragon, le titre du studio polonais propose une très belle aventure cartoon qui sent bon la madeleine de Proust, avec une aventure agréable, accessible et sans prise de tête. Seulement, Kao the Kangaroo ne va pas beaucoup plus loin que ça, et en insistant sur l’hommage et en souffrant de quelques problèmes de finition, le jeu ne parvient pas à proposer des éléments marquants bien à lui qui le rendraient incontournable.

Tanti colpi sotto la cintura per Kao the Kangaroo che non gli hanno comunque valso una completa squalifica. Rilanciare l’IP è stata una pensata niente male, però il ritorno non ha visto il giovane canguro privo di lividi. Graficamente è eccellente e le meccaniche platform funzionano egregiamente. Purtroppo sono tutti gli altri elementi che non ci hanno pienamente convinto: difficoltà generale, e poche implementazioni del personaggio e del combat system. Per non parlare dei diversi bug che abbiamo riscontrato durante la nostra avventura. Nonostante tutto ci siamo divertiti con Kao the Kangaroo, ma siamo convinti che poteva fare sicuramente di più, avendo degli spunti molto interessanti. Il titolo è venduto al prezzo budget di 29,99 € e arriverà molto presto anche da GameStop in versione scatolata (scopritelo a questo indirizzo). Siamo convinti che chi cerca un platform (magari da far giocare anche ai più piccini) allora Kao the Kangaroo potrebbe essere una scelta da considerare.

He vuelto a la infancia mientras jugaba a este nuevo Kao The Kangaroo. Sólo por eso ya he disfrutado al máximo el título. También es cierto que me apasionan los plataformas en 3D, por lo que más propuestas son siempre bien recibidas. ¿Innova el juego o hace algo muy diferente? No, pero tiene encanto, es entretenido y muy sólido. No siempre tenemos que llevarnos una gran sorpresa o estar ante la nueva innovación del género. A veces, sólo queremos pasar un buen rato, volver a la infancia o dejar que las nuevas generaciones se aproximen en este maravilloso género. ¿Podría ser mejor? Desde luego. Se podría haber hecho mucho más con el combate, con los jefes finales o con la mecánica de los guantes. Técnicamente también tiene algunos problemillas, pero sigue teniendo mucho encanto. ¿Se nos va a quedar en el recuerdo? Ni por asomo, pero vaya si no nos lo vamos a pasar en grande durante unas cuantas horas. Tate Multimedia tiene entre manos una fórmula muy buena que tienen que pulir para causar un mayor impacto. Por ahora, Kao The Kangaroo ha aguantado muy bien el primer asalto en el combate del reboot, y hay ganas de que regrese en un segundo asalto. Al fin y al cabo, ¿cuántos canguros boxeadores adorables existen? Están en peligro de extinción y se merecen todo el amor posible
