Rise of the Ronin marries a cool historical setting, Team Ninja’s mastery of tough-but-fair combat, and some smart RPG design to make a game that is immediately compelling, and even more fun with friends. It’s full of cool little touches, whether it’s throwing something at an enemy with the grappling rope or dropping from your glider onto your horse. Unfortunately, it’s also a game full of map clutter, bloated systems, and a truly absurd amount of junk loot, and the time I spent clearing out everything that didn’t spark joy and dealing with all these non-essential systems made me pine for a leaner, meaner, more focused game. Rise of the Ronin is excellent when it has the courage to be itself and lean into its challenging, rewarding fighting; too often, however, it feels stuck in indecision, torn between what it wants to be and what it feels it’s expected to be, and not even the best samurai can overcome that.

Rise of the Ronin is a case where more isn't always better. It's got varied and challenging combat, a wealth of content, and a wide variety of mechanics in a story that spans over a decade. But while most of the individual components work, many feel unrefined, and their sheer volume doesn't elevate the experience.

Bien qu'il ne possède pas l'étoffe d'un indispensable sur Nintendo Switch, Princess Peach : Showtime ! est un titre à recommander aux plus jeunes grâce à la difficulté modulable et au message qu'il véhicule.

Rise of the Ronin è figlio della volontà del Team Ninja di evolvere la sua formula a base d'azione pura attraverso una struttura a mondo aperto: al cuore i grandi punti di forza sono rimasti gli stessi di sempre, ma il cambio di paradigma non ha portato i benefici sperati. Il sistema di combattimento è infatti un amalgama profondo, stratificato e accessibile che trasmette ottime sensazioni, per certi versi simili a quelle di un picchiaduro, ma la cornice in cui è collocato non riesce mai davvero a mettersi al suo servizio. La costruzione del mondo di gioco è classica, le attività sono molto semplici, il comparto grafico e l'esecuzione tecnica non sono assolutamente al passo coi tempi, mentre l'ambientazione storica è interessantissima, ma finisce per limitare scenografia e design estetico. Insomma, i combattimenti di Rise of the Ronin sono una goduria imperdibile per gli appassionati del genere, non stancano mai e sanno regalare grandi soddisfazioni, ma sono costretti a reggere sulle proprie spalle tutto il peso di un'opera che, in quasi tutte le altre componenti, rema nella direzione opposta.

Rise of the Ronin isn't a bad game; it's something debatably worse: completely forgettable. With dated open world design and a monotonous narrative, the cracking combat of a Team Ninja title is left to try and pick up the pieces. It manages to get the title in acceptable shape, and with its Bonds system and culture clash, just about forms an experience one could enjoy. Where it falls apart is the fact the open world is so intrinsically linked to all these features and mechanics that it's impossible to find pleasure in them for any respectable length of time. Rise of the Ronin is designed to attract a wider audience than Team Ninja titles past; what they find might put them off for good.

Si uno no tiene cuidado con una afilada katana, se arriesga a cortarse. Por suerte, Rise of the Ronin desenvaina de forma certera gracias a un combate sublime y a una historia muy atractiva para los amantes del Japón más samurái. Hay carencias importantes, pero Team Ninja realiza un corte mucho más preciso de lo imaginado con este ambicioso juego.

Princess Peach: Showtime! is more closely aligned with Kirby and Yoshi’s simple, cheery romps rather than Mario’s polished platformers and Luigi’s haunted mansions. There’s fun to be found in the Sparkle Theater, as these delightfully simplified takes on some of gaming’s most popular genres are entertaining to blast through, and the whimsical stage play aesthetic gives Peach’s game an identity all its own. I’m also thrilled that Nintendo is finally giving Peach another crack at her own solo outing after nearly two decades, and I hope this is the start of an ongoing spinoff series within the wider Mario universe. Some noticeable performance issues and the frustrating lack of a chapter select means I won’t be returning for an encore, and I wish there were a few extra levels to lengthen the somewhat brief campaign, but Nintendo and Princess Peach at least know how to put on a good show.

MLB The Show 24 si afferma come uno dei più eccellenti simulatori sportivi prodotti. Questa edizione è riconosciuta per il suo alto grado di autenticità e precisione. Attraverso una serie di dettagli minuziosi, sia visivi che tecnici, l’atto di battere, lanciare o catturare una palla da baseball sembra veramente come se ci trovassimo in campo. L’equilibrio ideale tra intrattenimento e conoscenza sportiva offre non solo momenti di relax ma anche l’opportunità di esplorare la storia del baseball, sia antica che moderna, e di rivivere gli eventi chiave della sua evoluzione e popolarità. Anche se i tempi di caricamento sono sensibilmente prolungati e le innovazioni rispetto al capitolo precedente sono limitate, il piacere di giocare è garantito, sia in singolo che in multiplayer. Con le sue numerose possibilità di personalizzazione, si dimostra un titolo che si conforma a qualsiasi tipo di giocatore. Ancora una volta, uno dei suoi maggiori pregi è la diversità dell’offerta ludica che propone. Si narra che ci siano due categorie di persone: quelle che adorano il baseball e quelle che non lo comprendono. Con MLB The Show 24, siamo convinti che il baseball possa trasformarsi in uno sport entusiasmante per chiunque.

Taxi Life: A City Driving Simulator nous propose une virée à Barcelone qui n’est pas inintéressante. Ne serait-ce que pour le cadre, bien exploité dans sa diversité, aussi bien au service des décors que de l’expérience routière à proprement parler. La conduite fonctionne bien, l’accessibilité est au rendez-vous. Mais d’un autre côté nous avons une IA qui se plait à nous gâcher la balade, un aspect gestion très timide et donc fatalement une certaine répétitivité qui s’installe une fois la ville découverte dans ses grandes lignes. On y vient avec un certain plaisir, mais on aurait aimé être invité à avoir envie d’y rester plus longtemps. Un jeu sympathique donc, mais léger. Ou certes léger, mais tout de même sympathique : comme dirait l’autre le nord, le sud, selon comme on est placé, ça change tout ! A vous de voir si vous cherchez une expérience plus ou moins prenante ou récréative, c’est à cette seconde option que Taxi Life répond le mieux.

Difficile de remettre au goût du jour le père du survival-horror, et pourtant, le studio Pieces Interactive y arrive et nous propose ici un hommage totalement bluffant, nous transportant dans un univers cauchemardesque à la sauce Lovecraftienne. Bien qu’en deçà des mastodontes graphiques du moment, Alone in the Dark arrive à imposer son rythme ainsi que son atmosphère pour nous convaincre de plonger pleinement dans son univers lugubre et terriblement intriguant. Proposant un temps de jeu d’environ une dizaine d’heures, le titre saura vous combler, que vous soyez ou non amateur du genre. Pour les fans de la première heure, vous serez ravis de pouvoir retrouver le manoir de Derceto parfaitement retranscrit et modélisé, reprenant parfois les plans originaux de la version de 1992 et dissimulant des clins d’œil à celui-ci. Malgré quelques petits bugs et des soucis d’optimisation, Alone in the Dark est le jeu d’horreur/suspense du moment à ne surtout pas manquer. À votre tour, attrapez vos lampes, avancez à tâtons dans les sombres couloirs de Derceto et percez le mystère qui plane autour du manoir.
