In poco più di 3 GB, Falcom ha condensato un gioco di ruolo d'azione immortale, che ha trasceso il tempo ed è passato (quasi) indenne attraverso innumerevoli generazioni di console: Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana non sarà sicuramente l'acquisto dell'anno per tutte le nuove leve di giocatori che magari hanno iniziato la loro carriera videoludica con Switch, ma rimane un doveroso omaggio ad un franchise storico. Il rapporto tra l'offerta ludica, le migliorie apportate ed il prezzo di lancio è buono (sebbene non eccezionale) e la straordinaria immediatezza del prodotto lo rende adatto a larghe fasce di pubblico, purché non ci si aspettino grafica scintillante ed un enorme mondo aperto da esplorare. Chi ha una storia videoludica che supera almeno le due decadi, qui troverà pane per i propri denti, ma anche i neofiti della saga possono apprezzare la piccola lezione di storia che i maestri di Falcom dedicano ad Adol Christin.

Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana peut paraître hors du temps selon l’approche que l’on en aura, mais de mon point de vue, ce bol d’air fait un bien fou avant d’entrer dans le premier gros rush de 2025. Son aventure, alliant simplicité et efficacité, fonctionne à merveille durant les quelques heures nécessaires pour en voir le bout. Plus proche du remaster ++ qu’autre chose, on retrouve les points forts, mais aussi les faiblesses d’un titre qui approche des 15 ans dans sa version revisitée PSP mine de rien. Disponible à petit prix, Ys Memoire The Oath in Felghana nous offre la possibilité de vivre une des toutes premières péripéties d’Adol dans de bonnes conditions. Que demander de plus ?

Empezar el año jugando a un Ys siempre es bien, jugar a Ys Memorie: The Oath in Felghana y rememorar una de las aventuras preferidas de los fans es MUY bien, pero como ya comenté en el análisis de Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, los juegos clásicos vienen con ese pan duro bajo el brazo, en forma de mecánicas arcaicas que pueden echar para atrás a un polluelo que se quiere adentrar en el universo Ys. Como he citado pocas líneas arriba, es un port conservador donde las mejoras son pocas, quizás no muy relevantes, pero es que hay otras que directamente empeoran la experiencia jugable; por suerte son evitables y fácilmente identificables. No quiero ser injusto tampoco; en líneas generales es una adaptación que cumple con los mínimos necesarios para ser disfrutable y, si no tienes prejuicios y has venido a jugar, entonces vas a probar las mieles de uno de los mejores juegos de acción de principios de los 2000 y eso siempre será una muy buena noticia.

Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana is hardly a revolutionary RPG, but it stands as an excellent reminder that sometimes less is more. The brisk pacing, thrilling combat, and cutesy visuals all come together in a wonderfully enjoyable and simple action RPG. This is an experience that makes no compromises and holds nothing back, and even if it’s clearly less ambitious and expansive than many of the later entries in the series, there’s also something very satisfying about playing through a game where its reach did not exceed its grasp.

The Oath in Felghana stands strong as one the best Ys entries to date. Its sharp and compact game design makes just as strong of an impression with this Memoire release as it did when I first played it over a decade ago. Unfortunately, this rerelease does not bring much more to the table than a great game to new consoles. Its priorities when it comes to updating the game’s visuals are questionable at best, but thankfully far from fatal.

Sono davvero contento che nuovi giocatori possano riscoprire Ys MEMOIRE: The Oath in Felghana, che ritengo sia uno dei capitoli più importanti del franchise di Nihon Falcom. Ho apprezzato parecchio il lavoro di preservazione della compagnia, anche se credo che forse qualche miglioria aggiuntiva alla quality-of-life non sarebbe guastata. I nuovi artwork realizzati per l’occasione e la possibilità di scegliere tra diversi stili della colonna sonora, uniti alla ricchissima modalità Museo, rendono l’opera davvero accattivante per chi come me ama riscoprire il passato dei suoi giochi più amati. Certo, non nego che mi sarebbe piaciuto vedere una pulizia generale maggiore, e spero che la software house risolva il bug legato al comparto sonoro con delle patch. Nonostante ciò non posso che consigliare Ys MEMOIRE: The Oath in Felghana, non solo sarà divertente riscoprire quest’avventura di Adol ma il suo prezzo contenuto è davvero un vantaggio da non sottovalutare.

Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars – Reforged is a faithful, modern remaster of one of the all-time great adventure games. Adhering to the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, it’s much as fans of the original remember it, but it’s fantastic to have this cherished classic available in such a high-quality, updated format! With the sweeter-than-ever eye candy, ear candy, and, um, interface-modernization-playing candy added on top of the already terrific cast of eclectic characters and exceptional story of history, conspiracy, and intrigue, this is a guaranteed winning combination that avoids unnecessary over-tinkering. If George Stobbart and Nico Collard feel like old friends to you by now, this is a nice nostalgia trip through their first adventure (even if Nico is again relegated to a lesser role). If you’ve not had the pleasure of meeting these beloved characters before, this is the best way to enter their world, feeling fresh and modern and new. It’s a world that needs your help to save, and what could be more adventurous than that?

At its best, Lil’ Guardsman is utterly charming, creative, and a lot of fun, so it’s unfortunate that it gets bogged down by pacing issues that sometimes make it feel like a bit of a chore to play. On the flip side, it has a number of thigh-slapping comedic moments that were some of the most sublimely funny bits I've seen in a game in recent memory. Your mileage may vary, but the great parts ultimately make the experience worthwhile – I just wish more of the game reached that same outstanding level of quality.
