Laika: Aged Through Blood è un gioco semplicemente imperdibile. Ha una struttura familiare e insieme innovativa, ha un sistema di combattimento ad alto rischio, ma con salvataggi frequenti e racconta una storia struggente e forte. L'idea di esplorare un metroidvania in sella a una moto è fresca e avvincente, e tutto il gameplay a base di acrobazie per ricaricare le armi è una sfida approcciabile che aumenta di intensità in modo regolare. Il comparto artistico è ispirato, i personaggi ben caratterizzati e la colonna sonora è eccellente. L'unico difetto è che proprio le tracce musicali della talentuosa Beícoli sono legate a un collezionabile da raccogliere e quindi non sono subito a disposizione.

The Gap has a compelling and sombre narrative and an interesting premise that will appeal to fans of slow-burning mysteries. Whilst the puzzles could have been slightly more complex, this short game of one man's quest to save his loved ones is still a tale worth experiencing.

Alan Wake 2 est une aventure tout à fait unique, un “jeu d’auteur” qui dépasse les frontières du jeu vidéo… Le studio Remedy s’approprie ici toutes les formes d’art qu’il affectionne tant, passant de l’expérience vidéoludique au film en live-action, ou du concert à la photographie. Des parti-pris tranchés qui font tout son charme, mais qui - à contrario - peuvent également rebuter. Qui plus est, en tant que jeu vidéo, ce deuxième épisode n’est pas non plus exempt de défauts, et on regrette des jump scares un peu trop présents et une construction ouverte qui tourne vite en rond. Pour le reste, c’est une aventure marquante, si ce n'est mémorable.

As a big fan of both The Lord of the Rings and survival games, I was enticed by the idea that I can dive into a genre I already know and love with the rich lore of Middle-earth to keep me company (as well as a party of friends), but it’s disappointing to see such a promising concept do little more than a barely passable impression of better games. Combat is dull and repetitive, owing to overused enemy types and braindead AI, and limited mining opportunities or freedom with settlement building throws a wet blanket over the creativity that’s typically a selling point for the genre. Throw in rough technical performance and it becomes difficult to recommend Return to Moria to even my fellow Tolkien stans. There’s a decent game in here somewhere, as the compelling progression loop and chaotic multiplayer capabilities can make for a really good time – I just can’t give you many reasons to pick this survival game over the plethora of better options when it’s only ever by-the-numbers at best.

EA Sports UFC 5 es un gran juego de lucha que recrea como nunca esta exitosa competición, tanto su puesta en escena como su lado más bestia gracias a un espectacular sistema de daños y gran modelado de los púgiles. Aunque en general es un juego continuista en muchos aspectos, el modo Carrera online es uno de sus grandes aciertos.

EA Sports UFC 5 non mancherà di entusiasmare i fan delle MMA e degli sport di combattimento in generale, grazie alle novità introdotte sul piano del gameplay e a un comparto tecnico sostanzialmente migliorato, che dona spettacolarità a ogni sequenza ma soprattutto si mette al servizio dell'esperienza e delle sue meccaniche grazie al sistema di animazioni, alla gestione fisica dei vari elementi e all'enfasi sul realismo che si traduce anche in una resa più dettagliata delle ferite. Molto solido, molto sfaccettato e per certi versi meno frammentato, il titolo di Electronic Arts può contare anche su di una certa sostanza, pur senza grandi novità sotto questo aspetto.

On ne peut qu’applaudir Remedy Entertainment. Treize ans après Alan Wake, soit un laps de temps hyper long, le studio propose un Alan Wake 2 abouti sur quasiment tous les points. Visuellement ébouriffant, il s’appuie sur une narration paradoxalement alambiquée mais maîtrisée. Un véritable tour de force qui emporte tout sur son passage et permet au célèbre écrivain d’écrire de nouvelles pages à l’encre indélébile. Certes, il n’est plus seul, mais Saga Anderson constitue l’autre atout d’un jeu qui sait exploiter la moindre opportunité pour rebondir. Surtout, on sent une vraie montée en puissance au sein de Remedy Entertainment, qui sait évoluer sans se trahir. Marquant à l’époque, Alan Wake cède sa place à une suite qui complète tout ce qui était très bien et a su tirer des enseignements de l’ellipse qui s’est écoulée (on sent l’héritage de l’excellent Control). Le projet était terriblement risqué, mais Alan Wake 2 appuie constamment sur le curseur de la surprise généreuse pour saisir la joueuse ou le joueur. Le tout avec des références — Twin Peaks en tête — qui sont toujours bonnes à voir.

Alan Wake 2 intenta hacer muchas cosas. Algunas le salen mejor que otras, pero aun así creo que hay que valorar ese esfuerzo por no ser “la típica superproducción”. No solo es un juego espectacular en lo gráfico, sino que sabe dirigir todo ese juego de luces y sombras y juega con el escenario de muchas formas interactivas bastante originales. Su parte detectivesca ayuda a profundizar en la historia, pero no es tan buena dejando al jugador deducir y sacar conclusiones de las pistas. Su combate es algo tosco, pero se disfruta porque hay menos enfrentamientos y con más significado. ¿Y su historia? Enrevesada, llena de elementos metanarrativos, excéntrica a veces y fascinante en otras. Todo ello hacen de él un título muy especial. No perfecto, pero sí diferente. Y eso se agradece.

It’s a delight to relive classic horror titles through modern remakes, but what Remedy has cooked up here is something special — a gust of fresh air aiming to revitalise video game horror. There’s expansive lore and a twisting story that might not be for everyone, but the developer packs so many exciting and unique ideas into this ambitious sequel that you can’t help but play along with a nervous smile on your face. With stunning visuals, pitch-perfect tone and atmosphere, brilliant pacing, and a fascinating mystery to sink your teeth into, there are no twists or turns about it: Alan Wake 2 is an all-timer.

With its excellent trippy horror story, memorable characters, amazing atmosphere, and some of the best visuals in gaming to date, Alan Wake II is a game like few others and Remedy Entertainment's best. It took 13 years for the acclaimed writer to come back, but the long wait was worth it. We could have hardly wished for a better sequel, despite the derivative survival horror gameplay holding the experience back a bit.

Alan Wake 2 è la summa cum laude del lavoro compiuto da Remedy negli ultimi anni. Il primo esponente del “Remedyverse” è un vero e proprio tripudio sensoriale, è un’opera fuori di testa, con una scrittura sublime e una vena autoriale che sprizza identità e voglia di distruggere il mondo da ogni poro, con ottime ragioni. L’avventura di Saga e Alan, tra omicidi, viaggi mentali e tanti segreti da scoprire è un vero e proprio turbinio di emozioni, in cui a stonare sono soltanto qualche piccolo bug di natura tecnica che, sono sicuro, gli sviluppatori correggeranno in tempo per questo day one. Per il resto, escludendo qualche piccola incertezza con alcune dinamiche di gameplay, bisogna veramente fare un applauso, come direbbe il compianto ragionier Fantozzi di almeno 90 minuti per Sam Lake e il suo team, che hanno saputo metter mano a un brand con un passato incredibilmente glorioso e l’hanno reso ancor più memorabile di quanto non fosse già. Insomma: “another satisfied customer”?

EA Sports UFC 5 doles out impressive blood-soaked Frostbite visuals and a double-dose of M-rated attitude, but don’t let the new swagger sway you. While the action remains satisfying enough, it hasn’t evolved in any significant way, and a lack of compelling content continues to be an issue for the series. UFC 5 may deliver the razzle dazzle, but it needs to work on its fundamentals.
