Un muy buen RPG narrativo en donde la acción y la investigación están repartidas a partes iguales y bien medidas. Sin prisas, pero sin pausas.

Helldivers 2 è la dimostrazione che è ancora possibile realizzare un videogioco live service che funzioni. Bastano un sistema di combattimento impeccabile e personalizzabile, buone funzionalità di rete, un sistema di progressione che incoraggia anche a ripetere le missioni già fatte e un orizzonte ampio in termini di contenuti futuri. Se a tutto questo aggiungiamo un'atmosfera irriverente e dissacrante alla Starship Troopers, un prezzo non esagerato e il crossplay tra PlayStation e PC, allora la ricetta per un titolo che saprà ritagliarsi la sua nicchia e prosperare negli anni come ha fatto il suo predecessore è completa. Helldivers 2 è l'esempio di come, con la qualità e l'ironia, sia possibile fare grandi cose.

Dopo pochissimi giorni dall’uscita di Foamstars sul mercato, ci troviamo qui a dare un giudizio che potrebbe rivelarsi definitivo. Lo scheletro di Foamstars è quello di un gioco non privo di difetti, anzi. Partendo dal gameplay legnoso e che nel suo contesto PvP non riesce proprio ad ingranare e ad andare oltre la mera curiosità dei primi giorni, la componente PvE ha però mostrato il potenziale di una nuova IP che – con la dovuta cura in fase di aggiornamento – potrebbe portare una nuova “spumeggiante” premessa nel genere TPS e puntare a diventare una nicchia del mondo PlayStation. Il problema è che queste cose ce le siamo dette quasi un anno fa al primo annuncio e nelle successive sedute d’analisi parziale, e anche adesso la solfa non cambia: per funzionare, c’è bisogno che Square Enix e Toylogic tornino davanti alla lavagna e inizino a trovare un compromesso tra le esigenze della “Zaibatsu” che vuole guadagnare ad ogni costo da un genere di struttura online sul quale non ha mai guadagnato al di fuori di Final Fantasy XIV, e la creatività di una software house che vanta talenti di tutto rispetto ma che al momento è costretta a lavorare su un progetto che sembra “nato a tavolino” come gioco di riempimento nel calendario fiscale, piuttosto che la prossima killer app. E se a tutto questo ci aggiungiamo l’uscita che coincide con l’arrivo della demo di uno dei titoli più attesi del 2024 e proveniente da Square Enix stessa, forse quest’ultima frase comincia a diventare molto più che una semplice teoria.

Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator è precisamente quello che ci si può aspettare dalla trasformazione della serie Gust in un gacha RPG di stampo mobile. La sua prevedibilità ha la funzione di accogliere facilmente tutti coloro che conoscono già il sistema in questione, ma non vorremmo smettere di sperare nella possibile introduzione di qualcosa di nuovo. Si distingue per una cura davvero notevole nella grafica e nella rappresentazione del mondo di Atelier, mentre sul fronte del gameplay tenta di proporre qualcosa di peculiare con il suo sistema alchemico, ma il tutto si risolve nel solito meccanismo di gioco farraginoso e - purtroppo qui forse più che altrove - decisamente impostato sulle microtransazioni.

Si son univers, ses graphismes et sa mécanique temporelle évoquent par moments un Prince of Persia, Lysfanga ne manque en réalité pas d'originalité et mérite franchement le détour.

Bien que ce soit comme ça qu’il ait fait sa notoriété lors du State of Play de mai 2023, Ultros vaut plus qu’un coup d’œil. Avec leur nouveau jeu, Hadoque et Kepler Interactive innove dans le genre du metroidvania avec des mécaniques plus qu’atypiques autour du jardinage. Il est toutefois tiré vers le bas par un manque d’aide ainsi que des combats qui manquent d’importance. Ultros reste un bon titre qui, à l’image d’une plante, à besoin de temps et d’investissement pour qu’elle fleurisse à son meilleur potentiel.

Héritier de la French Touch, de Métal Hurlant et du New Weird, camouflet mécanique, esthétique et musical, Ultros nous a immergés dans son univers alien. Un grisant objet vidéoludique non identité.

Ultros is a title with nothing to prove, but still somehow proves plenty. It’s old school without feeling old, and unhelpful without feeling frustrating. Your victories are yours alone, and that’s a cool thing to experience nowadays. There are a lot of games that like to pretend they are offering something unique, but really I have never seen a package quite like Ultros – crushing it on everything that matters. This is a title that deserves a spot on anyone’s watchlist.

Généreux dans sa narration comme dans son gameplay, Banishers propose d’abord un niveau d’écriture qui maintient sans aucun mal la bonne réputation de Don’tnod en la matière, offrant de multiples arcs narratifs aux choix marquants qui consolident toute la cohérence de l’univers. D’abord un peu sommaires, les affrontements profitent quant à eux d’une évolution grisante, permise par un arbre de compétence concis et une progression naturelle des personnages, très complémentaires sur le terrain. On retient aussi certaines longueurs, marquées par des intrigues dispensables, une lente montée de puissance du gameplay et une partie recherche un poil frustrante.

Sans avoir à nous proposer des jeux totalement revisités comme l'avaient fait les développeurs de Crystal Dynamics avec l'épisode Anniversary, on aurait tout de même souhaité que Aspyr Media engage un peu plus de moyens pour gommer un maximum de défauts présents dans ces trois premiers Tomb Raider. Considérés comme totalement archaïques aujourd'hui, aussi bien pour leur maniabilité ultra lourde que leurs graphismes méchamment pixelisés, Tomb Raider I-II-III s'offre tout de même une petite cure de jouvence indispensable qui devrait convaincre les joueurs qui souhaitent (re)découvrir les débuts de Lara en jeu vidéo, tout en ayant bien conscience qu'ils restent encore capables de générer de bonnes grosses doses de frustration générale.

The iconic Lara Croft returns in a series of lovingly crafted remasters of her first three adventures. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered features not only the base version of all three games, but also the full expansions which were previously unavailable on the PS1, providing an incredible amount of content for a bargain price. Upgraded character models and lighting, a photo mode, and optional quality-of-life improvements help round out a collection which would have been worthwhile without the graphical upgrade. Unfortunately, a few control, lighting, and camera issues do occasionally arise, dampening what is otherwise a great collection.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is a fun action game with a solid concept and a stellar paranormal investigation system. Its story about struggling to let go of loved ones in death is worth hearing, even when its pacing occasionally gets sluggish and indulgent. The combat system also tries some interesting new things that largely work out, only dragged down by poor enemy variety and wonky controls. Still, swapping between the corporeal and ghostly planes instantaneously is every bit as cool when solving mysteries as it is during fights, and the writing and characters help carry Banishers across its rougher patches. That made saying goodbye to them fittingly difficult, decaying flesh and all.

Nous serions bien incapables de vous dire ce qu’il manque à Lysfanga : The Time Shift Warrior pour viser l’excellence. Le titre de Sand Door Studio est une franche réussite sur tous les aspects, jouissant d’un concept intelligent et accrocheur, et d’un gameplay facile d’accès, se montrant plus complexe qu’il n’y paraît avec le temps. Généreux, il est par ailleurs proposé à petit prix, et jouit d’un habillage qui lui fait honneur. Si sa proposition vous intrigue, alors on ne peut que vous inviter à vous y essayer !
