Dawn of Man è un ottimo strategico che ci insegna, in modo piuttosto realistico e simulativo, le difficoltà dei “primi uomini”. Gente impegnata esclusivamente nella pura sopravvivenza contro le avversità di Madre Natura. Un’autentica chicca per gli amanti del settore, ma valido anche per chi ne fosse a digiuno grazie al suo gameplay. Questi risulta equilibrato e non troppo punitivo offrendo, però, poche modalità e un comparto tecnico solo sufficiente.

ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove is a literal return-to-form for the series, and longtime fans should be happy about that. While it might not be a hardcore roguelike or fully integrate its more modern design choices, it does exactly what it sets out to do: give players a true sequel to the original Genesis classic. It’s hard to say how far this formula could have come in 28 years if the series hadn’t taken detours into other genres, but for now I’m just happy that it’s gone back to its roots.

Los fanáticos del juego original encontraran justamente eso, con una capita de pintura de cara a los nuevos tiempos. En lo técnico podría ser bastante más solvente, pero os satisfará si buscáis una aventura pausada.

Ape Out delivers a deliciously impactful take on the frenetic twin-stick formula. It uses the closeness of its melee encounters and excellent sound design to create an atmosphere of pure, unstoppable tempo. Its style is undeniable, and the craft on display is well worth the short time it takes to play through each of the game's four acts.

Ape Out is an absolutely fantastic action game with an incredible sense of style. While the levels are randomized, the near-constant introduction of new elements gives each area its own personality, forcing the player to regularly update their play style to avoid or take advantage of the latest changes. Each album can be played in standard progression with infinite chances to complete each track from the start or in Arcade mode, attempting to clear the whole album on a single life while racking up the best score possible, making for excellent replayability. The four albums’ worth of content (plus bonus EP) offer a huge amount of ape action, tossing guards around like blood-filled dodge balls in one new scenario after another and ending with a perfectly-themed final level. Combine that with its unique, iconic art style and amazing soundtrack and Ape Out is simply the coolest game with the hippest tunes 1959 can supply.
