Chucklefish could have easily won the adoration of many by simply trying to make a game that panders to the nostalgic Advance Wars crowd, but they've gone above and beyond to deliver a product that is surprisingly full-featured and absolutely brimming with content. Not only is Wargroove an accomplished turn based strategy title, its suite of creation tools also makes it an infinitely replayable one.

Unruly Heroes emprunte à Rayman, Trine, Guacamelee, mais plutôt qu'une somme de références qui le viderait de sa substance, les idées de ces titres qu'il fait siennes sont magnifiées grâce à un sens du rythme maîtrisé, un renouvellement de propositions de jeu constant, une direction artistique sublime et une aventure pleine d'humour. Comme sur petit un nuage. Magique.

Un platform game bello da vedere, vario nei contenuti e sufficientemente innovativo, con un tasso di sfida calibrato abbastanza bene, eccezion fatta per alcuni passaggi un po' frustranti che richiedono di memorizzare una serie di ostacoli. Alcune idee sarebbero dovute essere sfruttate meglio ma il gioco è comunque così ricco di trovate che neppure ci si bada. Una bella sorpresa che è meglio valorizzare affrontandola in multiplayer con gli amici.

C'è voluto un po' di tempo per averla, ma la versione Nintendo Switch di Downwell è probabilmente la migliore vista finora. Il gioco è lo stesso in ogni suo elemento, ma tra controlli, portabilità e modalità TATE la fruizione migliora ulteriormente sulla console Nintendo, cosa che potrebbe giustificare un ritorno sul titolo di Fumoto anche per i molti che probabilmente l'avranno già giocato altrove, dato anche il prezzo minimo. Downwell resta uno shooter estremamente godibile, in grado di reinterpretare il genere in maniera originale, recuperando gli elementi più classici dello sparatutto e inserendoli in un contesto fondamentalmente diverso, con uno sfruttamento della verticalità e della gravità come strumenti attivi del gameplay che ha pochi precedenti. Può essere difficile e frustrante, oppure sembrare troppo poco profondo nella sua struttura, ma se ci si dedica per qualche ora diventa facile entrare nel suo irresistibile meccanismo.

Despite housing a generous amount of content, the game’s core systems lack depth and variety, and whilst DayD: Through Time makes a few functional improvements when compared to Gnomes Garden, it still falls short due to its tedious loop. That said, if you’re a fan of this simplistic concept, DayD is certainly going to be serviceable. If, on the other hand, you prefer something robust and challenging, look elsewhere.
