Atlus has successfully translated the turn-based combat of its 2017 masterpiece into a competent tactical experience, though Persona 5 Tactica won't be heralded with the same praise. Consistently good during fights, customising your party and mastering its many stages is where the game is at its best. However, there's little to the title besides those skirmishes, and without any exploration or sense of character progression, this feels like the Phantom Thieves at the end of their tether. Joker and co have enjoyed a great run, but Persona 5 fatigue is well and truly beginning to set in.

Persona 5 Tactica è, di base, un gran bel SRPG, dotato di una buona giocabilità e dei personaggi realmente interessanti. Peccato solo in uno stile non sempre all'altezza e in alcune meccaniche ridondanti sulla lunga distanza, in grado di renderlo "solo" un buon spin-off della serie principale.

With four playable factions, excellent writing, and a compelling setting, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin delivers a solid RTS, albeit one that takes little risk. A handful of bugs and design choices may hamper the fun, but it hits stride when it lets you be powerful and unrestrained.

Fate/Samurai Remnant est la surprise de cette fin d’année côté JRPG, et il est assurément la meilleure porte d’entrée pour celles et ceux qui veulent se lancer dans la quête du Graal et la licence Fate. Son principal défaut est sa longueur, surtout qu’il n’est pas traduit dans la langue de Molière. Cela dit, Samurai Remnant arbore un gameplay façon Musou bien ficelé, qui arrive à se renouveler, et fort heureusement au vu des 40h que vous devrez passer sur son aventure pour en voir le terme.

Super Mario RPG est un remake un peu paresseux d’un jeu qui a pris un bon coup de vieux. On aurait apprécié un aspect visuel plus travaillé, pour commencer, ou un contenu suffisamment revu à la hausse pour justifier la vente au prix fort. Dans les faits, l’aventure manque peut-être un peu de charme, ce que n’aide en rien une vue isométrique pas toujours très digeste. Le jeu demeure sympathique, néanmoins. Notamment parce qu’il s’offre des mécaniques en combat plutôt grisantes, ainsi qu’une écriture amusante et des personnages sympathiques. Mais il y avait assurément matière à faire mieux avec cette base solide.

Così come l’originale, questa riedizione di Super Mario RPG è pensata per essere un autentico preambolo del genere, e presentare ai neofiti tutte le caratteristiche peculiari dei giochi di ruolo di stampo giapponese. Ciò non significa che gli altri non potranno trovare pane per i loro denti, soprattutto considerate tutte le rifiniture apportate da ArtePiazza e qualche extra da affrontare dopo la fine del gioco, ma non accostatevi al gioco aspettandovi chissà quale storia complessa o difficoltà terribile da superare. Malgrado una revisione stilistica che, a mio avviso, non rende giustizia all’estro creativo dell’avventura su Super Nintendo, Super Mario RPG resta un ottimo prodotto confezionato con amore, e meritevole di attenzione anche da parte di chi non è necessariamente appassionato delle peripezie a piattaforme dell’idraulico videoludico per eccellenza.

Naruto x Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections è, nel momento in cui scriviamo, il picchiaduro definitivo basato sull’opera di Kishimoto, tra due modalità storia (di cui una, quella di Boruto, inedita), circa 130 personaggi giocabili, collezionabili e sfide da sbloccare e completare. La sensazione di “già visto” c’è, ed è forte soprattutto per i cultori dei titoli precedenti, i quali comunque difficilmente potranno perdersi l’ultima iterazione del franchise. Per tutti i nuovi arrivati e fan di Naruto, invece, il prodotto costituisce praticamente un acquisto obbligatorio, in virtù della sua completezza. Avremmo gradito scenari finalmente distruttibili, una maggiore personalizzazione dei personaggi e qualche modalità in più legata all’online, ma complessivamente ci siamo: ora resta da capire se il prossimo titolo sarà l’ennesimo “pacchetto completo definitivo” oppure, finalmente, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 5.

Jagged Alliance 3 has many ups and downs but I ultimately came away frustrated, especially with the combat and the over complicated controls. There is potential there but I’m not sure I can wait around another 24 years to see that potential flourish.

Siendo fan del original, pero aunque no lo fuera, no puedo recomendar Flashback 2. Nada en él funciona. Ni el diseño ni el movimiento tosco y animaciones del personaje. Las plataformas tan interesantes de su primera parte brillan por su ausencia mientras que la deriva hacia la acción no lo hace mejor, con unos disparos imprecisos y nada divertidos. Técnicamente, el juego no funciona bien ni en términos de resolución ni de framerate. Y, por si fuera poco, tiene una cantidad de bugs que hace imposible terminar el juego. Por su importancia y legado, es uno de los mayores desastres que he jugado últimamente.
